I just need to get it out there that I have Yokai Watch OCs I have no ideas what to do with- just like all my OCs...
It's a tough and snarky kitsune type thing named Chikyu (Also referred to as Tall Tails) who likes to run around and trick people, and their human companion Kyouya. A sad little scardy cat who makes Keita (Nate) look like a military commander. It's easy to bully Kyouya, he won't fight back. But his Yokai WILL. THAT IS THIS FOX'S CHILD. THEIR CHILD THAT ANNOYS THEM AND GETS IN THEIR WAY, BUT STILL THEIR SON.
(Interestingly, despite his cowardice, Kyouya finds the commonly feared Manjimutt absolutely adorable, make of that what you will.)

C'mon Yo-Kai Let's be friends! Chapter Five - Getting Down to Business..
Current Word Count: 3,615 words 20,214 characters
The air filled up with huffs and grunts as the two kids raced towards the town hall, with Ellow close behind them. If anyone else was around at the moment, they’d think the kids were running away from some sort of unseen monster, which would be ironically speaking, as Ellow was close behind them, but more so following them.
“Just a little further guys!” Momoka wheezed, and Taki replied with a wordless, determined nod.
He has a gut feeling that something is amidst, and that feeling was confirmed the moment he heard Momoka let out a shocked exclamation the moment she turned the corner. Taki and Ellow followed, and their eyes grew wide at the sight:
The town statue was demolished. Rubble scattering among the decorated stone pavement. The only thing that seemed to remain is the plaque, but even then it was obscured by chunks of rubble.
Ellow whispered, horrid at the sight. “Oh, my enma…”
As the group inched a bit closer to the statue, and took a moment to gaze at the statue, a sudden cry grabbed their attention.
“Momoka!”
The pig-tailed girl sharply turned her head towards an approaching figure; it was Sumiko! Equally terrified and shocked as they were.
“Sumiko!” Momoka shouted, the group rushing towards the head-band kid to meet her halfway. “What-what happened??”
“I have no clue!” She responded, turning towards the destroyed statue. “I was on my way home after running a quick errand for my mom - then BAM!”
Sumiko frantically waved her arms toward the destroyed statue. “Azalea’s prized statue DESTROYED!”
“Huh?” Taki furrowed his eyebrows. “Prized statue??”
Sumiko and Momoka gazed at Taki with a somber look, the pig-tailed body facing towards the boy completely.
“Yes, well, it’s considered a prize to many of Azalea Height’s residents, even us. It had a history..” Momoka started—
Although the history behind its origin and creation remains a mystery to this day, it still served as a source of courage, compassion, and hope, past and present.
In the past, Azalea Height was in the middle of a war, and although the people from that time didn’t involve themselves in that war, they still suffered from it. On top of that, illness ran rampant during that time as well.
So, the people of that time came to the tree, to pray or even get a glimpse of it, even if it was just an ordinary statue. But, it wasn’t, no. Because somehow, in some way, the people became struck with newfound courage, as if it was magic.
Because of the statue, the people of Azalea Height decided to end the wars themselves - by forcing the two opposing groups to surrender and compromise. As for the rampant illness, one day as a farmer served water to his bedridden wife, she suddenly started to feel better! It was as if the water was not only purified but had healing properties!
And thus, everyone had grown to truly value the statue, regardless of its origin. —
“Or as told by our schools and parents, but I believe them to be true.” Momoka finished.
Taki blinked, awed by Momoka’s tale. To think a statue would have extreme value to its citizens. He let out a hum, a finger tapping against his chin as he took a glance at the statue, thinking to himself.
The others watched in silence, curiously and questioning themselves on what Taki could be thinking about at this very moment. But as Momoka inched closer to snap the goggled boy out of his thoughts, Taki gleamed sharply.
“We need to confront Haruto,” He exclaimed, turning towards the others. “And we need a group of yo-kai to do it!”
As Momoka's face scrunched with uncertainty and Ellow gave a determined nod, Sumiko stood there with confusion plastered on her face.
“Yo-kai???” She queried, and Taki and Momoka stood there with wide, blank faces, realizing they left a small detail from Sumiko.
“...Right,” Taki muttered, before clearing his throat roughly, unsure of how to, once again, explain the existence of yo-kai to another human. “Yeah, so, I explained it to Momoka, but yeah- Yo-kai is real..”
There was a pause in the air for a moment, and the two other kids winced as they felt they had made Sumiko uneasy with a horrifying fact. Or had concluded that both of them are nuts.
But, She stood there, her eyes wide as if she was trying to process something.
Momoka mumbled. “Sumiko…?”
… “...I think we broke her Mo-”
“YOKAI ARE REAL!?!?!?!?!”
The others jumped as the headband girl squealed excitedly, her eyes now beaming with absolute joy.
Not the reaction anyone was expecting, BUT at least she did not freak out.
“Ah-” Taki muttered, before lowering his arms in defense. “Uh, yeah!”
Taki rubbed the back of his neck, chuckling as Sumiko continued to be excited about this new information.
“So wait!” She put her index finger up, squinting her eyes. “Are you saying that mythical creatures such as the kyubi and Bakekujira are real!?”
Before Taki could say a peep, Ellow piped up, a finger held up. “There is a species of kyubi in the yo-kai world! Known for its manipulative but charming  personality!”
Sumiko’s gaze became unfocused, an eyebrow tilted down as they darted in all directions in confusion. “Who said that???”
Momoka and Taki give each other glance at each other, the same statement inside both of their heads:
Huh. Not sure how Sumiko could hear her.
But, with a huff Taki slowly took off his goggles, inching it towards the stunned headband kid. “Here, use this - You’ll be able to see Ellow!”
Sumiko nose wrinkled with further uncertainty “Ellow?”
“Yeah,” Taki exclaimed. “She’s my yo-kai maid!”
“Ghost maid? - OH!” Sumiko then turned towards the ghost maid's direction and pointed her index finger. “You mean her, right?”
The ghost maid blinked her eyes as the two other kids gaped their mouths open, shocked by the minor action that occurred. Taki stammered for a brief moment, pointing back and forth between Sumiko and Ellow.
“You can SEE her?????” Taki blubbered, and Sumiko replied with a nod. “How???”
“Oh! She might be one of the few humans to have the ability to see other yo-kai, Master Taki,” Ellow spoke up, her tablet whipped out as she scanned through an informational Wikipedia page. “Either by being the descendant of a psychic or sorcerer, or having a deep connection to yo-kai!”
The boy became stunned at that information“Wait- people can have that ability??”
The ghost maid gave Taki a soft nod. “Yes, but it’s still a rare occurrence. It seems that perhaps we are just lucky to know someone that can see yo-kai!”
“Hey wait- you’re right!” Taki beamed as realization hit him, glancing at Sumiko. “Sumiko! Do you think you can help us search for the other remaining yo-kai?”
And for a moment, Sumiko let out an excited gasp before a thought hits them. “Hey, wait- Aren’t yo-kai dangerous?”
Taki hummed for a bit. “Probably- but the good news is, you CAN befriend them! My GramGram told me it’s a little complicated!”
And with that, Sumiko, once again, let out an excited squeal, her eyes beaming as their hands clasped together. “YOU CAN BEFRIEND YO-KAI TOO!?”
Taki gave her a smirk as he raised his left arm, flexing the yo-kai watch on his wrist. “Yeah, with the yo-kai watch Delta!”
“Created by the mysterious Professor. Kazumi, I might add!” Ellow added, watching as Sumiko stared at the watch in awe.
“Wow, that is so cool!” She awed, scanning the watch. “Are there any more watches like these?”
“Actually,” Taki started, lowering his hand. “Professor Kazumi said that there are two other watches, like mine. But, we don’t have time for that!”
Sumiko furrowed their eyebrows and slightly frowned at the boy, annoyed and confused.
“We need to find Haruto and stop him!” Taki carped, his nose wrinkling.
Momoka quavered. “But, Taki, we don’t know for *sure* that he and Hon Kage are the one’s doing this!”
He thought for a moment and let out a sigh. “You’re right, but, since those two are our prime suspects, we have to face them!”
Taki frowned for a moment. “And better yet, we can figure out exactly WHY he chased off that other yo-kai.”
The pig-tailed girl somberly stared at the ground for a brief moment. But, she soon shakes off those feelings, her face shifting into a more serious, determined look.
“I understand Taki.”
Taki gave her a nod, forming a half-smile at her.
He understands that it may be slightly difficult for her to (probably) fight Haruto after some unknown problems with him. But with all the evidence stacked against them, it needs to be done.
Taki let out a sigh. “Alright, I have to take Momoka home (because I promised my mom) BUT- tomorrow we need to meet up and search for those other yo-kai!”
The others gave Taki a determined nod.
“How about we meet up at my papá’s bakery?” Momoka spoke up. “We can, meet around 10:15 am.”
“Sounds good!” Taki replied. “Alright, let’s head off for the night and get some sleep! We got a big day ahead of us….”
As the group talked for a bit further and said their goodbyes for the time being, unbeknownst to them, the hooded figure was watching them from a distance, standing on the rooftop of the city hall building.
The whole time, they could hear them from afar, eavesdropping. Learning some interesting detail about the goggled kid having a yo-kai watch, and although having a yo-kai servant, seems to have a lack of actual yo-kai companions.
Heh. How pathetic. They briefly chuckled.
And then their eyes grew wide at an internal realization, and a mischievous grin formed.
Those stupid humans and idiot yo-kai are going to find those two, the ones who drove the other yo-kai away, to a fight….
Oh, this is going to be AWESOME.
---
The next morning, the alarm on Taki's nightstand rang, waking Taki up from his slumber. He made a mental note of the time as he shuts it off.
*9:30* it said.
'That should be enough time to eat breakfast, get dressed, and gather a few essentials.' He thought to himself, yawning and stretching his arms to get the sleep out. He papped his cheeks to get himself to wake up, and with gusto, hops out of bed.
He nearly bumped into his sister and her towel as he rushed down the stairs, whisper-yelling a 'sorry' as Junko let out a half-tired 'Hey!'. Junko gave the boy a drowsy scowl as he disappeared into the kitchen, before rolling her eyes as she entered the bathroom. She's too tired to care what Taki got in his head at the moment.
In the kitchen, Ellow was putting the finishing touches on Taki's breakfast; A bowl of Okayu, known for being a comforting dish that soothes the body and restores energy, with a side of egg and 2 pieces of bacon. Perfect for the day ahead of Master Taki and the others. She gave the boy a soft smile as he entered the room.
"Morning, Master Taki," She greeted, placing his breakfast before him as he sat down. "I checked on your other family members, Your parents and grandmother are still asleep so I'll write them a note!"
"Thank you! I'll let Junko know I'm leaving as soon as we head out." Taki muttered as he grabbed his spoon, and started to devour his breakfast.
The ghost maid nodded as she washed some of the dishes left in the sink, humming melodically as she did so. As Taki looked around, he started to notice that the house was a little cleaner, and the boxes had now been folded and packed neatly.
*Did...Ellow clean up the house while everyone was asleep* he wondered, swallowing his food. He let out a sigh to himself, proceeding to ponder a few things.
'Mom and Dad will think that either I or Junko cleaned the house while they were asleep, but really, it was the work of a yo-kai. Sometimes I wonder if I should explain the existence of yo-kai to my parents and Junko, but I also think about the cons if I ever go through with it: At best, my parents will play it off as me being a kid and my sister making fun of me for it. At worst, they might blame GramGram and send her to the hospital for no actual reason. Maybe.'
Taki gulped down the last of the food he could muster, letting out a relieved sigh. "Thank you for the food, Ellow!"
Ellow gave her master a nodding reply, putting the last dish on the rack for it to start its drying process.
She went and grabbed Taki's plate as he raced up the stairs to get ready. As he does so, Ellow pulls out a pen and a lined note card, proceeding to write a note for the other family members to see, of course, writing as if she's Taki himself;
*Dear Family members, By the time you wake up, you'll notice that I am already out and about hanging out and making more new friends. Do not worry about me too much, we'll make sure to steer clear of streets with no power and buildings that seem to be on the verge of crumbling and overall stay out of trouble. A son's promise. If you'd need me, you can call me on my phone
Amid the note being written, Taki placed his afro pick down in favor of donning his goggles, looking into the small mirror on his desk and giving himself an approving nod.
'Although, I probably won't answer a few times, as I am busy hanging out with friends. They're pretty great, and they think I am too. I'm hoping to make even more friends, cause I guess I'm just a natural. Love, Taki.'
Taki gently knocked on the bathroom door, the sound of running water still clear to his ears. "Junko, I'm heading out!"
"'Kay!" Junko replied, albeit slightly uninterested.
The boy beamed as he swiftly skipped down the stairs to put on his shoes. The ghost maid floated towards him, her expression soft and ready to go.
"The letter is all set and placed on the fridge." She reported.
"Thanks again, Ellow! Ah, I don't know what I'll do without you."
The ghost maid's cheeks flushed at the compliment, rubbing her arms sheepishly.
And with his shoelaces tied, he and Ellow head out the door, ready to run a couple of errands and then to Momoka's family bakery.   – About 30 minutes later, the duo made it to the meeting place on time, behind the bakery. Momoka was there, setting down a few drinks on the picnic table. Most likely refreshers. The pig-tailed girl gave the duo a greeting wave as Taki let out a grunt as he set down a peculiar grocery bag, earning a curiously confused eye from Momoka.
She queried, an eyebrow raised. "What's in the bag?"
"Well," Taki started, digging his hands into the bag. "Before hitting the sack, I and Ellow searched the yo-kai web for befriending yo-kai quickly, and as it turns out..."
Taki paused in his words, letting out a quick huff as he pulls out...food? Not 'food food' but more so..light meals, like packaged rice balls, ramen cups, a wrapped-up sandwich, and even some candy!
"And apparently, we can feed yo-kai, its favorite food to increase our chances of befriending it!" Taki finished, and Momoka let out a soft 'ah' and gave him a slow nod.
'Kinda sounds like bribing though..' Momoka thought to herself. But a couple of questions appeared in her mind, an eyebrow furrowed down. "Okay, but why get so much food?"
The ghost maid floated forward. "Well, you see Mistress Momoka, just as a yo-kai has a 'favorite food', they also have a 'disliked food', which will decrease our chances of befriending a yo-kai if we were to accidentally feed it to them."
"Oooooh, I see!" The pig-tailed girl mused, placing a finger on her chin. "So, like humans, Yo-kai have their taste in food! Interesting!"
The ghost maid nodded, as Taki stuffed the food back inside the bag. Finishing, the boy took a moment to look around, noticing that a certain someone was missing.
"Where's Sumiko?" He quizzed, and Momoka whipped out her phone. "We're gonna need to go on our yo-kai search soon..."
"I don't know," She replied, her thumb dragging down rows of messages between her and Sumiko. "They said that she's gonna be *slightly* late, but should get here before we head out.."
As if on cue, a loud 'hey!' can be heard behind them, and there was Sumiko, waving her arms and seems to be wearing a light aquamarine backpack. Curious. But before anyone could query what was in the backpack, they all jumped as the headbanded kid slammed the backpack on the table, followed by a heavy ‘thud!’.
“Sorry for being a little late, I did some research on how to deal with yo-kai and, if we fail to befriend any yo-kai that can help up, created some sort of a backup plan! Interestingly, I found out certain items were sold in shops here!”
And with that, Sumiko unzipped one of the main compartments, flipped it over, and poured the items onto the table.
‘Somewhat carelessly making a mess, but okay.’ Ellow sighed to herself, the other two curiously browsing amongst the items.
Among the assortment, there was: A plushie of some sort, suspicious-looking syrup containers, a few bottles of what appeared to be medicine, a book with the word ‘GUARD’ written in bold, and…a makeshift bat weapon.
“Sumiko, I’m not 100% sure we’d need to use a bat on a yo-kai…” Momoka stated flatly, staring at the weapon with half-lidded eyes.
“Well, I mean,” Sumiko sheepishly started, “We’re also sure that Ellow cannot fight (No offense, but she doesn’t look the type) so how are we supposed to combat the yo-kai to befriend it?”
Someone spoke up “Really simple really,”
Taki’s eyes grew wide at the familiar voice and swiftly turned around to confirm it. And there in both spirit and flesh, was Nekogi. “You need a yo-kai friend that can fight with you.”
“Nekogi!!” Taki let out a hearty laugh as he quickly hugged Nekogi. The Cat-Rabbit yo-kai was briefly uncomfortable for a moment, but let out a soft sigh as he slowly accepted it. “You came back!”
The cat-rabbit yo-kai sheepishly stared at the ground. “Yeah, I did. I was thinking about your words, and I admit, while still not even fully courageous and strong, I’ll still fight alongside you,” He glanced at the human boy, his eyes sparkling. “As a friend.”
The goggled boy smiled at that word. “Right back at ya!”
Nekogi gave him a soft nod, before extending a paw out. “You’ll need this, a sign of our friendship.”
Taki let out a gasp as he saw the object in his paw; A medal, which had a drawing of Nekogi on it, adorned with a red color around the border and a symbol at the bottom middle. His eyes sparkled as he took it, a sense of euphoria washing over him.
“Wow, my very first yo-kai medal…”
It was until he heard a ‘AHEM’ from Sumiko that he realized he was kinda leaving the other two humans out of the dark a bit.
“Oops. Ah, my bad!” Taki chuckled sheepishly, rubbing a hand behind his neck. “Momoka, Sumiko, this is Nekogi! Nekogi, Momoka, and Sumiko! Of course, Ellow is here too!”
The ghost maid curtseyed the cat-rabbit yo-kai as Momoka waved and Sumiko let out a ‘hey!’. Nekogi responds with a short nod.
‘So that’s the creature Taki was talking to, he’s so cute!’ The pig-tailed girl internally cooed.
“Alright,” Taki exclaimed, clapping his hands together. “Let’s get down to business..”  — “...And that kid with the goggles is blaming *you* entirely!” The hooded figure exclaimed, pretending to seem enraged.
They were talking to another kid with green hair and a half-shaven head, leaning against the concrete wall of the alleyway. A pocket watch attached to a necklace of chains dangled.
But all he did was let out a scoff. “So *what* if they think I’m the one going around and ruining things for everyone? They need to rent a few brains..”  The hooded figure piped up, secretly masking a faux-worried tone “Exactly what *I* intitanaly thought too, BUUUT! You and Hon Kage are the ones responsible for the other yo-kai fleeing! What if they plan to do whatever it takes to bring him down!”
The boy went silent as he proceeded to side-eye the yokai beside him. A creature of dark colors and red accents was dozing away, it’s head resting on big, broken chained claws.
“And who knows,” The figure continued, trying to hide a smirk. “They could go as far as killing it…”
He then sharply glared at the figure, clearly peeved at the being for saying that. “You’re a humongous prick…”
The figure simply shrugged. “I’m just trying to help you..”
Haruto fell silent, and let out a grunt. “Alright then, if those sacks want a fight, *they are getting a fight*...”
Haruto pushed himself off the wall to head deeper into the alley, letting out a whistle to signal Hon Kage to wake up. It’s six eyes opened, the color of red glowing slightly in the shadows as he followed his friend.
The hooded figure remained behind, letting out a cold chuckle. “Let the fun begin~...”

C'mon Yo-Kai Let's be friends! Chapter Four - Second Thoughts
Current Word Count: 2,365 words 13,481 characters
Me thinks trouble is slowly starting to brew… both outside the mindscape and INSIDE the mindscape
Dawn had turned to night as a couple of hours went by, and all the lights shined brightly, from stop lights to handle the drivers that have places to go at night to street lamps that guide pedestrians home for the night. Despite all the lights cutting out the star in the skies, the moon continues to light up in the sky.
A figure was one of those said pedestrians, a hoodie covering their face as they walked through the night, an earbud playing music in their left ear. Two girls were walking home after a day of after-school studying a couple of blocks before them, chatting away in exhaustion and giggling as carefree teenagers usually do. The stranger, although practically invisible to them, tsked and scowled.
They paused in their steps, noticing something as their head slightly turned.
A statue in the middle of the town square depicts an injured ancient warrior, an arrow pierced through bits of marble armor while being shielded by a dragon, tears carved on the dragon's marbled cheeks. The stranger raised an eyebrow at the peculiar statue.
"A dragon protecting a human…?" they paused, sharp teeth baring before letting out a soft scoff, a silver-colored flow of magic curling around their fingers. "What a silly concept for a statue, but nothing a little fixer-upper can't solve~…."
---
Taki was slumping on his bed face-down, his body limp as the peach bread remained on his dresser, untouched. In the meantime, Ellow was cleaning up his room, organizing his belongings alphabetically as she quietly sang an unfamiliar but catchy song.
f the clouds were to dance, then the wind would sing~~
The human turned, clutching the pillow with a solemn expression. "...Ellow?"
The ghost maid paused in her cheerful melody with a 'hm?' turning towards her master. "Yes, Master Taki..?"
He thought momentarily, gaping his mouth open once or twice before deciding to speak.
"Do you think I'm kinda unworthy to be making friends with yo-kai???"
The ghost maid's eyes grew wide, seemingly shocked by the boy's question.
"Master Taki, OF COURSE, you are! Otherwise, the watch would've hopped right off!" She placed her feather duster down in favor of sitting next to her master. "But why would you ask…?"
"..." The boy let out a sigh. "I… might've been too quick to try to befriend a yo-kai…and if that's how I am, will I creep other yo-kai out!?"
"If they ever come back.." Taki pressed his pillow on his face, legs curling as he let out a strained grumble. "I am not good at this detective stuff…."
"Now, now, Master Taki," Ellow conjured her feather duster out of existence, crossing an arm as she placed her remaining hand on her cheek. "For starters, I'm one of those yo-kai, and I'll be frank, you haven't creeped me out! Although you did slightly surprise me in the beginning-"
The ghost maid excitedly clenched her fists. "And you did find out who we're looking for A human named Haruto Saito and a yo-kai named Hon Kage!"
She paused, reeling in on what might be going on with Taki. "But - Perhaps you're tired from the events that conspired today. Maybe a cup of tea will help you re-fuel?"
Taki thought for a moment before softly nodding. "Yeah, that sounds good!"
Ellow smiled at him and nodded, turning towards the door to prep some tea, rambling that she might make some 'famous family cookies' as she phased through the door.
And then Taki was left to his own devices. Sitting up, he bit the inside of his cheek, reaching towards the laptop on his nightstand.
He writes a new digital diary entry, starting it up and wiggling his fingers.
'Hey, it's me again! So today has been somewhat eventful- well, for me, at least. The good news is…I found a couple of yo-kai today and became friends with one of them! She's a yo-kai butler named Ellow; she's chill! However, the other yo-kai, Nekogi, who I felt like I was *close* to befriending, kind of…ran away. He was so cool, though, and mysterious! But, the bad news is that we don't have a yo-kai to help us fight whoever is causing destruction around Azalea Heights, who we believe to be Haruto and Hon Kage- and we don't even know what they look like or even where they are!'
Taki sighed, hesitating a couple of times before he resumed writing.
'I'm having second thoughts about this whole 'befriending yo-kai and saving the town' thing, or even the idea that…I belong in Azalea Heights. Everything is just too…different. Well, besides my family, of course. Maybe, I'm not cut-'
"Taki!" His mom called out from his door. "Someone is here to see you! A girl around your age, I believe?"
"Huh?" Taki leaped from his bed, rushing downstairs to the front door, only to see Momoka standing outside. "Momoka?"
- The pigtailed girl was situated on a tatami chair, a spare Mrs. Oshimo happily lent, in Taki's room, her face scrunched as if she was troubled. Taki sat crisscrossed with arched eyebrows, gaze full of confused worry.
"Is something the matter, Momoka?" Taki asked, removing his legs from the crisscross position.
"No, no, not really. But," Momoka paused, staring down at the floor for a brief moment. "I was outside when I heard you talking to…someone?"
Ah. So Momoka heard him talking to Yo-kai. Hopefully, she won't see him as weird…
"But then, I heard you mention the name 'Haruto Saito'..." She looked down, a glum expression contrasting with her usually cheerful demeanor.
"...Yeah, I did say that name, but, What about it?"
Momoka fell silent, letting out a sigh. "Haruto…Haruto kind of went…missing? Or at least, ran away…"
Taki lightly gasps, his eyes wide in shock. "Haruto ran away? …Why?"
"..." Momoka's eyes glistened with somber. "They had it rough during our elementary school days, and trouble kept bothering him. And on the day we were supposed to start middle school that started last month. He ran off somewhere.."
Taki's face molded with sobering shock. "Does…Does his family know where he is?"
"Well," The girl started. "His parents have said that they come home sometimes, but then he's gone again the next day. No warnings or anything."
Taki tapped his chin in thought, letting out a slight hum.
Maybe…Hon Kage is influencing Haruto into doing bad things?? No, no, don't blame the yo-kai yet…well, GramGram did say that yo-kai can influence humans into doing bad things…maybe this was the case?
Counterpoint: Nekogi says that Haruto summons Hon Kage, and those who are inspirited might not SEE the yo-kai at all…
"By the way, Taki?"
The boy's eyes rapidly blinked as he broke out of his train of thought, snapping back into reality.
"Ye- yeah?" The boy stammered
Momoka tilted her head slightly. "Who exactly were you talking to? It didn't sound like you were talking to yourself.."
Ah. The moment has come, time to lose a friend probably.
Taki cleared his throat, slowly removing his goggles from his curly hair.
"So…how do I put this…" He tapped his fingers, a nervous sweat rolling down his cheek. "...I was talking to yo-kai..?"
Momoka blinked, her expression very telling that she was in disbelief. "Yo-kai..?"
Taki mumbled a soft 'yeah' as he handed over his goggles. "Here, put these on!"
The girl's face scratched in confusion, but slowly, she reached for the quirky accessory and put them over her eyes.
Taki pointed towards his door. "Now, look over there."
And so she did- she let out a frightful gasp as she flipped over her chair. A ghostly maid holding a tray of piping hot tea and cookies floated before her eyes, a sense of eeriness shrouding the paranormal being. The young girl let out a loud gulp, clenching a part of her shirt for comfort.
"Oh, Master Taki!" Ellow exclaimed. "I didn't know we had a guest!"
The human boy gave her a smile, his head turning towards the frightened teenage girl. “Momoka, this is Ellow.”
---
Nekogi was walking down the bare streets just west of Taki's house. The few humans that remained outdoors in the nick of night paid him no mind. He is a yo-kai, and of course, humans can't see the paranormal that walks among them.
He turned a corner and walked into the park. The breeze rustled against the branches and flowers as he entered, greeting him as he walked along. A mile later, his eyes met his destination;
A large tree, with a few azalea shrubbery surrounding it, practically hiding the tree. Nekogi walked off the trail and headed towards a said tree, sighing in relief as he slumped down into the grass, purring in contentment. He eyed a small hole not far from the tree, inching towards it.
He called into the hole. "Hey, I'm home!"
A few minutes later, a couple of baby rabbits and a mother crawled out of the hole, greeting the cat-rabbit yo-kai with nose boops. Nekogi chuckled as he watched his rabbit siblings wrestle each other before their mother let out a stern squeak, halting the mock battle. She then pushes them towards the hole, signaling them to 'go back to bed.'
Nekogi positioned himself on his feet as his mother approached, letting out a puzzled chirp.
"Oh, today was…different."
The mother rabbit tilted her head curiously. 'How different?'
"Well.." The Cat-rabbit yo-kai drawled. "For starters…I got chased by a human and his ghost maid. He had..a yo-kai watch." The mother rabbit's ears flinched, and she let out a purr. 'A yo-kai watch? Does that mean you made a human friend?'
His ears slumped down. "Well, no…He wanted me to fight alongside him against those guys. The ones whom the other yo-kai were trying to fight.."
'Well, why not join him?' the mother rabbit chattered.
Nekogi didn't say anything, repositioning himself in a fetal position as he leaned against the tree. "Because I'm scared, Mama…."
The mother rabbit let out a soft whine, hopping towards him. Laying a paw on his own, she stares at him with kindness in her beady eyes.
'My son, it's okay to be scared. Those two... seem like they're causing a lot of trouble and danger to others and our home. They are a confirmed danger, so that is a valid reason to be scared of something..'
Nekogi let out a soft 'hmph,' staring elsewhere.
'But, you can be scared and also be brave. Brave enough to fight alongside people who are willing to protect our home! Plus, having a friend has kind benefits.'
The yo-kai eyes grew wide at those words, and he fell silent as he stared at the barely visible stars, and his mother chirped a 'goodnight, son' as she hopped into the hole in the ground, leaving him be with his thoughts.
--- "So, let me get this straight," Momoka started, putting down her emptied cup. "So, For starters, yo-kai are supernatural creatures from our country's myths and legends, and we can't see them?" Taki nodded, mumbling as he chewed on a cookie.
"And yo-kai have been trying to fend off the culprit causing chaos around Azalea Heights, who are said to be Haruto and a yo-kai named Hon Kage?"
"Yes, that is correct," Ellow said, holding the teapot towards Momoka's cup in a wordless question. She gave the ghost maid a nodding reply. "The yo-kai Nekogi has confirmed it."
"But still," Momoka paused, sipping her freshly poured tea. "I don't think Haruto is going around town and causing massive damage.."
Taki gave her a slight nod. "That is a good point, but there is the matter that they are driving a ton of yo-kai away.."
The teenage girl let out a sudden sigh. "And you're sure, besides Nekogi, that no other yo-kai is around to help?"
"Well, actually," Ellow piped up, wielding some Ipad but with ears arched dog ears on the top. "According to this yo-kai sensor app I just found (and paid ¥5401.90 for), It says here that at least five other yo-kai remain, including Nekogi and Hon Kage!"
The two humans glanced at each other, promptly getting up to observe the screen;
It showed a digital map of Azalea Heights, the blinking dots presumably marking the yo-kai.
"Look!" Momoka exclaimed, pointing at one of the dots. "One of the yo-kai is around my tia's greenhouse!"
Taki beamed. "That's great! We can check there in the."
The boy halted as music went off, a pop jingle rumbling against a fabric.
"Sorry, that's me!" The pigtailed girl rushingly apologized, reaching into one of her pockets to pull out her phone.
"iSoy Momoka!" She greeted. "Sumiko! How are you-"
Momoka paused for a moment; a panicked shouting could emit from Sumiko's line, Taki and Ellow watched as Momoka's expression turned to shock and terror.
"...what do you mean someone destroyed the town hall statue!?"
Suddenly, the casual atmosphere dropped, and the other two stared at each with widened eyes, shocked at what Momoka just said.
"....Okay," Momoka breathed out. "I'll be right there! And I'm bringing a friend! Bye!"
The girl quickly hung up her phone, roughly placing it in her pocket as she rushed for the door, gesturing the others to come along. Taki gave a determined nod and grabbed his iconic orange jacket and his goggles, Ellow going on ahead with Momoka.
As they rushed down the stairs, Mrs. Oshimo gave the girl a curious look. "Heading home?"
"Uh," The girl paused. "Yes, and Taki is walking me there!"
"I'd hope so!" The woman huffed. "I heard it's been getting dangerous at night! Well, you two be safe now!"
Momoka gave a quick 'Yes, Mrs. Oshimo' as she saw Taki skipping down the steps, proceeding to stretch her legs for the running ahead.
"And Taki," Mrs. Oshimo said. "I want you back in *at least* 30 minutes!"
The goggled-wearing boy panted as he quickly put on his shoes, nodding swiftly, and tied his shoes. "Gotta go!"
And that's when Momoka and Taki quickly booked it out the door with Ellow in tow.
"Follow me," Momoka said through breaths. "I know where the town square is!"

This took me longer than expected to finish, but I did it! My first complete little comic that I didn't give up making half way through! I'm still playing around with the layout and title and I don't have a set story in mind, just either fun little side stories or character backstories like this one with Timber the Pupsicle. Idk what I'm really doing, so don't expect the stories to be in order or be taken too seriously at times. I just want to have fun with this^^
I'd also at some point would like to post these on Webtoons or something since I do want to make more comics in general, but I'll probably wait until I have a few of them done.
