AN: I am in no way, shape, or form an experienced story writer! This is just a fiction of myself and my friends. They have no idea that I even started an account on here. Only Sam knows that I picked up writing, but we never show it in our videos because we're too focused on the investigations.

Ash says" I...think he wants to tell sam something...". Ash passes out. I say" Ash?!". Sam says" wait a minute...". Sam touches her neck. Sam says" what do we have here?". He looks at his hand with a bloody needle on it and says" I think someone's here...".

Xepher says, " Whoever did this is so dead!". I say, " But who would do this?". Xepher says, " The only person who would do this would be her abusive ex...". Sam says, " If it was her ex, we would see him... I think Ash was right.". Kat says, " The...Midnight Man...?". Sam says, " mhm...". Ash wakes up and says, " What happened?".

I say, " Sam, are you gonna tell her?". Ash's sharp fangs come out, and she says, " Tell me what?!". Sam says, " Tell you that...uhm... Colby kissed my cheek...". Everyone stares at me, and Kat says, " Colby, did you kiss Sam's cheek?".

I giggle nervously and say, " Yeah... I tripped and fell into his face...". Sam nervously laughs and says, " mhm...that's all I wanted to tell you...". Ash says, " Okay...then why is there blood on your hand and my neck?". Xepher says, " Yeah, Sam, don't be shy, tell her?!".

Sam says, " Well, I had to take a needle out of your neck that The Midnight Man put in your neck...". Ash runs to the bathroom and throws up blood. Sam and I run after her, and we yell, " Ash?!". Ash says, " Do you guys have any paper towels?".

I say, " No, we ran out. But can you use my shirt?". Ash says, " Colby-" I take my shirt off and hand it to Ash. Sam says, " Colby, let's take Ash to the hospital.". I say, " Alright, but let's wait a bit and see if she gets any better."". I pick her up and put her on my bed.

HOURS LATER

Sam says" Ash, how you feeling?". Ash holds her stomach and says" uh...better I guess...". Ash wipes the blood off with her hands. I say" use the shirt I gave you.". Xepher goes up to my room and says" Oh my gosh, Ash?! Are you alright?!".

Ash's eyes glow black, and she says, " mhm...". Before Ash could wipe her mouth with her hand again, Sam hands her the shirt I gave her originally. I smile and say, " Use it.". Ash says, " Okay...". She wipes the blood with the shirt and says, " Thanks...".

She starts tearing up. Sam holds her face and says, " Ash, are you alright?". She covers her face and says, " mhm...". She starts to cry. All the other girls hug her, and Kat says, " Don't worry, Ash, you can tell us anything!". Sam and I say, " mhm! And can you let us see your face...?" We both smile.

Ash says, " Okay...". She stands back up and takes off the mask. Someone knocks on the door. Sam says, " I'll go answer the door.". Sam answers the door and says, " Hello?". Brennen says, " Hey, Sam! Is Ash here?". Sam says, " Why?".

Brennen pushes Sam to the side and says, " Ash?!". The Midnight Man possesses Sam and says, " Stay away from her Brennen!". He throws a knife at Brennen. Ash goes downstairs and says, " Sam?!". Sam says, " Stay back, Ash!".

The Midnight Man gets out of Sam's body and says, " Ash!". He hugs her. I run downstairs and say, " Is everyone okay?!". Ash cries and says, " mhm...". Sam and I hug her. Xepher runs downstairs and says, " Is everyone oka-" She covers her mouth and says, " Dad?!". Xepher hugs The Midnight Man. Sam says, " The Midnight Man is your dad?".

Ash says, " mhm! The Midnight Man is our dad!". Sam and I say, " Hold on...". Me and Sam, grab Brennen, and send him to jail. Sam says, " That should do it.". Ash says, " Where's Brennen then?". I say, " we took him to jail. Why?". Ash says, " I don't know...I just feel like he's not there...". I say, " What makes you think that?".

She ignores the question. The Midnight Man says, " Well, kids, I gotta go haunt more souls.". He looks at me and Sam and says, " You two better take care of them...". Sam and I say, " We will!". We both smile. The Midnight Man leaves. Sam says, " Hey Ash, random question. Have you ever had powers?".

Ash says, " uhm...no...". I say, "Ash, uh... would you like to sleep in my room?". I look kind of nervous asking that question. Ash says, " Sure!". Kat says, " Hey Sam, can I sleep next to you? I'm kind of scared...". Sam says, " Of course, Kat!". As Ah and Ash go up to my room and Sam and Kat go up to Sam's room. The rest of the people that're overslept in all the spare bedrooms.

THE NEXT DAY

I wake up and say" morning Ash-". I notice Ash isn't there, so I panic. I run downstairs and say, " What do i do?!". I keep repeating that kind of yelling it. Kat wakes up to me yelling and says, " Huh? Colby, is everything okay?". I say, " NO, no, no, no, no!".

Jake says, " I think he's having a panic attack!". Sam comes in from the kitchen and starts lightly shaking me and says, " DUDE! calm down and breathe!". He hands me a cup of ice cold water to calm me down.

Devyn says, " I checked Colby's room, and Ash isn't in there!". Kat says, " Guys! Let's not just stand here! We have to look for her!". We all look around the house for Ash and then Samlooks outside at the pool. Sam says, " Guys! I think she's in the pool!". We all run out to the pool.

It started the moment a bullet ripped through Xepher’s chest, her heart coming to a stop. 

The world around her faded as she succumbed to death's embrace. According to the EMTs, she had been clinically dead for a full six minutes before she came back to life. However, within those six minutes, Xepher found herself in a realm that existed beyond the confines of the ambulance.

"SAM!" The name echoed through her consciousness as she turned her head.

"COLBY!" Another name reverberated, distant yet unmistakable.

In an instant, her surroundings were bathed in a vibrant orange glow. She stood within an expansive desert, where scorching winds whipped up columns of sand. Confusion gripped her as she grappled to make sense of this surreal landscape. A glance downward revealed attire she didn't recognize—strange, advanced combat gear unlike anything she had ever seen.

Across the desert expanse, two figures emerged. Sam Golbach and Colby Brock were running toward her, the very individuals whose names had resounded in her mind earlier. Their expressions held a mixture of astonishment and familiarity, mirroring the complex emotions within her.

"Xepher, this is real. You're seeing what we're seeing," Sam's voice carried hope tinged with certainty. "It's happening, even though it feels unreal."

Colby reached out and placed a hand on her shoulder, “You need to calm down, Xepher. We will find you.”

Xepher nodded, her thoughts racing. "I was shot. I should be... I should be dead, Colby."

The intensity of the orange light intensified, casting long shadows upon the sandy terrain. As they exchanged puzzled glances, a distant rumble filled the air, growing steadily louder. Something was approaching.

A colossal sandstorm emerged on the horizon, a swirling maelstrom of chaos and devastation. The ground quaked beneath their feet as the tempest consumed everything in its path. Xepher's instincts kicked in. "We need cover—now!"

Together, they sprinted toward a cluster of rocky formations that promised some refuge. The sandstorm closed in, visibility reduced to near-zero. Huddled behind the rocks, they clung to each other as the tempest raged, a force of nature unlike any they'd encountered.

Amidst the heart of the storm, Xepher's mind was bombarded by a montage of images—centuries of battles, faces of comrades lost to time, and the sensation of never truly meeting the end. She realized that her return from death was no ordinary occurrence; it was something profound, linking her, Sam, and Colby across the tapestry of time.

In a vision that felt both real and distant, Xepher found herself amidst the opulence of the Italian Renaissance. The scene unfolded like a memory, or perhaps a dream. She watched as Sam Golbach and Colby Brock appeared in an elegant garden, under the gentle light of the setting sun. Sam's voice held a fondness that transcended time.

"Colby, you have an uncanny way of capturing beauty that rivals the finest artists."

Colby's smile held a touch of mischief as he leaned in closer. Their tunics mixed till Xepher was unsure who belonged to who, "Only because I have the most inspiring subject."

Their hands found each other, fingers intertwining with a familiarity that suggested an intimacy borne of more than just companionship. The unspoken connection between them was palpable, charged with an underlying depth that hinted at a romantic relationship.

As the sandstorm gradually abated, Xepher returned to her mind and the environment transformed once more. The vibrant orange light dimmed, revealing their original surroundings—the interior of the ambulance. The rhythmic beeping of medical instruments filled the air, and Xepher blinked in disbelief.

Even though Sam and Colby were not with her, Xepher could feel their presence along with many more who felt like echoing's across other life times. While she could parse out her short life, theirs were longer and so deeply entwined that they might as well have been hers as well. She shared a profound realization with her self, mumbling, "We're connected, across time and space."

The EMTs worked urgently, unaware of the cosmic odyssey Xepher had just undertaken. As her vision blurred and darkness beckoned, one thought remained resolute: they were part of an ancient and extraordinary narrative, one that transcended mortality.

Colby's voice, soft yet resolute, broke through the haze. "Welcome to the Old Guard, Xepher."

the meaning of her stage name, XEPHER, represents practicality, realism, reliability, discipline, & sincerity.

despite being the oldest in the group’s maknae line and an only child, XEPHER is the leader of MIRAGE. the title was granted for displaying leader-like qualities along with her loyalty to the company, as she was the first female trainee within it.

contrary to her fiery stage presence and rough exterior, XEPHER is actually very gentle and warm-hearted.

she assumes her role as the leader with pride, and often underestimates how great she is at looking out for everyone— she only wants the best for them, and though she may seem calm and collected, she’s not afraid to find a way to make it happen.

the meaning of her birth name, AILEE, actually has irish, scottish & greek origins. it translates to "torch" or "light." meaning she could be a guiding light towards someone’s destiny, or as a shining ray of light in one’s life.

she is oftentimes the one to calm down the more noisy members, which are NAKO and NARI. she says she rarely has to scold EUNAE or ARIN.

XEPHER is the main lyricist of MIRAGE, she gained the courage to start because of HONGJOONG. now, she uses writing lyrics as a way of coping with her emotions, especially when talking it through doesn’t feel enough.

she trained for eight months, and most of that time was spent as the only trainee preparing to be in a girl group— so she lived alone until NARI and ARIN arrived. as the other members joined, she has gone from being roommates with EUNAE to each member having her own bedroom.

XEPHER has an infectious, gentle, and adorable persona when digging under the surface. she’s a romantic at heart, but doesn’t know enough about love to know she is just yet.

XEPHER is quite introverted, but she finds herself more vibrant around people she’s emotionally close to/connected with. the leading cause of her personality type is because of her trainee years, and the fact that she was alone for most of it.

in correlation to that, XEPHER has a fear of being left alone or forgotten— which is why, despite being afraid, she fights hard to keep MIRAGE’s bond strong so no one is left behind.

Summary of this chapter: Xepher and Ash moved to Hawaii because Sam and I live there. Ash is very nervous but gets close with everyone pretty fast.

Warnings: NONE besides maybe foreshadowing and blushing. I don't know if I needed a warning for that, but just in case! (Picture is foreshadowing, maybe a couple sentences)

Xepher and Ash ger to the house. Ash says, "Xepher... I'm scared...". Xepher says, "Ash, don't worry. It'll be fine!". Sam answers the door and says, " Hey Xepher and Ash! Come in!". They go into the house.

Kat says, " Hey Ash!". Ash goes behind Xepher and says, " Hey...". I look at Kat and say, " Is that Ash?". Kat says, " Mhm!" I say," Hey Ash!". Ash's fangs come out, and she says, " Hi...". Tara says, " Guys, Ash is scared. We should say hi later.".

Xepher looks at Ash and says, " Don't worry, Ash, they're friendly.". Ash puts her fangs away and says, " uhm... okay...". Sam smiles and says, " Hey, can I talk to Ash alone?". Xepher says, " Sure, but be careful. She might go things you don't expect.". Sam says, " Okay, Ash, would you like to come to my room?". Ash smiles and says, " Sure.".

She goes with Sam to his room. Sam says, " So, why did you and Xepher have to move here?". Ash says, " Well, our house got burned down...". Sam hugs Ash and says, " Don't worry, Ash! I can protect you if you want!". Ash blushes, smiles, and says, " Uh... sure.". Sam and Ash go out of Sam's room. I say, " Oh, Hey Ash!". Ash blushes again and says, "Oh no. I mean, hey!". Xepher says, " Hey Ash! Are you okay?". Ash stops blushing and says, " Uh, yeah!".

Ash laughs nervously. Sam and I say, " I think she'll have a great time here!". We both laugh. Kat smiles, holds Sam's waist, and says, " So, what are we doing today?". Sam says, " I don't know Kat. Let's see, Ash, how old are you?". Ash smiles and says, " I'm 18.". Xepher says, " I think Ash is comfortable here. I have to go get her shots.".

Sam and I say, " Okay, we can look after her.". Xepher says, " Thank you.". Xepher goes to the store. I say, " So, Ash, why do you need shots?". Ash says, " Why are you so curious, colby?". Sam says, " Because we want to know if you are okay?". Ash says, " Yes, I'm fine! I mean... yeah, I'm fine...".

She covers her mouth. Sam and I hold her and say, " it's okay. We just want to know if you are alright. Where do you want to sleep?". Ash says, " I would like to sleep in Sam's room on the floor with Kat.". She puts her mask on. Sam says, " Okay, if you want, you can chill in my room with Kat for now."". Kat says, " That sounds great!". Ash and Kat go up to Sam's room while Sam and I stay downstairs to talk to each other.

Sam looks at me and says, " bro! Isn't she so cute!". I say, " she sure is, but why does she have to wear a mask while she sleeps?". Sam says, " I don't know. Maybe because she's hurt or sick?". I say, " Dude, if she was sick, she would be coughing. If she was hurt, we would see it.". Xepher gets home and says, " Hey boys. Where's Ash?". Sam says, " she's in my room with her mask on. Why?". Xepher says, " Oh no...". I say, " How come-"

Xepher runs up to Sam's room and says, " Ash? Are you alright?!". Kat and Ash are laughing. Xepher says, " What're you two laughing at?". Ash laughs at Kats phone and says, " Look!". Kat and Ash were laughing at a picture of Sam and I sleeping next to each other.

Kat says, " we were just laughing for fun." They go out of Sam's room. Sam says, " Hey Ash! Wanna play truth or drink with us?". Ash says, " What's that?". I say, " it's a game where if you don't answer the question you're asked, you take a shot of lemon juice.". Tara says, " Let's play outside.". Everyone says, " Okay.".

We all go outside. Sam says, " I'll go first. Ash, do you think you are going to be safe here?". Ash says, " Yes, hopefully.". Sam says, " That's good. Do you want to go next?". Ash says, " Sure, uh, Xepher, do you like it here?". Xepher says, " Of course!". Kat says, "Guys, can we stop playing? I'm hungry!". Sam says, " Sure, what does everyone want to eat?". Everyone goes inside. Xepher says, " Ash, what do you want to eat?". Ash says, " Nothing, im not hungry. You guys can get pizza, though.".

Ash goes up to my room for some reason. Kat says, " Can you guys order some pizza?". Sam says, " Sure." Sam orders the pizza. Sam says, " Colby, can you check on Ash?". I say, " Uh... sure, I guess...". I head up to my room and open the door. I say, " Oh my gosh?! Ash?!".

Ash says, " he said something to me...". Sam runs upstairs and says, " Who?! What did they say?!". Ash says, " He said 'tag, you're it. Tag, tag. You're it'.". Sam says, " Oh no...". Kat runs upstairs and says, " Oh my gosh, Ash!! Your face!".

Ash says, " Oh my gosh!". Ash's left cheek has blood on it. Sam says, " Nothing to worry about, Ash. Let me just check your face.". Sam checks Ash's face. I say, " Is she alright?". Sam says, " I don't think so. She might get hurt here someday...". Ash gulps and says, " I think it's The Midnight Man...". Kat says, " Ash, what do you mean?".
