Do you have Yumi & Yasuda headcanons? I had the realization that they go to the same school. They're both underrated TokRev girls imo. I'd like to know how you think they'd interact with one another (and with the other TokRev girls too, i.e. Hina, Emma, Yuzuha, & Senju)
Well it's never mentioned they go to the same school but I agree with you. They wear a similar uniform and we know Yasuda attends the same school as Pah and Peh, and I think it's very likely that Yumi would want to attend their school too. But anyway these are the headcanons i have for them!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yumi
Yumi ships Peh and Yasuda and tried pretty hard to get the two of them together (inviting them on double dates with her and Pah etc).
She seems very kind, however under all that kindness she also has an incredibly chaotic side. Like that's the reason she wasn't phased by anything at her wedding because she's more chaotic then anything the others could've done.
She takes notes for Pah and Peh when they skip class
She loves sweets, has a total sweet tooth!
Yumi's also a very touch heavy person when speaking to people, she'll touch people's arms and hands a lot while talking (this nearly made Hakkai faint when they first met).
She slowly started to change from bully to friend because of influence from Pah and Peh.
Pah felt so guilty after stabbing Osanai that he wrote Yumi a letter telling her to never talk to him again and to just forget about him. Yumi of course refused to stick to that and said she still wanted to be with him (after telling him off for saying such a thing to her and assuming it's best for her just to forget about him).
Actually while Pah was locked up Yumi spent a lot more time with Peh. They kept each other company while Pah was gone. She also spent more time trying to get Yasuda and Peh closer together.
Yumi also gets along really well with Pochi
Her parent's weren't around a lot, they were very busy with work. Which is why her earlier behavior went unchecked and why she suddenly had to move (her parent's got a promotion).
She gets along with all the other girls but her favourite is Senju (besides Yasuda) because they match each other's energies often.
Has no problems with lying to avoid trouble (especially if it's for her friends).
Met Yasuda after wanting to hang out with Pah and Peh and they went to get Mitsuya. She was impressed with how Yasuda stood up to them when interrupting her club.
Yasuda
She wasn't sure what to make of Yumi at first. When she first noticed her, Yasuda was apologetic for shouting then got a bit nervous around her (she assumed Yumi was also a delinquent). But after Yumi dropped by more often, Yasuda realised she was actually nice and they became friends.
She's very good at baking, while in school she would make Mitsuya and Yumi treats often (Pah and Peh usually tried to steal some from her).
Yasuda was also close to Mana and Luna, she was often the one babysitting them when their mother was working and Mitsuya was attending toman meetings and fights.
Her and Peh confessed to each other mid bickering
When she first met Hakkai it was the awkwardest meeting ever. Yasuda was intimidated by how big and scary he looked and Hakkai was intimidated because she's a girl. They both remained silent, refusing to look at each other until Mitsuya intervened.
She has a history with delinquent's and used to get bullied by a group of them when she was younger.
At least once she heard there was a delinquent in the school who wanted to see Mitsuya and went to go yell at them (assuming it was Peh or one of his friends again). Instead she started yelling at some random guy who was actually there to beat Mitsuya up and he was so baffled he just left.
She hand sews all of Peh and her friend's birthday presents.
Actually gets along with Draken though, despite his appearance she found him to be a generally nice guy. (She teams up with him and Hakkai to throw Mitsuya's birthday parties).
She helped Yumi organise her wedding
Yasuda's favourite girl (besides Yumi) is Emma. Because she admires how Emma easily stands up to the delinquents and Emma also knows a bit about sewing.

Tumblr media
Yumi simply loves hugs even though she doesn't really like physical contact, every time she sees you, Yumi gives you a long hug and doesn't feel like letting go at all.
Her love language is acts of service and quality time, she is extremely helpful, always striving to help you in the best way possible.
You don't leave the house much, Yumi prefers to spend some time reading, listening to music or drawing, despite this she really likes outdoor activities, especially walks through flowery places.
She writes you letters that are always full of cute stickers, especially of kittens or bunnies.
Yumi likes to make gifts by hand, whenever she can she gives you something different.
She is very jealous, she doesn't like to see you talking to other people.
Sometimes she is very stressed, but when she is in a good mood Yumi is as kind as an angel.
Yumi likes to cook, especially making sweet recipes, she often presents you with cupcakes or pies in her favorite flavor.
She likes to play games (Okay, in my head she likes to play Stardew Valley) and always invites you to play with her.
Squeezing your cheeks is what she loves to do most, plus she loves doing your hair, Yumi is very cute when she wants to be.

Yasuda hcs
I love this spunky teen don’t judge the amount of hcs I have for her!
-She began sewing at the age of 7. She was a very introverted and awkward child who had problems making friends, so her mom taught her how to sew to keep herself busy. She joined the handicraft club as soon as she was old enough, and she quickly learned to channel all of her energy into it.
-She tends to hum or sing quietly while she sews or embroiders.
-Her specialty is making quilts, pillows, and stuffed animals! She likes cute things and that’s what she spends her time on.
-She has a pet bunny that she got when she was 8. His name is Sunday and he’s a bastard to everyone but her. When she has a bad day she’ll scoop him up and comb his coat while ranting about everything that happened that day. Sometimes she’ll fall asleep holding him and he’ll just cuddle into her stomach so she can still pet him and hold onto him.
-Her older sister actually bought her the bunny because she realized that Yasuda needed someone or something to confide in.
-Because of her harsh nature and social awkwardness she was the token weird kid and only had friends because of her sewing prowess. She tended to get a bit used due to this, but she hardly minded. She helped people with their sewing in exchange for kindness and company from them.
-Mitsuya was her first REAL friend. He didn’t mind that she was weird and awkward and loud when nervous, he just thought her passion was cool! She admired his skills and despite her initial reluctance surrounding his delinquency, she learned to adore him.
-Through her adoration she developed a huge crush on Mitsuya. He was the first boy her age who seemed to GENUINELY care about her! And she fell HARD for him, but she was never confident enough to confess to him.
-So obviously she hates delinquents. For a long time, Mitsuya was the only exception to this rule and she was very brash towards any other delinquents because she was scared of them! The thing that finally convinced her to stop that was befriending Yumi Mori, AKA Pah’s girlfriend. Because Mitsuya was her closest friend, he invited her along on normal outings, and when Yumi Mori reconnected with Pah, she came along too. The two girls quickly got shoved together, and they wound up getting along extremely well.
Yumi Mori is incredibly sweet and caring and was pretty much the best friend Yasuda could ask for. Yasuda was shocked and horrified when Yumi opened up about being a bit of a delinquent herself, telling tales of all the fights she’d won and how she’d fallen in love with Pah because of those fights. When Yasuda told her how terrible that was for her, Yumi opened up about how she struggled with aggression from a young age and how fighting helped her clear her head. She pointed out that it was the same for Pah and a lot of his friends; they struggled with bad home lives or anger issues or something like that, and delinquency was a safe outlet for them.
Yasuda was kind of stunned to realize it was that deep, and after a few days of thinking about it she realized that Yumi was right and she formally apologized to Mitsuya and all of his friends. She apologized to Yumi too, but Yumi just laughed it off and gave her a hug.
-Yumi goes on to be her best friend and just in general a sweet sweet person to her. Yumi is tough at heart but she’s softened over the years, which makes her the PERFECT combination of sweet enough to be Yasuda’s best friend, and tough enough to protect Yasuda from anything bad that happens.
-Yasuda eventually confides in Yumi about her crush on Mitsuya, and she becomes the #1 wingman, constantly dropping hints around Mitsuya bout how Yasuda really really likes him. She’s such a babe!
-Yasuda is SO EMBARASSED about her crush, but Yumi reassures her it’s not that scary. Yumi was bold enough to confess to Pah right away, and he’d confessed back to her! But he was taking things slow and wanted to wait a bit to really try out their relationship (he didn’t think he was good enough for her and he wanted to try and be better first, but Yumi still held his hand sometimes and got a little flirty with him! Unfortunately for her Pah is a bit of a fool)
-Yasuda chickens out repeatedly though, so Yumi schemes and with Pah’s help she convinces Mitsuya to ask Yasuda out. Unbeknownst to Yasuda, he finds her weirdness charming and he likes spending time with her :)
-She thought she’d die when he confessed to her. She was SO HAPPY but she was scared too! Like!! What now!!
-She asked for some time to think before dating him
-And Mitsuya was fine with that but he could still feel his stomach roll with anxiety the whole night.
-She called Yumi when she got home, and she yelled at her for meddling. Yumi listened patiently before asking, very innocently, “So what are you gonna do?”
-She kinda wants to kill Yumi but she desperately needs advice so she sucks it up
-Anyways they start dating (I will probably make a separate post just foor Mitsuya and Yasuda stuffs)
-Yasuda is treated as another older sibling by Luna and Mana pretty early on. Mitsuya makes an effort to invite her over at least a few times a week and she adores the girls. She styles their hair and listens to them attentively and she reads them stories,,,
-Mitsuya is so in love with her and she’s WHIPPED. Usually after the girls are in bed they’ll spend an hour or so wrapped around each other on the living room couch, just cuddling and kissing and talking. She snuggles underneath him because she’s comforted by his weight and she likes being able to hide her face in his neck
-SIGHS they’re in love I’ll make another post about them later this week
-Anyways final thought she made a set of matching stuffed animals for her and Yumi because they both adore cute things and they’re just,,, besties
This is the most self indulgent post I’ve ever made I sincerely hope it’s coherent. Yasuda is straight up one of my faves, she is my GIRLLLLL

Why does Mikey's mom literally look like Pah-chin's wife???
Wait let's play "spot the difference"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alright so I've heard someone briefly mention the theory about Takemichi being Mikey's dad but WHAT IF, and listen to me now, WHAT IF Pah-chin's bride is actually Mikey's mom? Huh? Did ya ever think 'bout that?🤨 What if SHE is the second time-leaper? Hmmmm? Let's take it a step further: What if Pah-chin is Mikey's DAD?
Tumblr media
It is worth thinking about.

My Favorite New Manga Reads of 2023
For the past few years on twitter, I've made threads of some of my favorite manga and light novel reads from the past year. This year, I decided I would move it over to two tumblr posts.
After the cut are some of my favorite titles that I picked up for the first time in 2023.
Talk to My Back, Yamada Murasaki
I like to pick up something a little more unusual at least once a year and so at the beginning of this year, I picked up this 1980s alt-manga title about the life of a Tokyo housewife played out in short vignettes. It's a frustrating read because of how real it feels and how much it feels like things haven't changed as much in the last 40 years as I'd like, but it's all the more fascinating for it. The essay at the end discussing Yamada Murasaki's work and placing it in context was a nice bonus too.
When a Cat Faces West, Yuki Urushibara
I love Yuki Urushibara's Mushishi (slow though I have been to actually finish it), so when Kodansha announced a license for Urushibara's much shorter series, I was there for it. It has a cool concept - there are areas of "flow" that will pop up out of nowhere and shift people and places out of time and space and one guy has tasked himself with helping people fix issues caused by it - but mostly it feels like Mushishi but set in the present day. I love a series that's just vibes all the way down.
Skip and Loafer, Misaki Takamatsu
I was absolutely smitten with the Skip and Loafer anime, so when it ended with what felt like a pretty definitive "we are not making a second season of this" final episode, I started the manga. A high school slice of life series lives by its characters and Mitsumi is the more adorable dork ever. The other characters are equally delightful, even when I don't necessarily like them, and I'm so eager to dive deeper into their lives.
Associate Professor Akira Takatsuki's Conjecture (light novel), Mikage Sawamura
This series feels a bit like what you'd get if you crossed The Case Files of Jeweler Richard and The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window: a college student with a supernatural ability to hear lies that alienates him from everyone meets a folklore professor with a mysterious past fascinated by mysteries, and together they investigate possibly-supernatural events. It's a bit silly, but the relationship between the leads is interesting and there's a lot of fun urban legends in the mix. There's also a manga adaptation that I haven't yet picked up, but maybe one day...
March Comes in Like a Lion, Chica Umino
I was curious about this one from the second Denpa announced the license just because of how much I'd heard about the series for years now, and it did not disappoint. I love a good story about a depressed and lonely teenage boy sublimating his feelings into an obsession with a uniquely Japanese pastime, especially when there's so many people around him wanting to help him stop being alone. Now I just wish that the release wasn't quite as slow as it has been, even if I know the many reasons why...though at least I still have the anime to rewatch while I wait.
Don't Call It Mystery, Yumi Tamura
After reading Basara and Wild Com, I was eager to get my hands on a newer series by Yumi Tamura, and the fact that it's a modern-day non-fantasy series made it all the more interesting. Totonou's incessant observations about the things going on around him are delightful, especially when they lead him straight into all kinds of dangers or even just leave everyone around him wishing he'd stop talking for about five seconds. I just want to pat him on the head and ask him to make me some curry.
After the Rain, Jun Mayuzuki
I got a card for the Japan Foundation's ebook library not too long ago, which has been great for picking up a lot of books that aren't available in my local library's collection, including this series. I had heard about it but was a bit hesitant because it's about a teenage girl who gets a crush on her much older boss...but hey, why not give it a try from the library? I'm glad I did because there was such a sweet relationship between them that ultimately helped them both out of the ruts they were in with their personal lives and dreams.
River's Edge, Kyoko Okazaki
I still can't decide if I actually enjoy Kyoko Okazaki's work or not, but I got a little closer to it with River's Edge. It's a harsh story about disaffected teenagers who find a dead body, but somehow it feels less depressing than the other works of hers I've read because they're teenagers and there's still the possibility that they can escape the lives that are dragging them down. I will say this - Okazaki's stories are never boring, whether I enjoy them or not.
Her, Tomoko Yamashita
I got a little overambitious this year and ordered the Italian release of a Tomoko Yamashita title I've been wanting to read for years. Can I read Italian? No. Did I think maybe I could figure it out kinda okay because I've studied French and Spanish? Yes. Did I end up reading everything through a translation app? Also yes. But this collection of interconnected stories about women and relationships was excellent despite the language barrier. I was thrilled to finally see the context for the kiss between a younger woman and an elderly woman that I so admired in Yamashita's 15th anniversary artbook, and its story was a touching exploration of what "normal" means. I would love to see this in English, but unfortunately I can't see it getting picked up.
Glitch, Shima Shinya
I was thrilled that Yen Press decided to pick up another title from Shima Shinya after Lost Lad London, and Glitch has been well worth my time. While it is a fantasy story about a town full of glitches in reality that I'm excited to see play out fully, what really caught my eye is the sheer amount of diversity in the characters - one of the leads is nonbinary, there are mixed race characters, there's a lesbian couple, etc. It's all part of the story but not in a didactic way, which I appreciate immensely. Shinya's art also makes me so happy, and I hope Yen continues to get more of their work.
Lilies and Voices Born Upon the Wind, Renmei
Speaking of diversity in characters, I enjoyed this series not only because it was a nice yuri with a motorcycle lesbian (always a bonus in my book, the motorcycle) but because it had some really thoughtful discussion of asexuality in multiple forms. I wish I could've gotten one of the printed copies that were available for purchase at one con, but alas.
Witch Hat Atelier Kitchen, Hiromi Sato & Kamome Shirahama
Did we really need a cooking series spinoff of Witch Hat Atelier? Probably not. Am I glad we got it in English anyway? Absolutely. This is basically an Olruggio/Qifrey slowburn domestic au fanfic and I adore it. And I love that they keep up the conceit about magical ingredients in each chapter's recipe, even though they are legit recipes you can actually make with the real ingredients recommended as substitutions. What Did You Eat Yesterday? but with witches, clearly an ideal combination.
Scribbles, Kaoru Mori
I am not actually a diehard fan of Kaoru Mori's work - I drifted away from A Bride's Story when I ran out of volumes at the library - but I do unabashedly adore her art. Scribbles is just perfect for me with its pages from her sketchbooks and her commentary about things like the ideal skirt tightness. I bought this in hardcover and all and will continue to get the other volumes in hardcover even though I almost always get Yen Press titles digitally because it's so much cheaper that way, that's how much I like it.
Innocent, Shin'ichi Sakamoto
I've had my eye on Shin'ichi Sakamoto's work for a while because I saw a bunch of panels from Innocent on here and fell in love with the art. What I did not expect was that the violently erotic story about a French executioner would actually get an English license. It's gorgeous and violent and weird and I am so here for it. Now, if I could just be sure that Dark Horse actually plans on releasing the whole thing...
Barbarities, Tsuta Suzuki
Much like with Innocent, I saw panels from Barbarities on here ages ago and wished I could read it without much hope, given the lack of other licenses for Tsuta Suzuki's bl since SuBLime's relicense of A Strange & Mystifying Story ages ago. But thankfully I am getting to read this nebulously historical drama with all of its social machinations and pretty men getting flustered by other flirtatious pretty men. And such nice clothes!
A Home Far Away, Teki Yatsuda
Kuma really gets some stellar licenses and A Home Far Away was especially good. Set in 1990s America, it reminded me of nothing so much as My Own Private Idaho crossed with Banana Fish and made me weep absolute buckets in the end. I don't think it's for everyone, but if you were ever an aficionado of depressing 90s queer cinema like I once was, this might be one for you.
À vos cotés [Tonari ni], Basso
I was shocked when the announcement for the French release of this title crossed my twitter timeline earlier this year - France has even less by Natsume Ono than the US does, but one of their publishers managed to get one of her actual bl titles published under her bl penname? So naturally, I had to get it. It's super sweet, about a young man who likes to take photos of horses at a racetrack who meets a much older man, and I swear reading it was just like reading her non-bl work only this time the two characters actually got to say their feelings out loud. This would be a perfect addition to several mainstream US publishers' bl lineup, and I would be the first in line to buy it if they did license it in English.
Dear, My God, Nemui Asada
More by Nemui Asada in English! I love Asada's work for its unique storylines and this one didn't disappoint, with a story about a priest having sex with a cult member to help save him and another story about a guy who ends up with a talking plant. It's a bit disappointing that it's only available on futekiya - when will we get some of these titles in print already?
Ikigami & Donor, Hiko Yamanaka
Hiko Yamanaka is another one whose work is always a bit outside the mold, and Ikigami & Donor is an interesting sci-fi bl about powerful "living gods" who have tremendous abilities but can't heal from injuries without blood, bodily fluids, or tissues from one specific donor. It's a fascinating concept and the way the relationship between one ikigami and his donor played out made for an interesting story. I hope to see more from Yamanaka one day.

Mori was a childhood friend of Yumi and they were in Douma's cult together. One day she saw Douma killing Yumi's mom and ran away but another demon found her. The demon beat her to a pulp and ripped off her arm in the process. Then Muzan found her when she was almost dead and turned her into a demon. He saw her as strong since she was still alive after the beating and the bloodloss and decided she would make a good addition to his demons. She became one of his favorites and his personal assistant in most things. She would go under cover with Muzan among the humans as his maid. Shes very calm and collected around Muzan, shes kind of like Kokushibo, but when shes fighting she goes a little feral and messy. But shes usually very clean
