We have a new citizen in Mount Phoenix:
Xi-Wangmu, the Chinese Queen Mother of the West.            She is the director of Asclepius General.
FC NAME/GROUP:  Zhao Liying (Zanilia Zhao) GOD NAME:  Xiwangmu / Xi Wangmu / Queen Mother of the West PANTHEON:  Chinese OCCUPATION: Director, Asclepius General, Trauma and Healthcare Centre HEIGHT: 5'5" WEIGHT: As light as heaven and as heavy as earth DEFINING FEATURES:  Kind chestnut eyes that see within and beyond a person, always smells of peach blossoms, soft and motherly voice, flawless porcelain skin
PERSONALITY: Xi Wangmu responds to many names:  Doctor Xi, Director Xi, Your Majesty, Mother–though she wears many hats, she is often viewed as a stable and motherly figure even to those who are without parents, a friend to all ‘strays’ as one may say.  While she is not a goddess of beauty, she holds what can only be described as a mother’s beauty in both appearance and in presence.  Magpies can usually be found nearby and she frequently has a blossoming peach tree twig as a hair stick fastening her bun.  Her aura is one of safety and acceptance, often comforting those around her.  Her voice is gentle and soothing, though also holds a stern parental warning when upset, the epitome of “I’m not angry, I’m just disappointed”.  Her temperament is fairly steady, having taken out most of her rage during the squabbles of legends (which, in her opinion, were very much exaggerated to a point that it painted her in a very bad light, but alas).  Nevertheless, one may become haunted by the sound of her fan suddenly opening or slapping against a surface, the percussive echo sending shivers down a spine to learn the Queen Mother was displeased and her anger growing.  When not at the hospital, she may be found enjoying a cup of tea, tending to her garden, or stargazing on a clear night.
HISTORY:  Though married to the Jade Emperor, such a union was only for political reasons as he was a mostly absent ruler and only intervened on issues of the utmost importance, more often prone to throwing fits or giving in to whims of fancy that caused more damage to the Mortal Realm than good.  It was when he imprisoned the four great dragons beneath the mountains for daring to bring water to a sparse and dying world that the Empress had had enough and insisted he just “have a nice little nap” while she took care of everything.  Since Ancient Times, it was the Queen Mother who governed from her Golden Palace in Kunlun.  For a long while, this appeared to work well enough.  True, there were the occasional wars and disasters, but resolution eventually came.
Yet as time marched on, the human population increased significantly, their pollution and wastefulness creating a dying world.  While she had once ruled with an iron fist, running a tight ship, occasionally throwing legendary fits when things did not go exactly her way, she recognized that it was time for a change.  Empress Xi knew the importance of balance; if one Realm fell, they would all fall.  It was time to invest in the future, to strengthen the balance between Realms, and that started with educating the youth, specifically generations born of more than one realm.  A sanctuary for demigods?  What a beautiful place to start.
Having so many gods and demigods in one place, there was bound to be a few disagreements and some children may not even understand their own powers, prompting some nasty injuries and illnesses down the line; having someone around who can heal most anything with her touch and diffuse most tense situations with her voice, would certainly come in handy.  As one of the most ancient and powerful deities of the Chinese Pantheon, Xi Wangmu held the power of creation and destruction, life and death, able to determine the lifespan of all living things.  The phoenix is synonymous with the empress Herself; one could hardly have a mountain dedicated to the legendary bird without including the Queen Mother of the West.
Though she had been an Empress, though she had ruled over her own pantheon from ancient times, it came as a surprise that she did not accept a seat on the Council.  Much to the chagrin of others in her Pantheon, she elected to continue as a civilian and took the position of hospital director, less interested in bureaucracy and more interested in attending to the front lines where she would be of the most use.  However, her opinion was still highly regarded and in the passing years, she graciously offered advice to the current members when requested.
POWERS:
Immortality – The Queen Mother of the West holds the secret to immortality and is able to grant eternal life to any living thing.  Consumption of her peaches bestow no less than three thousand undying years.  Her elixirs provide a shorter duration of immortality, however, depending on the dosage.
Mother’s Touch – A mother of all living things, her nurturing aura restores vitality to the dying, including enriching barren lands and rejuvenating wilted crops.  Since she excels as a goddess of healing, she is able to recover from any physical wound or illness and with her touch, she extends that power into the recipient, able to heal any recent injury or illness, even bring someone back from the brink of death.
Lullaby Tones – Her voice is able to calm most tense emotions and put others at ease.
Winged Words – She is fluent in the speech of birds and insects who often carry her messages to others throughout the world or carry out tasks for her.  She is frequently accompanied by magpies.
Flight of the Fans – One does not become Empress of all without learning to defend herself.  While her fan dancing may be captivating, it would be difficult to find one to match her fighting skill with these accessories.  With poison-tipped spokes, her tie shan fans fly from and return to her hands at her will, and only she knows the antidote.
STRENGTHS:
Zhenren.  Due to her Empress status and being top tier among the Chinese Pantheon, the Queen Mother is a master of balance and has complete control over her abilities.  She is one of the very few gods whose power transcends realms without weakening.
Natural leader and mediator.  Throughout most situations, no matter how chaotic or intense, she keeps a level head and is able to take command to see everyone safely through.  When she speaks, others listen.
Trusted empath.  If someone is feeling troubled or has an issue, Dr. Xi is an excellent listener who gives others the impression of truly being heard; however, she is not a gossip and all secrets are kept confidential.
Loyalty.  One of the strongest and most dedicated allies one could ever find.  She does not take promises lightly.
Incredibly generous.  Not only in granting leave and bonuses to hospital staff, but her cooking is good for the soul.  Soups and desserts are her specialties.  She loves to serve these to guests and especially her children.  She occasionally brings desserts to work to share with various departments to show her appreciation for their efforts.
WEAKNESSES:
If someone’s lifespan dictates that it is their time to die, then she cannot and will not intervene.
Her children and the denizens of the Fairy Realm.  If they are upset or in peril, this completely consumes her thoughts and she is unable to concentrate on anything until the conflict is resolved.
Wukong.  That monster of a peach-stealing monkey thief gets under her skin like no one else.
Wounded, sick, and/or frightened children.  If nearby, she will drop everything to tend to them.
A really, REALLY good cup of jasmine tea or Longjing tea.  Couple this with exquisitely-prepared snow cakes or a pleasant pampering at the spa and she may just be agreeable to any request.

#WhoIsTheMurderer was a very interesting drama, it really kept you guessing throughout the series. I mostly only watched this because #zaniliazhao #zhaoyiling was in it and she definitely didn't disappoint. She didn't show much emotion throughout the drama which was a part of this character but in one scene where she was told something terrible and found out what she thought she knew was false she stood there and her face when she was trying to figure out what was going on as everything she thought she knew shattered in an instant showed the true power of her acting skills. That scene for me was extremely powerful. The two ML's, Xiao Yang and Dong Zi Jian were pretty good as well. The story was really well written and wasn't predictable. The supporting cast did a really good job of moving the side elements into place. I would say this is an excellent little crime drama especially if you're a fan of Zhao Yi Ling. And actually it was pretty short for a cdrama at only 16 episodes, definitely worth the watch!

"If i was able to see my younger self, i would tell her that there would come a day when she'd leap across the tranquil Ximo River and leave this wonderful land surrounded by mountains to be under the boundless night sky. She'd witness unsurmountable mountains collapsing and unimaginably vast oceans drying up, i would tell her to remember that her fate depended on her saber and that her saber must always point forward."
