Leona's VA Umehara Yuuichiro comment from the fanbook:
"I actually tried out for another character, but something didn't feel right, so I assumed I’d failed the audition. Then I was told that I had been chosen to be Leona, and my first thought was 'What? Really?' but I have come to realize that Leona is more approachable for me.
His constant languidness, his 'Uhg, I’m so tired' and 'You can do the rest,' his distancing himself from other people, his retreating away—that is all more suited to me."

Why You Should Watch Romantic Killer
This is the new anime series that premiered on Netflix a few days ago! Before you inevitably cancel your subscriptions, give this show a go! Trust me, it'll all be worth it! (I'm personally riding on my sibling's Netflix, so I got to watch it officially!)
Edit: I think it’s important to mention since it’s in the very nature of the show that nobody is actually forced to fall in love with Anzu or vice-versa. It’s all purely consensual in terms of that even though the wacky circumstances are not.
I even made gifs for this post just to convince you, reader of this post!
Tumblr media
Story
A high schooler named Anzu Hoshino is living the life. She has games, chocolate, and a cat named Momohiki. One day, her life is turned upside down by the devil-- I mean wizard, Riri. Riri confiscates her three most prized possessions with the ultimate ultimatum: Fall in love or live life without your most cherished commodities. Living in this awful world, Anzu swears to not fall in love out of pure spite for this arrangement and for Riri, but unfortunately, Riri has plans in store that might make things harder than they seem. (source: me)
For such a nonsensical story, it fricking works. I like it. As someone who's aroace, I feel this. I really do. I don't object romance, but I sure am not looking for it, and I would be pissed and spiteful too if my belongings were taken.
Tumblr media
Characters
Anzu is so much fun. She has got to be my favourite reverse harem protagonist of all time. Her reactions to everything are absolutely priceless, and I love how they incorporate random references. I never thought I'd see Kazuo Umezu face incorporated into a fricking romcom! Characters like her and Bakarina make the genre worth watching (even if Bakarina is too... baka at times). I want everyone to experience this anime without me giving too much away.
The side characters are good in their own right. Sure, Riri is annoying, but that's kind of the point. They canonically don't have a gender so the "they/them" pronouns were used in the subtitles I'm pretty sure. Tsukasa is pretty cold, and I felt indifferent about him until I found out his reasoning for being like that in the last few episodes, and let me just say, whatever you're expecting, it's probably not going to be that. I've never seen a show handle that type of situation for men quite like this RANDOM ROMCOM did. It puts its male characters into situations where they don't need to be strong, and they aren't criticized for it. That right there is positive masculinity. I like it. It diverts the idea of traditional macho masculinity, especially those of archetypes in dating sims. The characters and their dynamics actually seem pretty natural for such an unnatural situation and setting.
Tumblr media
Music
Yooo, that soundtrack fricking fits. I like it. Sure, it doesn't stand out, but with the absurdity of this series, I'd be lying if I didn't laugh when a certain string track came on. I don't even think that was the point (I think it's supposed to be when the audience swoons).
That ending theme fricking slaps harder than it needs to. I watched the opening once. Look, that opening skip button is so tempting. I only watched the ending once, but it was the background music for the voice actor interviews, so I got to know it better.
Voice acting
YOOOO, THIS IS THE PART I WANTED TO TALK ABOUT. Sure, they hired your local "ikemen" to play the "ikemen" characters, but can we talk about Rieri for a second? She makes this show good. Her and Mikako Komatsu apparently auditioned in a pair, and you can see, hear, and feel that chemistry. It is absolutely fantastic. Not many anime have had me laughing out loud, but I kid you not, I laughed a few times watching this. And yes, Umehara and Gakuto did sound good. I will give them credit where it's due. They did fulfill the ikemen part really well. Almost too well.
Tumblr media
Art
You know what? Even though the art was pretty mediocre, I'm going to give it a pass. It's hard to make a coloured manga. And it's hard to make an anime look good. Plus, they probably spent all of the budget on Anzu's face to the point where the guys look mediocre at best and can only be given "ikemen status" based on their voices alone.
Conclusion
I get why this anime might be a bit mixed in the aroace community, but I think we should enjoy media as it's handed to us. And what was handed to us is a genuinely good show that requires zero brain cells until the last half! Zero brain cells? That's me too!
Unlike most of the shows that I watch, I will rewatch this. Without a doubt. I'm rewatching it as we speak. Even for specific moments that made me laugh.

Favourite (+ Least Fav) Male Seiyuu
Please check out the original post here!
This post will cover 1-2 on the original post.
While the ranking is based off of purely my personal opinion, I thought I would state some factors that go into the ranking.
Voice acting ability: This is pretty standard. You know what to expect here. Performance is a key factor here. If they can act well and convince me of the character they're playing, then I consider it a good performance. Range is another lesser component. If I feel like they have incredible range in terms of their voice and emotion, that also comes into play.
Sentimentality: This is very subjective. This takes into account things such as access to good to roles and the impact of those roles which largely depend on how good the show is and how strong the writing is. Voice actors can try their best and give really good performance, but if the production, writing, art, or directing isn't good, it can all amount to close to nothing through no fault of the artists involved.
Musical ability: These days, voice actors are expected to sing with few exceptions (Akira Ishida is an exception, for example).
Voice: Yeah, if I like their voice, it boosts them up the list because it's a voice acting list. It has nothing to do with their voice acting ability. Although, range can help this a lot.
Personality: Although it doesn't really have anything to do with any of the other categories, personality that is shown through shows, events, and radio do play a small part in this because seiyuu are ultimately entertainers. These days, they are expected to be the whole package.
For each choice, I will include a gif of a role that I liked (recent roles are prioritized) for the top ten.
Least Favourite Male Seiyuu
Eh, there are some voice actors I definitely don't like as much. Okay, obviously, I am going strictly on voice and artistry for this one. I'll save the other ones for another time. The first one that popped into my mind was Daiki Kobayashi. The second was Tatsuhisa Suzuki who did not land in this category because of his scandal. He's here because I don't find him in good in most things that aren't comedic. I can't take him seriously in serious scenes (like Bryce Papenbrook).
Favourite Male Seiyuu (TOP TEN)
HONOURABLE MENTIONS:
These ones are definitely nothing to sneeze at. I just ran out of spaces. Heck, I had to skip a few voice actors I liked here too. Actually, now that I think about it, the ordering changes really frequently so don't pay too much attention to that. Or anything. My opinions change.
Yuuichirou Umehara
This one is kinda funny. I haven't exactly seen a whole lot of range from him. However, I have enjoyed a lot of the things I've seen him in recently (Romantic Killer, Villainess Tames the Final Boss, Cautious Hero). He performs his type-cast as the ikemen particularly well, but I feel like they're only casting him as characters that are handsome because he fits that physically. I want to see him play someone absolute repulsive. I've heard him play a disgusting creep on his radio show with Koutarou Nishiyama, and it was funny (especially since it was unscripted). He is really good at singing, and I hope to see a solo career eventually. His honest personality is endearing in a way because it's just plain amusing watching someone who looks like he doesn't really want to be there having to exist there. It's relatable.
Natsuki Hanae
I honestly didn't like his voice at first. In some ways, I don't like his more annoying roles, but lately, the casting has done his wonders. I think it's pretty self-explanatory why he's here. I definitely like how he changed his image from old "Hanaecchi" (especially since he's a proud dad now).
Kensho Ono
He dropped quite a bit since my previous list. This is probably because he hasn't had any standout roles recently. Yuri is funny but kinda annoying. We see a lot of Kana fangirling about being married to him, but I want to see the other side. She called him a "natural ikemen". We need to hear from the "natural ikemen's" side.
Junichi Suwabe
His voice is well-suited for a lot of stuff, and he's really good at voice acting. He's definitely top-tier, and my favourite role would probably be Odasaku from BSD. However, his most recent role that struck a chord with me was from "Kotaro Lives Alone". That anime was harrowing for a lot of reasons, but you see some of the reasoning behind his character, it just makes you feel something. Go watch that show. I should've written a "Why You Should Watch Kotaro Lives Alone", but I was pretty lazy and a bit too stunned by the show's approach to such mature topics in such a simplistic/childish art style. Watching that after hearing him as Sukuna was a trip.
Akira Ishida
ZURA JANAI, KATSURA DA!!! Yeah, he's funny. I don't see much of him, and he's definitely not one for the public eye, but he is genuinely one of the greatest voice actors with some of the widest range I've ever seen.
Miyu Irino
I attribute the propaganda spread by datenshi-luci on Tumblr and others for keeping his placement relatively consistent. His music (from what I hear) is good, but I couldn't find it on Spotify last I looked. His acting has moved me to near tears twice with Anohana and Koe no Katachi. I haven't watched his recent roles. I don't keep up with Osomatsu-san, and he hasn't had a huge break in Mob Psycho 100 YET. I'm waiting. And won't bother with Platinum End. We all know that show is crap. Did you hear it got renewed? Bro??? Give me Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun season two.
10. Kenjiro Tsuda
Tumblr media
I know we all know him for Way of the Househusband, but I actually still like his role in ID: Invaded. And we obviously can't forget Nanami from Jujutsu Kaisen. He definitely has a "ikebo" which is basically the seiyuu slang for "handsome voice" which a lot of the actors on this list do, but he definitely nails it perfectly.
9. Yuuichi Nakamura
Tumblr media
I feel like his over-saturation in recent seasons has led to a bit of decline for my personal enjoyment of his roles (especially since over-saturation leads to more bad roles). This is obviously no fault of his as a voice actor or anything. I know it's ironic since having too few roles can also have the same effect. I still say that Fruits Basket 2001 got the casting better for Shigure and Hatori. Why? Because he's darn good. My favourite recent role is probably Gojo for obvious reasons which is that he's funny. I still need to finish the rest of Clannad (finished the first season) and some of his other good roles.
8. Tomokazu Sugita
Tumblr media
Honestly, he hasn't had that many huge and major roles since striking it on his own, and I think that's good if that's what he wants (especially since his YouTube career is growing little by little). But I don't have a ton of recent roles that I can point at and go, "Yeah, I like that." I think the last one was the Usahara from Uramichi. Besides that, he places here due to pure nostalgia and sentimentality alone, and I think that really shows. He was hilarious in a lot of Gintama (which is essential for the show), and he honestly made me feel feelings when I watched SKET Dance (which you should totally watch). Although known for primarily comedy, I think it's really easy to forget that he is just as capable acting in a serious setting.
7. Mamoru Miyano
Tumblr media
The man, the myth, the legend. This will probably move up quite a few spaces once we get his performance as Douma WHICH I PREDICTED, BY THE WAY. He can sing, dance, act, and he's got it all. Really an absolute unit. My favourite casting is when they get the description "Funny man that cries on the inside" and just get him to do the role. Dazai from Bungou Stray Dogs? Kotaro from Zombieland Saga? And maybe even Okabe from Steins;Gate (haven't watched it)? Absolute genius, but he can play anything.
6. Yuuma Uchida
Tumblr media
Fruits Basket is clearly still on my mind, and his song Speechless has got to be one of my favourite anime endings of all time. I find it funny how he's always type-casted as the tough and grumpy type when he's the most giggly fun guy off-screen. We're talking about Kyo from Fruits Basket, Ash from Banana Fish, Megumi from Jujutsu Kaisen, Uenoyama from Given, Chika from Kono Oto Tomare, etc. They always come with an optional "soft on the inside" subgroup. His sibling stories are funny, and he has the weirdest laugh. He was originally put on our radars by his familial connections, but he quickly shot his way up to becoming one of the best newer voice actors.
5. Yoshimasa Hosoya
Tumblr media
This is probably one of the biggest drops. I haven't seen him in much anime as of recent. This will probably shoot back up after I finish "Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting", but until then, I can't remember a recent role I really like. As such, he's on here because I like his voice and there's a lot of sentimentality to back it up. His track record is nothing to sneeze at, and even though he's usually a side character, that doesn't make him any less as an actor. Plus, he has a really good singing voice.
4. Hiroshi Kamiya
Tumblr media
His best recent roles were from Kakushigoto and Uramichi, and those roles surely don't disappoint, but he also a huge nostalgia factor as well from things like Noragami and Angel Beats. He seems like such a stoic guy, and even though I don't like his singing at all, his acting is enough to carry to him to this high on the list. Although, now that I think about it, I don't like any of the top 4's singing.
3. Yuki Kaji
Tumblr media
This guy is winning at life right now. I haven't even watched his recent good roles in Attack on Titan or Ousama Ranking. This rides on pretty much just how much I like his past roles. There are a lot to choose from. For one, the first anime I watched was Magi where he played his first in a line of MANY main characters. There are just so many to choose from.
2. Yoshitsugu Matsuoka
Tumblr media
Speaking of a ton of main characters, we got the harem king himself. The relatable ball of social anxiety who also happens to apparently have allergies like me too (although his seems to present more dermal rather than respiratory). Anyways, he's funny, prevalent (yet doesn't seem to wear out too much), and he's really good at what he does. I can't picture anybody else playing Inosuke from Demon Slayer or Betelguese from Re:Zero. He has a very impressive range, and he's good at what he does.
1. Kouki Uchiyama
Tumblr media
We don't talk about Takt Op around here. That anime was trash, and I'm sure glad I dodged that bullet. I think I would almost watch Platinum End over it. I really enjoyed his portrayal of Miyamura from Horimiya. Even though I still prefer the softness of Matsuoka's voice, I think he did really well in that role. Toge from Jujutsu Kaisen is another recent role where he's funny. But most of his key roles still reside in the nostalgia department. I don't regret watching Soul Eater subbed (for one, they didn't gender Crona). From what I've seen in Devilman, he legitimately goes ham. I didn't finish the show, but his acting with the rest of the production shook me up to the point where I couldn't even finish the show (mostly the visuals at that point but I digress).
Again, the ordering means very little, and there are so many voice actors that I didn't mention or couldn't mention due to both space and time in this mortal realm. Anyways. That means that this list will probably age just as bad as the last one even without the scandals.
Feel free to take part in this challenge yourself!
Edit: This new Tumblr editor is really screwing me over hahaha (it crashed at least five times while I was making this, but man... Tumblr, why?!)

黄砂に吹かれて [kousa ni fukarete | Blown With the Yellow Sand] by Umehara Yuuichirou, originally performed by Kudou Shizuka
黄砂, known in English by such names as Asian Dust, yellow sand, and yellow wind, are dust storms originating in China and blowing over much of East Asia. They occur year-round, but more often in the spring.
黄砂に吹かれて きこえる歌は The song that blows in with the yellow sand to reach my ears— 忘れたくて 忘れた I wanted to forget you, and I did; なくしたくて なくした つらい恋の歌 I wanted to be rid of you, and I was— A bitter song of love.
眠りを破って きこえる歌は The song that disrupts my sleep to reach my ears— わかってる つもりの I had meant to understand it; 紛らせてる つもりの ひとつだけの歌 It was meant to be a distraction— That single song.
もう蜃気楼なのかもしれない Ah, it may just be a mirage— 片思いかもしれない A one-sided love.
あなたに似てる人もいるのに Though there are other people who are like you, あなたより やさしい男も And men who are kinder than you; 砂の数より いるのにね Though they number more than all the grains of sand— 旅人 I am a traveler.
黄砂に吹かれて さまよう旅は The wandering journey that blows with the yellow sand— 地下を深く流れる 澄んだ水に似ている Like the crystalline water flowing deeply beneath the earth— 終わりのない旅 A never-ending journey.
微笑ずくで 終わらせた恋が That love that had been ended with nothing more than a smile 夢の中 悲鳴あげる Lets out its dying wail within my dreams.
あなたに似てる人もいるのに Though there are other people who are like you, あなたより やさしい男も And men who are kinder than you; 砂の数より いるのにね Though they number more than all the grains of sand— 旅人 I am a traveler.
「うそつき」「うそつき」「うそつき」「うそつき」こみあげる Liar, liar, liar, liar! —That word wells up, nauseous, within my heart.
(答えて)もらえばよかったのに Though I wish I could have heard your answer, きくのが恐かった名前 I know it was a name that I was afraid to hear: 私じゃない 名前だもの A name that wasn’t mine. 笑顔で終わった あの日から Ever since the day that it all ended with a smile— 旅人 I am a traveler.

I'm actually writing this post specifically for @deepwoodenheart because they followed my main and were not a porn blog. Thanks! They've recently expressed an interest in Yuichiro Umehara (a voice actor), and @msyuksanh is his number one fan who is the one who actually introduced me to this specific voice actor. Since I watch a ton of anime (an unhealthy amount), I will be running through some of the stuff I have watched (and some stuff I haven't). Some of these are just to make fun of these anime, but I don't fault any seiyuu for taking a bad role because you do what you need to to make that bread 🍞
His list of roles is big but not as big as some other voice actors, so I was able to go through which ones I had watched or heard of quite quickly. He has made some random appearances in other anime that I've watched where I went "Huh, definitely know this guy from somewhere" like Fire Force, Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun, and Kaguya-sama.
Note: I haven't watched Jojo Part 6 yet or that parody magic anime with the wombat. The anime will go in no specific order, but it generally goes from "good" to "mediocre" to "these anime can go suck cheese" with anything below the "keep reading" being literal trash-tier anime. There's also some missing stuff, especially in terms of idol anime because I haven't watched those and don't plan on it for now. From looking at the cast list, I think his major idol roles are in Magic Kyun, Tsukipro, Ensemble Stars, and Idolmaster SideM (regular Idolmaster is for female idols).
Akagami no Shirayuki-hime
I was talking to a friend of mine recently when we went Christmas shopping, and when he saw this manga he went, "I didn't like that one." I personally did like this one. His complaint was that too much time was given to the secondary love interest. Umehara plays a supporting (but recurring) character.
((This scene still makes me laugh to this day. Kaori Nazuka was really funny here.))
Tumblr media
Fruits Basket (remake)
Okay, Umehara admittedly barely shows up in this one, but people should watch Fruits Basket no matter who they are. It's good for the soul. That is all.
((It took me so long to find a fricking gif of this bir-- guy.))
Tumblr media
Romantic Killer
Anyone who reads this or anyone who has Netflix should go watch this.
((Kabe-down))
Tumblr media
Tenchi Souzou Design-bu
This anime is surprisingly not directly creationism, but it sure comes close! As a biology major, this anime was pretty neat, but some of it made me go, "What am I watching anyway?" I'm not an ecology specialist though, so maybe this makes more sense to others. His character is a supporting character, but he has some funny bits.
((He also gets to rap in this role, so that was kind of funny. My other favourite lines are "Wow, Mercury is dead!" and "WOO! SAIKOU NI COOL!!!"))
Tumblr media
SSSS.Dynazenon
This one was not nearly as good as Gridman which was already divisive in the mecha community (that I'm not a part of). I heard from others that it was enjoyable, but I personally thought it was a bit of a bore. Props to the casting director for getting Chika Anzai and her cousin Junya Enoki. There are some subbed radio segments that are funny too.
((Also, this is the first anime I watched where he was cast as an ugly adult. Ain't nobody falling for kinoko hair over here. He has also played a piece of sperm, but I digress.))
Tumblr media
Dame x Prince
This anime was built for cringe, and it succeeds at cringe. But because it embraces the cringe, it unironically becomes one of the better anime adaptations of an otome game which is like saying you're the tallest dwarf of the seven dwarfs. It also gave a long-running radio with Kaito Ishikawa and Soma Saito.
Tumblr media
Shingeki no Bahamut: Virgin Soul
I genuinely remember so little about this anime that I went to go watch clips to refresh my memory, and this anime wasn't even bad. It was mediocre, but for something based off a card game, they did really well. I actually watched this for Sumire Morohoshi and her bubbly character Nina. This is technically a sequel, so you'd need to watch the previous one to fully understand it. Oddly enough, I didn't know the first season was a romance until some characters kissed.
Tumblr media
Gakuen Babysitters
This one was essentially built to be a comfort watch. It works at what it wants to do, but I don't like kids. The ending theme is cute, but Nishiyama looked way more into it (Umehara was there to get paid).
Tumblr media
Shinchou Yuusha
I personally thought this anime was gonna be a Konosuba, and it kind of was, but it was far more palatable for me (I was not able to make it through Konosuba and will try again at a later date). Aki Toyosaki carries 99% of the comedy in this anime.
((That slime never did anything to youuuuuuu)
Tumblr media
Orenchi no Furo Jijou
Fun fact: I watched this before knowing what a shounen ai was! I saw the shounen part and went "Oh, so my demographic" watched it, came out, and went "What. Was. That?!" I don't remember a whole ton about it, but I don't remember it being horrendous. It's just some mermaid in a bathtub. I think this was his debut role, and he does play a main character.
Tumblr media
Juuni Taisen
This is probably in a similar boat as Tenkuu Shinpan (later in the list). It's just a bloodbath of an anime, but I will give it credit that it has fanservice for both sides (they sexualize men and women). Anyways, it has a stacked seiyuu cast for something that is so incredibly mediocre.
Tumblr media
Tada-kun wa Koi wo Shinai
He had to be replaced partway through due to his acute immune disease. However, I think he recorded it in post-production. Either way, it's a supporting character in an anime that I think wasn't worth the watch besides the banger of an opening. Masayoshi Ohishi has a knack for writing openings for romcoms (he likes romcoms himself).
((He's the glasses guy))
Tumblr media
Tenkuu Shinpan
I kinda want to watch this one just to turn off my brain and watch some Battle Royale-style gore.
((That character looks sick.))
Tumblr media
Darling in the Franxx
Apparently, you're supposed to watch the first 12 episodes then dip, but come on, when the mechas are built like that, I'm not touching that thing. Even though it has Haruka Tomatsu and one of her most famous characters, I'm not watching it.
((It took me over 100 gifs to find one with Gorou in them despite typing in "Gorou Darling in the Franxx", and he is part of the main cast.))
Tumblr media
Goblin Slayer
You know, for such an edgy first episode, this series is so mid at the genre it tries to take on after. Umehara said himself, "He doesn't really say much of importance." This anime has sexual violence (and it's explicit), and it's not even good.
Tumblr media
Plunderer
I haven't watched this one, but he does star alongside his bandmate Yoshiki Nakajima. Both of them have been in better anime that is certainly not this one. I even read a chapter or two of the manga when it first started airing and went, "They're really making that, huh?"
((He forgot one streak of hair when dyeing it haha))
Tumblr media
Kabuki-bu!
I couldn't make it through three episodes, but maybe I'll try again-- actually, no I won't.
Uchitama
Hmm... I haven't watched this one. It's not hard to see why, but basically, I have not reached that level of degeneracy, and if I do, someone should put me out of my misery.
Senjuushi
Fun fact: This anime is so bad that it has a rating similar to Boku no P-- I'm not finishing that title. I obviously didn't watch this one.
Makura no Danshi
I didn't watch this one, but I saw a video on it and was near tears from laughter and despair because there's no fricking way someone made an anime about this concept AND got Masayoshi Ohishi to write an OP for it. This is the stupidest thing I've seen in a while, and just being close to it made me even more embarrassed that I watch anime. I also listened to Masayoshi's version of the OP before I knew what it was connected to or how to understand some words in Japanese. After learning its association, I was legally obligated to take that song off my playlist.
