Recently got into What We Do in The Shadows (watched the entire show three times) and was absolutely possessed to create this fanart of my favorite gang of vampires (sorry, Astarion my love, I'll draw you too... Someday 🤣♥)

So Halloween gets to linger a little longer on this blog. I don't mind 🎃✨

remember how nadja said laszlo refused to watch her all-time favorite comfort movie because "it reminds [him] of all the bastard children [he] fathered when [he] was a human."

(the same man that renounced his country of origin and refused to step foot there again because some pompous douchebags insulted his wife)

and remember how laszlo looked like he was taking a painful shit when briefly opening up to nandor, saying that he's "not very comfortable with emotional flamboyance"

and remember how laszlo raised baby colin on his own for an entire year and continued to act as a parental figure even after everyone returned and helped care for him

and remember how laszlo raised baby colin through all his life stages and now suddenly he doesn't have a kid anymore because colin robinson doesn't even remember any of it

and remember how laszlo fixated on helping guillermo to avoid confronting his new reality and how he ordered guillermo to kill the mini mimo clones that view guillermo as their father

and remember how laszlo went into a near catatonic state for three weeks after calling off his experiments because now he doesn't have anything to distract him from his kid-now adult who doesn't believe it when the others tell him truths about the past few years

So if Colin Robinson gets drained when people are interested in what he says, does that mean he knew about Laszlo liking his talks about 19th century naval battles and didn't mind getting drained/not getting any energy out of him?

If so, that's so god damn sweet.

can we talk about how Guillermo tells bedtime stories to nandor probably on a daily basis??? like he tucks Nandor in his little coffin and just tells him stories. like how cute is that. But like its probably all off cam and the only reason we get to see it cuz the crew is more bold now or they just got more comfortable with the crew over the years. This really adds another layers to those time guillermo leaves..... and just how much of theyre relation progress and everything that we dont really see cuz they happen off cam.

Imagine finding out your annoying roommate was going to die on his 100th birthday and nothing could be done. You decide it's best if you don't tell him and instead become his best friend instead of brushing him off like you used to, and when his birthday comes around you demand everyone acknowledge it so he can feel special. And then he dies. And then you find out a baby crawled from his chest so you cancel your plans to travel with your wife so you can stay home and raise him. You do everything you can to take care of him for a year. And then he hits puberty overnight and becomes the same person he was before he died with no memory of you caring for him. It's as if nothing changed from the year before.

But you changed. And he has no idea.

I'm STILL reeling over the pure uncut and undeniably heartwarming aspects of this week's episode you guyssss

Nandor putting in time and effort to help Colin Robinson feed and then having a small emotional breakdown when he passed out and immediately bringing him to Laszlo? Laszlo and Nandor working together to get Colin re-energized? Colin then spending the time to transfer back some of the energy he siphoned from Nandor to bring him back to normal? Nadja actually taking Guillermo to get help for his broken foot? Nadja going absolutely fucking FERAL to protect Guillermo's life??? Guillermo unabashedly gushing over how much he loves everyone at that house while simultaneously lovingly insulting them? Nadja and Laszlo keeping Guillermo's secret from Nandor, someone they have lived with and loved for literal centuries???

I think it's safe to say none of us were expecting the wholesomeness, but MAN is it so fucking satisfying.

Aside from all that tho, I also want to discuss the possible implications and significance of Nadja defending Guillermo so fiercely and the episode culminating in Nandor getting serious and a little angry for a moment. Because I think this episode's storyline specifically served to foreshadow Nadja and Laszlo having to protect and defend Guillermo against Nandor, who might fly into a blind rage as a result of what he would almost surely interpret as a devastating betrayal. His deep hurt from discovering the truth might overpower every other rational thought, and he might very well try to kill Guillermo even though we all know he wouldn't really want to.

And if this ends up being the case, it will be SUCH an interesting parallel and contrast to the opening of season 3, where the situation was reversed - where Nandor spent an entire MONTH fighting to protect Guillermo's life against Nadja and Laszlo's murderous intentions.

Things I loved about the first two episodes of WWDITS Season 5 (SPOILERS!!!):

Episode 1:

Laszlo acting like he doesn’t care about Guillermo but he clearly does if he not only noticed he was off but also commented on it

“Cause I’m the king of bottoms”

Nandor clearly not being okay, no matter how many times he says he is

Nandor hypnotizing everyone just so they could forget he tripped

“We are not laughing with you, we are laughing at you”

Nandor breaking down the door

Abandoned orphanage = twinkle twinkle little star apparently

“Your nicest shitty sweater”

Colin Robinson is a waiter I-

“I got so shit on my faced”

All humans work at Panera Bread at some point in their lives

Guillermo’s pause for the editors to put a romantic montage of him and Nandor

The sheer amount of to go bags from the restaurant

How they immediately came back after hearing “mall”

All of them immediately walking away after Guillermo tells them to stay put

Laszlo following Guillermo

Nandor having the time of his life on the carousel

The boss not even noticing all the blood

Guillermo not needing glasses anymore but wearing them anyway to not tip anybody off

Nandor getting a foot locker

Guillermo using said foot locker as a coffin

Episode 2:

“You just said doo doo” “touché”

Nadja crying about problems that she caused

The fact that no one noticed she was gone

Laszlo quoting Homer and Sean’s friends saying d’oh

i think one of my favourite parts of s4 so far is everyone in the house coming up with increasingly more complex ways of saying "the creature who crawled out of the chest cavity of our deceased friend colin robinson"
