⇢ even to those who weren’t there to witness his many achievements, neuvillette is known to many students as somewhat of a god. during exam season, he is one of the idols that students pray to in hopes for their academic success. within the student council, the officers try their best to emulate their predecessor’s work ethics in order to uphold the legacy he’s left behind. people talk highly of him, the student council president who’s responsible and wise beyond his years, and even zhongli (known to be his most abhorred rival) has to begrudgingly give him a few compliments when asked.

⇢ neuvillette was civil yet distant to anyone who tried to approach him, but you would always remember his gentle gaze the moment he set eyes on you. when you were still a freshman, it was neuvillette who had eased you into settling in an academy with manners and etiquette that perplexed your commoner mind. while everyone sneered and gossiped about the resident charity case, it was neuvillette’s stern gaze that had them scattering and his warm hand guiding you into his office for shelter from the stress and gossip.

⇢ even now that he has graduated, it is always coincidence that bring you together when you go to town. he’s always spoiling you whenever you do, and you always find yourself telling him your troubles over a cup of tea and a slice of cake. you don’t know why, but you always yearn for his gentle strokes on your head as he tells you how good of a job you’re doing. maybe it’s because you’re tired of all these men pushing you and pulling you apart, and that there is some comfort to be sought in neuvillette’s calm attentiveness.

⇢ … coincidence, was it? you have no idea how distraught neuvillette was during his graduation ceremony, seeing your wide eyes stare up at him from the crowd while he delivered his farewell speech. you have no idea about how his irate possessiveness seemed to overturn every sensible wit he had about him as he imagined what those less-than-sensible men would do to you now that you were away from his tight protection. so he knew he had to take every opportunity to meet you outside academy walls. he won’t stoop to something so low as stalking, but taking note of your usual schedule isn’t a crime, right?

⇢ it was obvious the moment you stepped into academy grounds that you would attract lots of unwanted and non-ideal attention. you were prey jumping into predator hunting grounds, and so neuvillette is well-aware of this… harem you’ve unknowingly built on your own. if he could, he would immediately dispose of them as people of his blood would. but he is a man of justice. he would rather die of thirst than hold your hand with his bloodied hands. he has a conscience, unlike those brutes in your little fan club.

⇢ conscience… yes… he knows that there are crimes that have already been committed in your name. there must be. but it’s hard to find sufficient evidence when the academy is a cesspool of corruption and elitism, when everyone has the money and authority to shush up their evildoings. one day, he will bring to light the deviltry these men are hiding behind their carefully crafted facades. and though neuvillette is not a man of many emotions, he wonders if he’d be able to hide the glee on his face when he sends them behind bars.

⇢ unlike his overachieving fellow fontainians, wriothesley tends to keep it lowkey and is content with just graduating at an elite academy. besides, it’s not like he has anything to show for himself other than… tea brewing and being awfully good at throwing punches. sadly, the academy doesn’t have a boxing club he can join to show off his talents, but at least he can have some use by protecting you.

⇢ wriothesley is the misunderstood bad boy type. it’s already bad enough that he comes from a dishonored family, but to make matters worse, rumors were going around saying that he’s killed someone. maybe more than one. and it’s not like wriothesley is doing anything to subjugate these rumors— he just laughs and flashes you a teasing grin, saying that maaaybe or maaaybe not he’s actually killed. but you refuse to believe it. those scarred, calloused hands are always careful not to hurt you whenever he lovingly ruffles your hair, and those scarred fists aren’t for hurting; they’re to protect.

⇢ the outcast kids revere him as an idol of sorts, and you’re one of them. how could you not? despite his low standing, he’s not afraid to say what’s on his mind, even at the risk of offending the higher elites. sure, he’s always teasing and flirting with you with that dirty grin of his, but he always takes care not to cross the line. although you do wish he would erase his tendency to skip classes (and whisking you away to drag you down with him), there are very few people with whom you feel safer with. 

⇢ the wolf in sheep’s clothing. gentleness, casual grins, friendly conversations… that used to all come naturally to him until you came along. came along with those naive and scared eyes, alone in an unfamiliar environment, and the relief that flooded in them the moment he protected you from harassers. from the moment he had met you, it felt like his past self was something that he had to keep up. every teasing remark hid the strong urge to pounce at you and to bully you till you cried.

⇢ he knows better than to pick on the weak— that’s why he killed them, for fuck’s sake— but there’s something about you that makes every common sense he has about him go right out of the window. and fuck, that’s really fucking funny, ‘cuz it seems that you have the same effect on some dozen other men. and those dozen other men have picked up on his bloodlust too, because they’re eyeing each other up whenever one of them has you hanging prettily on their arms. and you’re so naive too, because you just wave at the other like there’s no problem at all, and archons does that grate on wriothesley’s nerves.

⇢ he wants to teach you a lesson about what happens to kids who play with too many toys and with too little care. you’re spoiled for choice, aren’t ya? but that’s the problem. he doesn’t want you to have choices. you’re the only thing in his life that that’s got him fucked up like this, and he doesn’t know whether to hate you or love you for it but he knows he’s obsessed.

⇢ lyney is a grade-a charmer; everyone knows that. compared to his more introverted siblings, lyney is always so approachable and friendly with everyone that you can’t help but smile the minute he enters the same space as you. he easily gives out compliments to whomever, wherever. when people say, “you say that to everybody, don’t you?” with a tickled grin, he laughs and only winks mysteriously. they can’t even be mad, not when he is so boyishly charming that he melts even the coldest of hearts.

⇢ and yet no one can actually say that they’re friends with the boy. friendly acquaintances, maybe? but maybe it’s because he always tends to slip away the moment it’s time to open hearts. with you, his favorite senior, this problem of his gets worse. he always lights up whenever you show up, running over to you with the biggest smile and a new magic trick to show you. he’s always blabbering about some embarrassing story that happened to freminet or talking about the newest gossip around campus, so you thought that maybe he feels closer to you than anybody.

⇢ so it… hurts when he seems to slip away the second you think you’re getting closer to him. you can’t help the crestfallen look on your face when he starts backing away. his violet eyes waver, taking in your disappointment, and bites his lip before he musters the phoniest smile you’ve seen on teyvat. everyone has things to hide, you don’t fault him, so all you really can do is be patient. 

⇢ he’s got it bad. this yearning in his heart, the way he sometimes finds himself slipping and giving into your gentle touches… he has it real bad. as a rule of thumb, it’s extremely inappropriate to get close with normal, innocent people, and even more inappropriate to catch feelings. he beats himself up over for it. he is meant to be the next head of their organization, so he can’t… he can’t fuck everything up just for one… one person who happens to understand him… one person who’s so beautiful that… archons, this is terrible.

⇢ you have some sort of magic about you that has him feeling flustered at the worst times, and even his skill as an actor sometimes fails to hide the blush on his face. he wants to experience normalcy with you: carnival dates, matching outfits, soft launches on social media. yet his position forbids him… and so do his tendencies. feline eyes watching your every move from afar, narrowing whenever one of your suitors puts an arm around your neck… or dulling when he sees you confronted by threats.

⇢ father has advised him not to touch a hair on any of the students on campus, but he hasn’t said anything about outside threats. whether you’re cornered by backstreet thugs or professional mercenaries, they always seem to end up dead one way or another. you’re not sure how you managed to attract such a violent guardian angel, nor do you know whether to be thankful for it or not. meanwhile, lyney is fighting for their prey with the other men who are just as eager to protect you as he is, and he’s really not quite pleased with the game.

⇢ compared to his more charismatic brother, freminet feels more like a robot whenever he’s approached. it’s not that he’s trying to be rude, per se, but it’s his natural instinct to retreat behind a cold facade whenever faced with someone new. he was like that with you, too! always curt whenever talked to, slipping away the moment you looked somewhere else. he continued to do so until you eventually noticed that he started hanging out with you more, enjoying the quiet between you two and not flinching away whenever you pat his head.

⇢ he’s not one to initiate hugs, so you always thought that he was averse to physical touch. but he always seems to melt whenever you bring him into a hug, cheek squished against your chest as you both relish in each other’s warmth. you can see his shocked expression and hair prickling like a cat’s whenever you slip your hand in his, but you grin deviously when he relents and even holds your hand tighter as you walk the halls. you always seem to have fun teasing him like this, though you try not to push him overboard, as much as you’d like seeing his expressions.

⇢ perhaps the most endearing thing of it all is how he hides behind your back whenever someone approaches you. he always seems to be wary around your male friends (suitors), immediately taking refuge behind you as soon as they chat you up. you can feel his grip tightening on you and how the glances your friend sends his way grow in frequency the more the conversation drags on. you chalk it up to freminet’s shyness acting up and end the conversation for his sake.

⇢ you… might be the most perfect thing he’s ever laid eyes on. very few people in the world are willing to put up with his robotic tendencies, and even fewer are the people who stay and spend time with him like you. well, maybe only you. lyney and lynette don’t count because they’re his sibling, but you started as a stranger and now you’ve placed yourself in a very dear part of his heart. 

⇢ you’ve never seen how robotic and lifeless he is when you’re not around. those periwinkle eyes only light up the moment he sees you, looking at you like you’re the only good thing to exist in the room. even lyney and lynette are disturbed by how fast the switch-up is, though they can understand because it is you, after all. he knows it’s bad to indulge himself in these feelings, especially with his line of work, but he has neither the restraint nor discipline lyney has over his feelings. he’s so alien to these emotions that he can’t help but give in to this feeling called love when you’re with him.

⇢ again, member of house of the hearth. he’s no stranger to killing people, but he is a stranger to killing people for others. he’s only committed crimes under the orders of his father, so this newfound willingness to kill just to keep you safe and happy is… new. to say he is deeply disturbed by these feelings is an understatement— he’s completely distraught. he wants to continue being the innocent shy boy that you fawn over, but… but these men make it so hard to do it!

⇢ gaming might be everyone’s favorite boy! diligent, energetic, friendly… down-to-earth?! he’s a fresh personality in this academy full of snobbish rich kids. he’s definitely one of yours, seeing as he doesn’t act like he’s the son of the ceo of a multimillion tea company. when he first approached you, you actually thought that he might be like you! he’s not decked out in fancy bling, nor does he straight-up ask you which business you’re affiliated with like the others do.

⇢ it’s very seldom you see him not surrounded by a group of people. you suppose that’s the consequence of having a magnetic personality, because he seems to attract people everywhere. although, it is quite clear that he makes a special case for you. everytime he sees you, he always breaks away from the group and sends them an apologetic wave and smile before throwing his arm over your shoulders. you’ve been at this school long enough to know that being someone’s favorite will earn you people’s ire… but those worries are thrown out the window the minute he looks at you with those gentle eyes and boyish grin.

⇢ what did they say about hard-working men again? ah, yes. it’s always so attractive to see men actually working, lifting the heavy stuff, shirt stained with sweat wrought by labor. if you’re one of those people, then you might find yourself eyeing gaming for far longer than it is appropriate. his father always taught him to never take things for granted and thus instilled the importance of hard labor in him, even if he’s a ceo’s son. young gaming complained and threw tantrums, but when he sees you eyeing him from afar, he can’t help but thank his dad as he flexes his muscles and lifts the delivery boxes even higher.

⇢ don’t take things for granted, huh? … well, if there’s one thing gaming is grateful to his old man for, it’s that all his annoying nagging has finally made sense to him. you always tell him how magnetic and well-loved he is, how you wish you could be like him… but have you seen yourself? you are magnetic, in ways that gaming wishes you weren’t. you attract all sorts of dangerous and powerful me,n and gaming doesn’t know about powerful, but he’s definitely one of the dangerous ones.

⇢ don’t be fooled by that easygoing grin and his lighthearted flirts. he doesn’t know how you don’t notice it, with the way he unashamedly trails his eyes on every curve and detail on your figure over dim sum dinner (that he’s treated you to again for the nth time this month). are you being oblivious, or do you just not see gaming like that? it makes him a bit irritated, thinking about how you respond to other men’s flirts, but it’s best not to think about it. gaming’s never been the overthinking type. just do what must be done, his father says. and he must have you. all to himself.

⇢ he’s as overprotective as he is charming. disturbingly so, might you add. it unsettles you, the way his big amber eyes grow dull as he accosts the person whose hands played with you on the train. you can hear a crack from how tight gaming is gripping their hand. this isn’t the first time he’s done this either. he’s always so scary with people who gives you a hard time, and he’s not afraid to do it in front of you either (or rather, he has not the self-control to let them go unpunished for even a single second). you always have to step in and make sure he doesn’t go overboard. it’s a relief that gaming is so willing to listen to you, but the hand on your shoulder always seems deadly when you both walk away.

💀💀💀 are they actually trying to one-up scaramouche in bullying you? the first time scara sees them slamming you into lockers and sneering at you, he immediately feels threatened. who does this plebeian think they are, taking up the space in your life that's already been filled by him? for a few weeks, you find your life surprisingly silent as scara diverts his attention to the bully so he can bully him out of... bullying you? don't get too comfortable though, because he's going right back to you once he finishes up.

tighnari watches the exchange happen from across the room, tail swishing back and forth as the bully dumps water all over your newly ironed uniform. their laughter is grating on his highly-sensitive ears, but he tolerates it just so that he can zero in on that pretty expression fo yours— hands clenched in your lap, the slight quiver of your bottom lip, and the tears in your eyes that you blink back rapidly. he'll leave the situation alone, enjoy the show for a little bit, the put a lil something in their drinks once he gets sick of it.

cyno thinks he must have been slacking off, because who in their right mind would bully you with a guard dog like him lurking around?! it's not easy to approach you, so the only chances people get to bully you is when they're powerful, powerful people and you chose not to tell him in fear of getting him in trouble. once he finds out, he's mad at you, at himself, and at the bullies. he does not care if they have money or whatever; they are getting a spear to their throat, and he knows some other more powerful people who would agree with his decision.

kaeya immediately takes advantage of the situation. oh, poor you. he pats your back and coos as you sob into his chest. what a terrible situation to be in! he whispers soft reassurances as he combs your hair, playing the part of the sympathetic senior when in reality he's grinning inside. he was getting lonely without you around, what with having your attention stolen by the dozens of men in your harem. luckily, he happened to be nearby when a bullying incident happened, and therefore the nearest shoulder you could cry on.

it's very hard to crack academy! ayato's carefully maintained facade, especially since the kamisato clan's first born has been taught to never show vulnerabilities. he acknowledges your flirting with amusement, but it doesn't really affect him. it's when you show genuine kindness that has him short-circuiting internally. when you pat his head and acknowledge all the hard effort his done, he can barely say anything before he clears his throat and turns away. later, behind closed doors, he covers his mouth as he recalls your kind eyes and the tender way they looked at him. it drives him mad, the way such a silly gesture has him in a chokehold, but most importantly, it has him hiding his overheated face in his cool hands.

academy! zhongli doesn't get flustered. he pats your head endearingly when you try to flirt and distract you with a story and tea. the only person who can make him lose his cool is neuvillette, who he is very afraid of (though he doesn't show it). he makes a point to avoid him at all costs whenever he hears that he's in the vicinity, and when you catch him hiding he miserably tries to feign ignorance. another way to make him crack is when someone brings up his past of delinquency and begins coughing and starts to stop and distract everyone. unfortunately for him, venti is a very persistent storyteller so he often gets a teacup unceremoniously hurled at him.

academy! heizou is usually the one doing the flustering, so you don't often find him at the receiving end of it. but bolder darlings will realize that it's actually quite easy to see him a blushing mess when you give him the same energy back— if not more. you see, heizou's a bit too cowardly to go beyond brief touches and flirty remarks. so when a darling decides to play coy and tease him with more, he gets so taken aback that he just stops and freezes as he tries to process what just happened. he'll laugh it off, teasing you back about such scandalous behavior on your part. but his face is still tomato-red and his eyes refuse to look at you, so you know that you've won the game.

i just imagine a darling that gives... no fucks whatsoever. they don't care. they act sorta high and chill but if you ask for their opinion it's delivered with such nonchalance that you can't even take offense lol

you'd be giving diluc heart attacks every time. do you remember where you are? this is the academy for the elite of the elite. one wrong move and you'd have enemies on your trail. you might've told off a classmate for being a bitch, and diluc has had to threaten them into dropping those false charges against you to keep you safe. of course, you are none the wiser.

thoma has to be your interpreter every time you pull one of your shenanigans. someone may have asked you about what you think of their project and you could be like ":/ it's good :/ but didn't you make [insert some poor dude] do it for—" and he has to slap a hand over your mouth and nervously laugh and go all like "ahahaha i think they mean you and [insert bullied dude] did such a good job on the collaboration!!!" scolds you to be more mindful in this kind of environment

xingqiu is a menace and he absolutely encourages this behavior. likes to watch you tell it to these rich people's faces like how it is and laugh quietly behind whatever book he's reading. he knows you just don't really care about the consequences of your actions, but he thinks that the mess you always make is so entertaining.

you just give more reasons for scaramouche to hate you. like for real? can't you at least try to act like you're bothered by him. he hates it when he gives you a snide remark and you just tell him to stop bothering you just cuz he has an inferiority complex. pops a blood vessel every time you're near, on god.

no because this would definitely grate on scaramouche's nerves. although he likes to show off that he doesn't actually put much effort into his studies, he's actually one of the most hardworking students out there. always straining himself to beat the others and especially his older sister ei.

so when you, his seatmate, just dozes off in class without a single care in the world, he sneers and belittles you. you have some nerve to be lazing around when you're a scholarship student who could easily get kicked out with a bad grade. sleepy darling doesn't respond of course, because they're too groggy from their nap to listen.

before scara realizes it, you're scoring As on your quizzes, getting perfects on your exam. and that just. kills him. kills him inside. he did so much work to be at the top and for what? to be matched by a nobody who lazes around? unacceptable. this was unacceptable.

kaveh is shaking inside as he's holding his phone in shaky hands. that pretty lil brain of his is going into overdrive as he's overthinking about your relationship with this unfamiliar guy. th– that hand around your waist... people only do that when there's something between you, right?! the sumeru group watches him have a breakdown ate their lunch table, not caring less about some guy you posted online, but kaveh clearly doesn't think the same. when he sees you next time, he latches onto you and tries to be subtle about asking about this boy. he's so obvious about it that you'd have to be stupidly oblivious to not notice him sweating buckets and eyes darkening whenever you talk about this friend of yours.

chongyun is really curious about this guy. xingqiu watches him pace nervously up and down the room as he practices trying to ask you about him. he watches on in amusement as the exorcist grows increasingly frustrated with himself about his awkward attempts at starting the conversation. xingqiu is above jealousy towards a guy who barely counts as a competitor (he's not even eligible to enter the academy, for archon's sake!), but chongyun is going into overheat worrying about it. he's clinging and whining to xingqiu about this rando, and xingqiu laughs and tells him not to worry about it. when you see him next time though, he continues to act cool and composed, though he elbows his best friend a bit too hard whenever he randomly bursts into laughter.I

academy! mika starts panicking when he realizes that another freak has joined him on following your daily route throughout the academy. he starts rambling to his fellow first years about how worrying this is! and that they should— he should protect you! but he doesn't quite know how to go about confronting this stalker and he's worried that he might be overreacting that he might be just overthinking things. the others sit in amused silence. this isn't your first time having stalkers (bennett clamps razor's mouth before he can speak up about his own stalking), and the fact that your most obvious stalker is worrying about another is kind of funny.

the stakes are higher in the hybrid au, so obviously no stalker will be left untouched... or unhurt. as one of your most prominent shadows, hybrid! xiao can easily catch any rat trying to sneak up on you. your whole security team actually, but being one of the more powerful ones, xiao is usually the one to snatch them up. he doesn't take his time and already has a spear to the poor guy's neck, ready to behead them. the others have to stop him so that they can get some more intel about him. he's a bit huffy about letting dirt like that live for a bit longer, but he lets the others do their thing while his steely gaze is on the interrogated's head for the rest of the questioning.

househusband! kazuha gets pretty protective when a stalker shows up while he's... protecting you from afar. in fact, this entire situation just further cements how much you need his protection! he confronts your stalker with a gentle smile, pretty enough that they would've thought he was just some friendly passerby. but that all changes when kazuha has a sword to his neck and they start panicking because— who carries a sword in modern day teyvat?! and oh archons he feels his flesh splitting. kazuha's pretty merciless when it comes to anything that could pose a threat to you, and he does all this with his gentlemanly smile that you don't even notice the stench of blood when you come home to him and his cooking.

hoping to sneak some sort of reaction out of him, you inch closer to his drawings. he’s never had a problem with you looking at his unfinished work and yet his strong but gentle hand reach out and firmly root you to your position. “don’t move,” he mutters. and then a long period of silence follows, but this time his eyes study every inch of your face and body.

"don't you think you're starin' at me a bit too much?" you croon, flashing one of your mischievous grins at the ever stoic student with the hope of alleviating some of the awkardness you feel. "someone might think you have a crush on me.”

“maybe i do,” he hums. “what about it?” it’s so nonchalant that it’d pass through anyone’s ears as a joke, but you’re so hyper-aware of everything right now that the blush starts rising to your cheeks, gaping at him with an open mouth.

“wh– what?!” you hate how squeaky your voice is.

“oh nothing,” he resumes back to his sketching before he gives you a glance over and smirks at you. “don’t you think you’re blushing too much? someone might think you have a crush on me.”

“a– albedo!”

no one knows how xiao lets you get away with how overly touchy you are. you’re not exactly what they’d imagine to be hanging around xiao. you smile too much, flirt and tease with people, and you drag the boy around to places almost embarassing to be seen at. but xiao follows anyway. one moment he’ll go: “hmph. and why should i?” but when you pout and just whine about going with another boy, he’s immediately latching onto your arm.

you’re aware of how differently xiao treats you and to be honest, you’re a little bit smug. you like to exert your power over him time to time. pushing a little too close or trailing your fingers up his surprisingly toned muscles just to tease him.

“you’re shameful,” he’d huff and look away, but you’re delighted at how his porcelain face turns into a bright cherry shade and continue teasing him anyway.

xiao is aware of this power you have over him, but he doesn’t stop you. he likes this warm and fluttery feeling you overwhelm him with. still, it’d be nice if he could change the tables for a moment and make you stutter and blush instead.

this musing of his is shelved away in his mind until an impromptu study date comes up. poring over your textbooks for the upcoming quiz, you snack away on some nuts to help you concentrate. when xiao looks up, he sees some crumbs on you’re too focused to notice. absentmindedly, he reaches over the table and slides a finger to wipe away the crumbs. you take this the wrong.

“wh- what are you doing?!” you squeak, face blaring red. “we’re studying, you know!”

he hushes you. “hold still.”

he brings the finger to his mouth and licks up the food, confused at your shock and embarassment but no questioning it. he sits back down and resumes his studies while you spend the rest of the session covering your face with a book and fanning your face. xiao remains ever oblivious as he focuses on passing the test, unaware that his wish has already been granted.

kazuha takes your flirtatious advances seriously, because well, romance and love must be taken seriously. somewhere in the back of his mind he can sense that you’re just joking... still, let kazuha delude himself for a tiny bit.

all flirty remarks of yours are responded with sincere and genuine exclamations of love which has you blushing and running away with every encounter with him. you don’t even know why you bother anymore, but perhaps it’s the urge to see the ever so calm and serene kazuha lose his composure because of you.

it’s for the sake of blushy kazuha! you pump yourself up before pushing open the classroom doors. the boy idles by the window sill, away from the chatter of your classmates. your presence immediately has him perking up and smiling at you from across the room. you take a deep breath and close your eyes.

steam puffs out of your ears at being called out, and you stumble back, glaring at him. “i-i’ll get you one day, kazu! i swear i will!” and when you make a tactical retreat, kazuha only laughs to himself before fondly kissing the finger that held your lock of hair so tenderly.

you honestly thought that thoma would be the easily flustered type, but he's really not. it's always the same reaction out of him: you flirt, he stops, stares, and his lips crack into a brilliant yet amused smile. your charms, that have flawlessly worked on both me and women, are received like an elder brother witnessing their sibling's antics.

it makes your blood boil! really! the audacity of this guy to just shrug off your remarks when you're already growing desperate to get a reaction out of him! you up your charisma, bat your lashes more, but no, nada! it makes you a bit insecure— juuuust a little. is your allure starting to wane?

you're sulkily poking at your lunchbox, too caught up with your little dilemma to actually eat. thoma notices from across you, and his brows pinch together in concern as he regards your expression.

his eyes widen at the question. "o– of course, i do, [your name]! there's no one in this school who doesn't find you attractive." something dark flickers in his eyes for a moment as he mutters lowly. "believe me."

that shadow disappears as soon as it comes, and squeezes your hands reassuringly. "more than just being attractive, i like you for who you are." his soft green eyes crease downward in a fond look, and you think your heart is racing a hundred miles per second. "i'm here with you, aren't i?"

you do your utmost best to respond, but your tongue fails you. your brain has short-circuited, and you can barely hear anything than the pounding of your heart and the muffled worried calls of your name. you slump in your seat, steam coming out of your brain and dizzy from the heartburn. you are defeated at your game.

there are advantages and disadvantages to flirting with the scaramouche. when you shoot him one of your teasing remarks or sidle a bit too close to his side, the people around you look at you like you're crazy.

and you are. you're crazy obsessed with his reactions, how sardonic and dry-humor they are but so cute and feisty. so what if his glares keep getting scarier and scarier, if his lips curl up in a sneer whenever he sees you. you don't waste a single moment in trying to get a reaction out of him!

your mind blanks out at the sudden accusation and you can feel the heat rising in your face. "o–obsessed with you? don't be absurd! i– you– you're not the only one, you know! don't get too full of yourself." your face reddens further as his smirk only grows, and you stomp your foot childishly. "believe me!"

"tut, tut, [last name]. you won't get further in this society if you wear your hearts on a sleeve like that. but don't worry." he lifts your chin up with a slender finger, and as much as that knowing grin of his is humiliating, you can't help but appreciate how alluring the expression is on him. "since you're so obsessed with me, i don't mind letting a commoner like you live under my care when the time calls for it."

i know awhile ago you got an ask about the alliances of the academy boys, so would u mind if I asked about the rivals? I mean I'm sure they all have rivalry with each other one way or another, but do any of them have specific rivals? like one of them just absolutely cannot stand another person in the harem, therefore purposely goes out of their way to sabotage that rival specifically? and I wonder if any of them did have specific rivals, if the other harem members would ever intervene? probably not, but maybe some of the more orderly and/or passive ones might try to prevent fights from breaking out

whenever kaeya and diluc are together with you, you're in for a very tense situation. kaeya's chosen to isolate himself from the ragnivindirs after a fight with diluc, so the two don't get along very well. it's not that they hate each other, but diluc doesn't trust kaeya and kaeya thinks that diluc is a bore. they don't really agree on how they should treat you: kaeya believes that romance should be fun, better regret doing it than not experiencing it, while diluc believes that love is locking you away where the horrors of the world can't reach you.

alhaitham and kaveh are sort of rivals, though haitham will always have the upper hand. kaveh's paranoia shoots up whenever you're around the stoic bastard, knowing exactly what filthy thoughts he has while he looks at you and pretends that he's unfazed. haitham is content to just sit back and let kaveh panic, because what could the man probably do to him? haitham is a star student, respected by the student body and faculty, while kaveh was a former valedictorian candidate who can barely keep his life together.

neuvillette and zhongli were very tense rivals when you were a first-year. the two could barely stand being in the same room with each other without it devolving into a verbal war. if they were younger they would have probably lunged at each other's throats already. but zhongli's not a delinquent anymore, and neuvi cares too much about how he appears in front of you to dare show you that side of his. thankfully, neuvi has graduated and is currently in the main island studying in uni, so they don't see much of each other anymore.

it's scara against the world, sadly :( he doesn't care for niceties, and he'll pick a fight with just about anyone. not even ayato can handle him, especially since the raidens are in a higher position than the kamisatos. not many of the harem members like him, though the sumeru men are on (kind of) friendly terms with him. his notable rival is childe, but childe likes to fight anyone and everyone so that doesn't really count.

you're as easily influenced as you are naive, so everybody can't help but despair at the sight of you trotting down the halls sporting a red streak on your bangs. there's only one man who'd be pushy enough to get you one just to match with him.

everyone whips their head around to see arataki itto following closely behind you, a self-satisfied look on his face. they're not surprised. of course, the arataki itto would drag you into his shenanigans.

"were they bullied into it?" "you think anyone would bully them?" "but it's itto." "he's an idiot... and so are they."

when you enter your classroom, there's a circle of students who's immediately putting a barrier between you and the big man. they're not just your harem, but normal classmates who know that they can't afford losing their answer sheet to the wrong path. everyone starts questioning him, accusing him of somehow corrupting you. it's just a lock of hair dyed red, but they're already acting like you've been initiated into the arataki gang.

"if [y. name] starts skipping classes with you then who am i supposed copy off of at the next history quiz?!" one angry classmate jabs a finger into his chest. they wince.

itto puts his hands up, startled at the angry mob before him. "woah woah woah, guys it's just hair dye—"

"just?!" your classmate cries out, affronted. "do you know how much i need them to tutor me? i won't allow your gang to to take them away."

"well, they're not initiated yet—"

"yet?!"

"guys, guys, calm down." thankfully, thoma's kind voice helps abate the angry mob's fuming. he's fixing your hair, gently making sure to style it in a way that best shows off your red lock. "don't be too harsh on the big guy. as he said, it's just hair dye."

itto looks sparkly-eyed at thoma, touched at his coming to his defense. "thoma, my bro...!"

"that said." thoma's smile turns sharp. "if i hear another word about you initiating [y. name] into your gang, i'll tell ayato and it will be community service for you and the arataki gang, okay?" his green eyes are kind, but itto doesn't miss the heavy warning behind them. he gulps and quickly nods his head.

meanwhile, you're checking yourself in your front camera, delightedly patting your hair down as you admire thoma's handiwork. hmm... this shade of red looks particularly good on you. should you dye your entire hair instead?

to count, venti is the only actual bard in the harem cast. well, they don't really refer to them as bards in this modern day and age, but he can sing. he's one of the easiest yanderes to run away from— hell, you can even give him a black eye with enough determination. so you can take him in a fight. itto can do a pretty mean belt at the karaoke, but his singing often comes off as obnooxious that no one quite acknowledges his talent. and you absolutely cannot take him in a fight. man does not want to hurt you, but he can. have you seen the size of those biceps?!

for dancers, there's a lot. a lot of the rich kids grew up needing to know how to dance— them elites and their fancy balls— so most of them can do a waltz or two. there are those who are trained in specializations, however. scara has been trained in the inazuman traditional arts since birth, and kenbu is one of them. no, you cannot take him in a fight. this overachiever has several black belts under him. another sword dancer is xingqiu, but unlike scara he does it super casually since he'd rather sword fight than sword dance so he skipped out on his jian wu classes as a kid. also another hard no. he will hold a sword to your throat and smile while doing so. gaming dances and he dances good. although he prides himself in his lion dancing, he does hiphop pretty well and even participates in dance competitions for fun. you can, sorta take him?? gaming really doesn't wanna hurt you, so he'll take your hits if it makes you feel better. but when he gets desperate, he can easily overpower the average darling (unless you're some sorta combat god, then you'll have a chance, man's a dancer, not a fighter).

oh, and itto can do a pretty mean breakdance too, just so you know.

And shit, he can hear you turning the doorknob when he's still scrambling to rub off the red specks on his cheek—

"Ajax, you were so late! Where were you? It's past nine, darling, you had me so—!"

You freeze. He freezes. The two of you watch each other with bated breath. The dried blood itches his cheek. Fuck, how was he gonna explain this to you? Oh, right, Snezhnayans like to hunt. But you're not in Snezhnaya! You were smack dab in a suburban neighborhood! Maybe he can slip in a drug to make you forget—

"Soooo worried!" Your face breaks out into a wide grin as you usher him back into the comfort of your home. "You could have at least texted me, you know? Oh! And don't worry about dinner. You roll your eyes but giggle at his confidence. "You narcissist. C'mon, I'm hungry. Let's eat."

"I'll wash the dishes babe, you just wash up and wait for me in bed." He sends a disgustingly exaggerated kiss your way, to which you wrinkle your nose and stick your tongue at. His fond face is the last you see before you slam the bathroom door shut.
