I was reading on the Velcro-Teflon effect today and found it fascinating. It is about how we react to the negative and positive in our lives. . We always forget the good things that happened, and remember the not so good with so much more clarity. The negative sticks to us like Velcro. You'll remember all the bad experiences from many years ago, but the positive habits, the positive experiences, they slide right off, just like as if its on Teflon (the non stick stuff on pans) Its human nature. It's what has always happened and what will keep happening. . One of the ways to change this and to tap into your happy thoughts is to spend couple of minutes a day to contemplate about the things that have been good, to be mindful and to be actively grateful for everything that is going right for you. Nothing fancy, just small things like, I had a good breakfast this morning. 🥪 or I got to drink my coffee while it was still warm today ☕ (all food related but you get the idea.) . Tell me one thing that's been good today. Me, I managed to do 30 mins of yoga in the morning 💖 . If you want to know more about this Velcro-Teflon effect , there is a TED talk about it. It's been awhile. I've been experiencing some major health issues, but I'm better now and my Doctor has given me the clear to return to normal activities. In spirit of my regained freedom (and orders to reduce stress) , I've decided to just have fun, relax and Zen out by making what I know of as 2D thumbnails. That's what us dinosaurs used to call it back in the day. Seems to be known more commonly as doodles or Zendoodles these days. This was a common practice we used to limber up our hands and get the creative juices flowing at the beginning of B&W 2D Design classes in College. We'd then pick the ones we liked to be further developed into, or become part of, bigger projects.

I made these designs with a standard 2H pencil on Strathmore 400 Series Marker Paper using a black Concept marker for the bold lines and a thin line Sharpie for details.
