Steven universe reunited review

I swear every time I lose all interest in the show and decide that I will stop watching after this episode, “this episode” blows me away.

Ruby and Sapphire kissed. Like full on, on screen, on the lips, with the butch in a wedding dress, so nobody can DENY THAT THIS LESBIANS ARE IN LOVE. No male voice actor, or added in mustache (wtf russia??) or “there are sisters” possible anymore. This is undeniable gay. And I LOVE IT. Sugar big kudos to you. Idk how you get this past the censors, but this is CN and not Disney so good for you. Also Peridot in a pretty dress throwing flowers at people and being all military about it cured my depression and water my crops

AND THE SECOND HALF. OMG. The art was finally on point again (also in the first part of the episode), the lighting was great, Lapis didn’t look like a neon sign and THE DIAMONDS. Holy sh** I’m even gayer now for Yellow...

The fight was amazing and I loved how everyone played a role. They did go all out to show that THIS ARE THE NEW CRYSTAL GEMS. I loved the parallels to “The Return”. Like there is a hand shaped ship and they’re on the beach and the enemy looks at them. But this time it’s not the remains of Rose’s destroyed army, but a team of people who love the earth and truly feel like they have a reason to fight for it. 

I loved that they addressed nearly every valid point the critical have made about the story and addressed almost every loose plot point (the promo at the end hinted, that corruption and with that probs Jasper too will be addressed in the next episodes). The cluster has itself under control und can form only partially (or formed just one big hand and a blob under the earth or what ever). I think this could come in handy for extracting it, or it being like an “protection mechanism” for earth. 

Yes, the diamonds will end up “reformed” but this was clear from the beginning. But I don’t think they are “woobyfied “. The show did a very good job at showing that the diamonds are people. Flawed, emotional people who have too much power. They hate earth because they mourn Pink. And I hope they handle the aftermath of this fight very carefully and show that they deserve a second chance, that Yellow and Blue can learn that Gems deserve to be free and humans or not just organic trash. Also their ships got wrecked and so they have no choice but to be nice so get gud. 

Only criticisms: 1.The scene with Steven’s out of body experience was kinda too fast resolved and I had hoped that his gem got at least cracked or something to activate that power (really minor nitpick but still).

2. The cliffhanger. OH COME ON. If we have to wait another 6 month or so for new episodes I WILL come personally to America and break into CN’s vault.

All in all one of my all time favorite episodes, if not THE favorite one 10/10. 9000/10 for gayness (as in Garnet being gay and making me thirsty for 3+ cartoon characters again)

PS: If the reason only Peridot and Lapis got poofed isn’t so they can get their stars or at least a really cool new redesign I take back all my praise and WILL stop watching this show forever (I’m kidding)
