Chaorene vs Feysand Pregnancy
A lot of people have pointed out that Feyre’s pregnancy trope is awful, but I haven’t seen anyone compare it to Yrene’s yet and I think it would help a lot of people understand the countless problems with it. First let’s discuss Yrene’s pregnancy: Yrene's baby was a regular human baby so it carried minimal risk to her life. Actually, she hid her pregnancy initially because she didn't want Chaol to worry, but clearly, the baby was entirely her choice. But even after Chaol found out, it didn't stop Yrene from healing a bunch of people on a daily basis, including removing Valg from human bodies. Chaol had an insane amount of faith in her, so much faith that even though he was worried as hell, he trusted Yrene to take on the DEMON KING Erawan which she did and won because she is a baddie. Even Lorcan points out that he's "not sure Yrene is human" because she's such a queen. Clearly, being pregnant didn't stop her from taking action. Now let's discuss Feyre's pregnancy: Feyre was complaining about being seen as a "trophy wife" by Tamlin (I just don't see this at all but go figure), yet after being constantly objectified by Rhysand, being sexually assaulted, and playing his whore, she finds herself a year later isolated from everybody, forced to walk around with a heavy shield and unable to go anywhere without heavy protection, forced to hide her pregnancy from everyone until it was "deemed safe," and she was unaware of the fact that her baby will most likely kill her. Rhysand threatened Nesta into not telling and when she did tell her (as was in her right), he nearly killed her. Not to mention Rhysand was acting like a possessive asshole, antagonizing everybody who got anywhere near her. But canonically, Feyre is very powerful. So why the hell doesn't he trust her? Why does he isolate her? Yet I see Chaol get an insane amount of hate from this fandom and Rhysand doesn't get nearly enough. Yrene's pregnancy is inspiring. Feyre's pregnancy is the upholding of toxic masculinity and underlies the major problems with pro-choice advocacy. It's amazing that both are written by the same author. But it shows that SJM is capable of writing a proper story if she actually tries.

Elucien's are attacked for thinking Elain will leave the NC for Spring / Day because she's is happy there. Because she's got purpose, friends, and her sisters. Because she declared she was part of the court.
But it's suddenly ok if she leaves to become High Lady of the Dusk Court?
Gwynriel isn't realistic because Trainer / Trainee relationships are inappropriate (aka forbidden in some situations though I guess they decided to forget about Feysand, Nessian, Rowaelin, how Chaol gave Yrene self defense lessons) .
Yet E/riel forbidden love is so romantic! 🤔
Gwynriels attacked for "romanticizing" Az's rescue of Gwyn from Sangravah in fanart.
Elriels regularly romanticizing Az's "dramatic" rescue (hiding in Feyre's shadow) of Elain during her kidnapping.
E/riels: "Elucien's bond is tainted because the Cauldron is tainted!"
Also Them: The Cauldron loves Elain!
They'll claim Lucien does the bare minimum for Elain because he's kept his distance since the novella.
While claiming Az loves Elain even though he admits to avoiding her.
They'll claim that because Lucien said he can't stand to be in the same room as Elain it's evidence he's not interested in her (despite him still staring at her with longing and disappointment a year later).
While claiming Az loves Elain.........because he can't stand being in the same room as her.
Hearing that Az didn't give Elain credit for killing the King because he knows she doesn't like the credit for violence.
While constantly using the hashtag Kingslayer
Gwynriels and Elucien's being bullied for commissioning non canon scenes.
While staring at all the art of Elain with a dagger tattoo, Az with a rose tattoo and them holding one another in a field of flowers while Az wears suspenders.

He glared. “I didn’t want to fight them. I wanted to beg him. And I couldn’t even get onto my knees to do it.” Her heart strained as he looked toward the garden window. Rage and sorrow and fear all crossed over his face. “You’ve made remarkable progress already.” “I want to be able to fight alongside my men again,” Chaol said quietly. “To die beside them.” Chaol panted through his gritted teeth. “I didn’t want you to parade me around. To let them handle me.” His chest heaved, the lungs beneath those muscles working like bellows. “Do you have any idea what it is like? To go from that”—he waved a hand toward her, her body, her legs, her spine—“to this?” Yrene had the sense of the ground sliding from beneath her. “I know it is hard —” “It is. But you made it harder today. You make me sit here mostly naked in this room, and yet I have never felt more bare than I did this morning.” He blinked, as if surprised he’d vocalized it—surprised he’d admitted to it. “I—I’m sorry.” It was all she could think to say. His throat bobbed. “Everything I thought, everything I had planned and wanted … It’s gone. All I have left is my king, and this ridiculous, slim scrap of hope that we survive this war and I can find a way to make something of it.” “Of what?” “Of everything that crumbled in my hands. Everything.” His voice broke on the word. Agony roared through his spine. Down his legs. His arms. Into his very fingertips. Worse than it had been in the glass castle. Worse than in those healing sessions. But all he could see, all he’d seen, was Yrene, that power spearing for her heart— Chaol hit the ground, and Yrene’s scream shattered through the pain. Get up get up get up “Such a pity all that hard work amounted to nothing,” Duva trilled, and pointed a finger at his spine. “Your poor, poor back.” That dark power slammed into his spine again. Something cracked. Again. Again. The feeling in his legs vanished first. “Stop,” Yrene sobbed, on her knees. “Stop!” “Run,” he breathed, forcing his palms flat onto the stones, forcing his arms to push, to lift him— But Chaol touched Yrene’s hand. “It is no burden, Yrene,” he said softly. “To be given this. It is no burden at all.” Yet agony filled her face. “But I—” “Using the chair is not a punishment. It is not a prison,” he said. “It never was. And I am as much of a man in that chair, or with that cane, as I am standing on my feet.” He brushed away the tear that slipped down her cheek. “I wanted to heal you,” she breathed. “You did,” he said, smiling. “Yrene, in every way that truly matters … You did.”
So I've decided to cause myself pain today 😭😭😭
