“I’m boooooooooored!” Luffy whined, hanging upside down on the bow of the ship. “Someone come play a game with me.”

“Busy,” the long-nosed pirate murmured, tinkering with some kind of device.

“But Usoooooooopp!” The captain moaned in agony.

How was he supposed to survive in these conditions? God gives his toughest battles to his silliest soldiers…

A glint of joy sparkled in his eye in a moment’s notice. “Hey! Wanna have a tickle fight?!”

The gunner visibly tensed, clamping his arms down to his sides. “No way! I’m- I’m working on something!”

“But you’re so fun to play games with! And I have to know if you’re ticklish!!”

Growing more flustered and frustrated, Usopp barked out an absentminded response. “Come over and make me then!”

“Hehe, okay,” Luffy replied with a Cheshire grin. He stretched his arm out to grab the pole next to his crewmate, letting his body cling to said position.

A small squeak left the gunner as his eyes widened. “Uh… h-hi.”

“Hi!” The stretchy boy cooed, “betcha’ forgot I could do that, huh?”

Usopp did not like the menacing look that was glinting in his captain’s eyes. He shifted apprehensively as he slowly tried to step back. He looked for an exit, eyes darting drastically around the ship. He locked onto Sanji serving some kind of snack to Zoro and Nami, opting to break into a full sprint toward the three.

“SAVE MEEEE! SAAAAAVE MEEEE!!!!!”

Six concerned eyes snapped to the frantic Usopp, who was running from a sadistically smiling Luffy. The three relaxed, realizing that Usopp wasn’t actually in any real danger.

“Well, what did you do to piss him off?” Zoro asked as the curly-haired male jumped onto him. “H-Hey! What are you-“ Instinctively, his arms closed securely around his shipmate.

“Zoroooo, he’s gonna kill me!” Usopp cried, drastically hugging the burly man holding him.

“NUH UH!” The captain called after them, making his way over, “I told you, I just wanted to have a tickle fight!”

“And I said I was- HYEAH!”

The long-nosed pirate was cut off by sudden, repeated pinches to his hips, jumping a bit in the swordsman’s tight hold. “H-Hey- EEP! S-Stahap Zoro!”

“What? I’m not doin’ nothin’… Jeez…”

“B-Buhut you a-ahare!”

“Hey! No fair! I was supposed to tickle him!!” Luffy whined, pouting with his arms crossed.

“Oh yeah? Well-“ Zoro hooked his arms under the gunner’s biceps, causing the latter to kick his feet in defense. “Go for it, Captain.”

That glint of joy and menace found its way back, with Luffy settling in front of his shipmates and reaching up to wiggle his fingers at their gunner.

“Waitwaitwaitwait! Can’t we talk about this?!?! I’m sure we can make some kind of ar-ahahahangemehehent! Nohohoho!”

The captain giggled along with Usopp as he spidered his fingers along the long-nosed pirate’s sides.

“Luhuhuffyhyhy! Zohohohoro! Stahahap!”

“Stop? Already? But this is supposed to be a tickle fight!” Luffy cooed, squishing the soft torso of their gunner.

“Yohohou’rehehe uhuhunfahahair! Luhuhuhuffyhyhy!”

“Unfair?! You can get me back anytime you want; I’ll even tell you that I’m most ticklish on my ribs! Hey… speaking of which…”

Usopp’s eyes shot open as he felt Luffy’s fingers worm up onto his ribcage. He kicked his feet drastically, accidentally slamming his ankle down on his captain’s shoulder. “LUHUHUFFYHYHY! HYEAHAHAHAHA!”

“Yeowch… No need to get so violent with him, Usopp.” Zoro quipped, clamping his own arms to his sides and trapping the latter’s there. He spidered his fingers under both of the gunner’s arms, cracking an evil smile.

“NGHAHAHAHA! GUHUHUHUYS!” The curly-haired pirate squealed as he threw his head back onto Zoro’s shoulder.

“This tickle fight seems pretty one-sided to me,” Nami quipped, casually chewing on a piece of cheese.

“Just glad it isn’t me,” Sanji retorted quickly, shifting a bit.

The two locked eyes… oh shit.

“MEHEHEHRCYHYHY!! I CAHAHAHANT TAHAHAKE IHIHIHIT! TOO MUHUHUHUCH!!” Usopp cried, head unmoving from Zoro’s shoulder.

Zoro ceased his attack, freeing the long-nosed pirate’s arms.

“LUHUHUHUFFYHYHY PLEHEHEHEASE! M’GOHOHONNA DIHIHIHIE!”

“Hey, enough kid.” Zoro scooped up the winded Usopp, whisking him away to safety.

“Oh man! I didn’t know that you were so ticklish, Usopp! That was fun!”

Sanji whizzed past the three of them, Nami hot on their heels. “NAMI NO- WE CAN TALK ABOUT THIS!”

“You’d think with such long legs that you’d be able to outrun me, Sanji!” The orange-haired girl chimed as she tackled the chef, her fingers finding refuge squeezing at the blonde’s thighs.

2. 🍼 ⋆.ೃ࿔*:･ What was their parent's reaction to holding them for the first time?

Azul was SO proud when he held Nami for the first time- he was the one who took her out of her lil incubator. She wasn’t technically supposed to make it farther than a month, as a runt of an egg, and yet, here she was! In his hands! She’s so small- but. If you asked, Azul would INSIST he didn’t cry. (He did. He bawled his eyes out the MOMENT she wrapped her little tentacles around his arms. He knew in that moment that he’d never be able to say no to that face again.)

Jamil froze, at first. He cradled her in his hands/arms and just stared at her face. He could see little bits of himself and Azul in her and he was kinda just like “ah. This is real.” For a few minutes. And then he just like put her against his chest and would not let go. He held her for DAYS straight. Legitimately the only options were “either I let Azul hold her or I’m holding her.” There was no “put her in a crib to sleep” or anything. Azul had to coax him into letting her sleep in a crib inches away from their own bed so he could sleep more than a few hours every now and then. It took a lot of convincing. He continued to hold onto her crib with his hand while he slept. 

Ruggies first time holding Enzi EVER was full of terror and concern for her- he found her on the side of the road fighting a street dog for food when she was like. Two years old with a GIANT infected bite on her calf. He basically scooped her up in a few seconds while swatting the dog away wondering how the hell this borderline baby got this dirty on the side of the street. Where were her parents. Where was anybody??? Somebody save him he was STRESSING.

Now- for the first time he held her as her legal guardian/dad, he was both, relieved and insanely nervous. Relieved because he knew she’d be out of the hands of the foster parents that were supposedto be watching her, and that he was able to get the legal side of it done quickly (Leona pulled strings after he stormed into his lecture hall bitching abt it), and terrified, because holy shit he has a kid now. He didn’t plan on this!! He held her outside of the hospital she was released from and realized he didn’t even have like, the basics of what kids need outside of the hand me downs Leona had given him from Faraja. And then he saw her face light up and smile at him, and he stopped worrying about it. He’d make it work. (He’d also forgotten to alert his grandma of this decision however, and gave her a mild fright, walking in with a toddler with a freshly amputated leg.)

29. 🏥 ⋆.ೃ࿔*:･ How were they at their first visit to the doctor?

Azul spent about half the time arguing with the hospital itself over getting a specialist. “No, a normal human doctor will not understand her genetic makeup. Get a mer in here or so help him-“ it was already difficult enough explaining cecaelia to other mer people, he didn’t want to have to do that on top of her being half mer to a human. No thank you. The whole time he was high strung to the point that Jamil had to pet him like one pets a rabid chihuahua in a desperate attempt to stop them from biting. It somewhat works.

Jamil on the other hand, was very hover-y around Nami. They tried to take her off alone to run a blood test for something and he was up following them before they’d even closed the door. Jamil’s not as comfortable in hospitals, especially since he’d spent far too much time in them for poison-related incidents, so he’s really on edge having Nami in them. He’s spent a lot of time on planes watching documentaries, he knows about the baby swapping incidents. (he knows logically it’d be near impossible to swap her with anyone, considering all you have to do to check if she’s theirs is dunk her in a tub, but you can’t reason with paranoia.) 

Nami was having a ton of fun though. She spent most of it wrapped around Jamil’s forearm nibbling on his hand like it owed her money.

Ruggie was… extremely delirious when he brought Enzi into the ER. He probably was yelling a bit too much, but he wanted her to get help, and yes, he was going to stay with her, she’s a toddler he found on the side of the road, looking like she’d not seen a bath in like three weeks. He did Not want to make an attempt to contact her parents, if they showed up right now, he may fight them. Sure, he’ll take responsibility for her and her bills, just help her. 

Eventually the doctors told him that she’d need to have her leg amputated from infection, and that they needed a guardian to sign off on it, he went on a minor hunt to find out exactly WHO was supposed to be watching her, and dragged her (very shitty) foster parents to the er to sign the damn paper, because he wasn’t gonna let this kid get any more hurt.

49. 🩸 ⋆.ೃ࿔*:･ What was their first injury?What was their reaction? What was their parents reaction?

Nami first got injured underwater, actually. She can move a lot more much sooner in her mer form, so she was only about… like 9/10 months old when it happened. It was really minor, a crab had pinched her for accidentally dropping a few tentacles on its head. Except- its grip was actually quite a bit stronger then it needed to be, and it snipped off the very end of one of her tentacles. And she freaked out. She screamed so loud the echo it sent through the water could be heard from FAR away, and basically everyone there. Azul’s mom actually got to her first, sweeping her up in her arms and swishing her arm to disperse the blood in the water from her injury. Jamil and Azul were RIGHT behind her, and Nami immediately being treated like she was dying did NOT help her from calming down. In their defense though- Octomer babies are rare, so both Azul’s and his mom’s instincts are to protect the one they DID manage to get very well, and Jamil is. Jamil. 

So safe to say they did eat that crab for dinner. Rip to the little guy for trying to defend himself, but blah blah blah, the circle of life. Nami did eat one of his legs though. Enzi’s first injury she remembers is. Well her leg. But I’ve been talking abt that, so let me talk abt the thing tangentially related- the absence of her leg had a HUGE learning curve, because well, she was two. She fell on her face a LOT in the time frame when they were waiting for her prosthetic to come in, and she scraped up her knees bad. It’s difficult to explain to a toddler what phantom pains on, and how even if she feels like she’s still got that foot, it isn’t there, and she can’t walk like she used to. It broke Ruggies heart at first, because during those first months, she was really skittish around him too. He had to be really gentle with her, and even when she fell hard and scratched up her elbows, he couldn’t go rush over to her, because she took that as getting bum rushed or potentially attacked and BIT in self defense. She did get over that stage tho!
