KRATHING & DUCHESS (GIRL NEXT ROOM: RICHY RICH)

these two are just my faves, not just bc I love offmild, but also bc their story is simple, fun & wholesome, while still having some depth about generational poverty & superficiality. the chemistry is top-tier & this two are forever my fave thai straight pairing :)

ZEN & YUI (FABULOUS 30)

another off ship, shhhh I'm not biased he just slays so much it's not my fault! zen & yui are quite similar to krathingduchess in the sense that they're generally a very funny couple, yet they actually tackle a lot of issues about self confidence, appearances, intimacy, etc. they're not perfect but they're ADORABLE & I love them sm!

SOMCHAI & LINN (ANGEL BESIDE ME)

angel beside me is my fave straight thai drama bc somchai & linn are SO beautiful & wholesome. but similarly to the other previous ships, this show deals with a lot of deep issues related to poverty, toxic family members, etc. it's truly such a beautiful underrated show & absolutely deserved to pop off when it was released!

MEW & NEO (3 WILL BE FREE)

despite being the most underrated relationship in the 3wbf throuple, mew & neo are extremely iconic! first of all, yes mild lapassalan & joss wayar are two of the hottest people I know, thanks for asking, they make my bi heart very happy 😌 but also I love the evolution they have from enemies to lovers, and being both sex workers means they understand each other very well! they're just very cute together & I love them :)

SILA & MEEN (HUA JAI SILA)

not only is hua jai sila my favorite lakorn, but it's mostly bc of the pairing. I don't usually love pairings where the man is tortured & cold while the woman is perpetually kind & loving, but here it really worked for me. the chemistry is straight up FIRE, and you truly come to believe these two are such a beautiful & powerful team together. absolute cuties, and the fact that the female lead was a tor fan before that lakorn??? ADORABLE!

TANNAM & TEE (HAPPY BIRTHDAY)

to talk about a tragic couple (which also contains mild bc she owns this list lmao), we have happy birthday. mild & push are not only INCREDIBLY good looking together on top of being ABSOLUTELY TOP TIER actors, but the whole writing of this show will take your heart & play squash with it lmao. the chemistry is truly out of this world, and I cherish this show so much. the side ship of tonmai & his best friend (pluem purim & jan ployshompoo) is also ADORABLE!!!

VEE & KATE (THE REVENGE)

with how much I always scream about my love for this show, I hope that everyone knows by now that the revenge is one of the best thai dramas EVER MADE. one reason why I enjoyed this show so much, is that it balances legit the most gruesome murder story with a very cute & wholesome love story, AND IT WORKS. with mook worranit & non chanon being multiple times in this list which makes them thai romances experts, they really deliver a beautiful chemistry & love story. watch after the ending credits of the last episode, though!

BADZ & SMILE (BOY FOR RENT)

there is a reason boy for rent is one of the only straight gmmtv shows to have amassed so many millions of views, and it's that, on top of the hot shirtless men, badz & smile are absolutely one of the cutest pairings ever! their love story is a bit complicated but mond & fon's effortless chemistry really makes every viewer get attached to them immediately!

ANNIE & CHEN (MAMA GOGO)

here we have a very unexpected ship but SUCH a goodie! annie & chen are a funny, opposites-attract kind of ship but their chemistry is fire & they were just absolutely adorable! a truly wholesome pairing that will always put a smile on my face :)

AOM-AM & MIKE (FULL HOUSE)

now bringing it back to an OG iconic thai couple, we have full house! while this show has a lot of flaws, its pairing ISN'T one of them! the chemistry is top-tier, the story very touching & you spend so long with these characters you truly get so attached to them. absolutely adorable pairing :)

YING-YING & KORN / PAT & NOINA (46 DAYS)

now we have three recurring actors on this list at once! 46 days is such a cute show, it's chaotic, a bit surface-level, yet SO much fun! the main pairing composed of baifern & non is chemistry-central and absolutely great, but of course the side pairing of offmild (again! can't believe they got 2 shows together, it was such a slay!) stole my heart :)

KIEW & CHOMPOO (TO ME, IT'S SIMPLY YOU)

here we have another lakorn, that is this time barely a romance & more about a tight-knit community working together for a common goal & being cute, but the ship truly is TOP-TIER! one of the least problematic & toxic, and probably the most wholesome pairing I've ever seen! they're just too pure for this world & I absolutely love them :) (also green (kiew) & pink (chompoo) is my fave color combo hehe <3)

KLUAY & PUP (LOVE AT FIRST HATE)

you want chemistry?? YOU GOT IT! this is a pretty classic enemies to lovers thai story, very reminiscent of lakorns, but made better by the incredible male lead (I fell in love with him during this show, man's HOT!) & the really great chemistry between the actors! truly one of the best thai dramas for it, and even though I wasn't a big fan of all the tropes, this is one of the best thai straight dramas in my eyes!

BANK & LIN (BAD GENIUS)

even though I already loved the non x aokbab ship in the movie, in terms of series, jaonaay & juné were so good together! they even made a song together afterwards hehe, so cute! bad genius is such a good movie & it's also an amazing series, and even though there's a lot going on the brewing romance between bank & lin is SO GOOD! truly a show I'd recommend no matter what anyway :)

MIELLE & KIM (SENIOR SECRET LOVE: BAKE ME LOVE)

on the theme of chemistry, here we have a show that isn't exceptional but is absolutely CARRIED by its pairing! loving both actors from this pairing, it's no surprise they put their whole USSY in the chemistry, like I genuinely love this show bc they're too fucking cute!!! would recommend for a short, wholesome & easy watch :)

PHAT & CHER (CATCH ME BABY)

with the same female lead as the previous ship, we have my favorite straight recent pairing! not only is catch me baby such a fun show that I tremendously enjoyed, but the romance aspect is so cute & the chemistry??? PALPABLE! really such a lovely pairing I swear!

TEE & EL (BANGKOK LOVE STORIES 2: PLEAD)

once again our king non chanon is back, and here we have a story that did kinda disappoint me towards the end but is mostly amazing with a very powerful couple! emotions are high in that series, & I'm also so glad we get to see a really beautiful sex scene between them where usually thai dramas are more conservative, mostly regarding women. the cinematography of this show is also absolutely beautiful!

KRAAM & MAY (THE STRANDED)

I'm gonna try not to cry even though this makes me think of beam papangkorn's death, but the stranded truly was such a special thai show that deserved so much better. this pairing is a bit cliche but made better by the beautiful acting & chemistry beam & pat presented, as well as the beyond perfect cinematography (I think about the firefly scene shown above approximately once a week!) in my opinion, this is one of the most important thai dramas that is a must watch, so I would absolutely recommend it!

MINT & BEBE (MINT TO BE)

mook strikes again, this woman is incapable of having bad chemistry with anyone LMAO. this show is also one of my favorite thai straight series bc it's short, cute & very entertaining. the chemistry between mook & krist is also REALLY good, and the show was quite revolutionary in terms of pda for a gmmtv series at the time. I definitely recommend for a wholesome time :)

SKY & HOSHI (MY DEAR WARRIOR)

idk who thought of pairing up baifern & oab but they ATE! if you like scifi/supernatural shows, this will probably be right up your alley! I personally didn't really love this show even though I enjoyed a lot of aspects, but sky & hoshi truly were a great ship that I remember fondly! the chemistry was amazing & oab looks the hottest he's ever been in that role!

TOEI & TAR (HORMONES)

I couldn't talk about thai straight series without mentioning one of the most iconic ever, hormones! out of all the pairings, there is only one straight one I really loved, and it's toei & tar :) I'm always a sucker for the friends to lovers trope, but I thought this one was especially well done, especially considering toei & tar are some of the least unlikable characters from the show lol. they're very cute & wholesome and I thought I should include a high school love story in this list!

EMMA & PORSCHE (SENIOR SECRET LOVE: PUPPY HONEY)

despite being an offgun stan, I have to admit: I prefered porschemma to pickrome in puppy honey season one lol. despite being ruined in season two, emma & porsche are such a cute & wholesome ship, and them being reunited by dogs, which I'm obsessed with, only made their story cuter!

Currently reading: rereading Vicious by V.E. Schwab for a book club my friends and I take turns hosting (it's currently my turn to host so I chose Vicious). Reading for the first time: The Strain by Guillermo del Toro. Firestarter by Stephen King, which I've wanted to read for a while so with the new movie coming out decided to get right on this (though I'm gonna watch the og movie too before seeing the new one). Also my Thai and ASL textbooks.

Last series: Just finished All Of Us Are Dead yesterday. It was heartbreaking and incredible. And finished Fabulous 30 a short time ago too. I adore ZenYui so much!

hi! YESSSSSS, you asked the right person ;) there's not many lakorns (thai soap operas) they've been in, but I will simply include my favorite straight pairings they've been a part of (though in the case of off all of his characters are bi as we've established many times before 😌)

off in girl next room: richy rich

so not only is krathing my fave off character from a non bl show, but his pairing with mild in this???? absolutely scrumptious! the chemistry is more than here, they are hilarious together but also have deeper moments, and they're just without a doubt my favorite straight thai ship of all time <3

gun in the gifted

so the gifted is one of my favorite thai series of all time & gun is mostly known for his amazing performance in it, but his ship with jane is also very sweet as they're both pocket-sized and work surprisingly well together!

off in fabulous 30

so it feels like I'm just listing off's characters in order of how much I like them, but yes, on top of zen being THE most biconic off character after sean, khai & pick, his ship with gam whichayanee was absolutely LOVELY! I loved them together, the visuals were beautiful (bc I'm in love with both lol) and their story was actually the only thing that made the show interesting bc as much as I adore mond, sadly his main role & pairing weren't it. zenyui though??? SLAYED.

once again offmild is just the best off ship after offgun (and offtay if they were to actually happen lmaooo), and this proves it! they definitely take the backseat in this series as the secondary ship, but they were still amazing & looked incredible together! this is also off's most well ajusted role I've seen him in? so I'd definitely recommend!

gun in secret seven

gun was absolutely LOVELY as liftoil in secret seven, and his ship was silly, funny & just overall incredibly wholesome! secret seven is in general such a cute little romcom that I would recommend too! (the gif I had to choose doesn't represent the overall vibe of the show at all lmaoooo, but it was the only horizontal one I found :'))

off in wolf

so not only is por one of the cutest off's characters (with glasses!!!), but in this show he gets to act cute with literally every woman ever, punpun, jane, jan, a foreigner girl & many others... it's just iconic tbh!

bonus: gun in the currently airing three gentlebros show! has just started airing so I can't say much about it but his pairing with film sure promises to be fun :)

Speaking on Khun Sam's toxicity - I agree with your post. I'm curious if you've read the novel GAP Pink Theory? Chao Planoy is the author. This is what the series is based off of.

The series itself already differs from the novel in more ways than one. In the novel we got to see both Mon and Khun Sam's perspectives throughout each scenario they encounter: everyday work, dealing with Kirk, their friends, eventually having sex, taking vacations, etc...this helped their dynamic as a couple not seem as imbalanced as it is in the tv series. Don't get me wrong, Khun Sam was still toxic but damn, at least in the novel Khun Sam eventually recognized her wrong doings and tried to work on herself semi early on. I haven't really seen any of that progress from Khun Sam directly in the series thus far, rather we get her becoming increasingly toxic towards Mon as she tries to assert her feelings.

Something I noticed was that the series really showcases the power dynamic that Khun Sam holds over Mon sexually - more so than the novel did. I could feel the sexual tension/energy coming from Khun Sam the literal second she realizes she wants Mon in that way. That comes from her having experience which Mon clearly does not have in that area. Instead of exploring that from Mon's perspective slowly like we see in the novel you get these emotionally charged scenes where Khun Sam is being toxic/gaslighting Mon then immediately trying to get onto her. During some of these scenes where Khun Sam is being more assertive it seems like Mon becomes timid, rather than turned on, by her antics but goes along with it because, well...it's Khun Sam and nobody is going to refuse her. I'm used to seeing that dynamic in American TV shows between boss and subordinate, sex is nothing new here in the states but I went "damn Khun Sam really had Mon dropping that robe and hopping into that bath naked the day they declared themselves lovers. She went 0-100" Let's see how the rest of the series goes!

I'm still invested in the fandom as I have been from the beginning and will continue to support Freen, Becky, the cast and crew. Chao Planoy is currently writing "GAP Yuri 2" so we will most likely get a second season. Hopefully tv series Khun Sam gets it together soon - toxicity is never a good thing.

thanks for sharing, as I haven't read the novel. this dynamic of one character clearly wanting sex & pda (always the masculine-coded love interest) while the other is shy & complies to make them happy (always the feminine-coded main character) is SO fucking frequent in thai dramas, and I've called it out multiple times as it's one of my most detested tropes of all time. it can be seen in many bl shows, for example deanpharm in uwma come to mind, or in straight shows like zenyui in fabulous 30, or badzsmile in boy for rent. in any case it's such a toxic trope to have as sex should be enthousiastically consented by both partners who want it at the same time, and not be shown as something done to please their partner. it's definitely rooted in sexism in which women's desires & pleasures are rarely acknowledged by media as we are still largely seen as objects rather than our own people. I hope there is an evolution for sam's character from now on, that would be very appreciated.

if you're looking for a cute romcom that's almost enemies to lovers but also they're kinda friends, this is IT! this is a short 5-episodes series that I love rewatching bc while it actually deals with serious topics of poverty & feeling inadequate with new money instead of old one, it is really light-hearted & lovely as well! the female lead played by mild is really fun & cute, and krathing is truly SUCH a fun male lead, I love him SO much!!! definitely one of the best off roles for sure & this pairing just worked SO well! :)

yet another series with off & mond, aka my favorite men on earth <3 don't be fooled by the gif I chose, sadly I couldn't find my zenyui's gifs. so needless to say off & his ship CARRIED this show. love mond with all my heart but the main ship was boring as hell, whereas both zen & yui are such fun characters that surprisingly work really well together! off also has some great acting scenes as the crying gif shows it, and he really slays in both serious & funny moments! definitely one of his best roles out there! also sadly the series has been deleted off of youtube by gmmtv which is one of the worst thing they could've done to me, but it's still on dramacool!

if you're looking for a cute show with offgun where they don't play a ship (allegedly, their characters definitely are in love but anyways lol), this is IT! my favorite thing about it is by far that it's on offtay show as well, truly a gift <3 and maetee?? carried the show, by FAR the best character!!! so like most other off characters, mae-tee really leans on how adorable this man is, but he also has a very interesting story that deals with mommy issues & off's acting was definitely really solid in this. it's also the only role of his where he doesn't have a ship or romantic connection (allegedly, once again he's dating t-rex) so it's really interesting to see him stand on his own, you know? I just really like him!

off really is the king of being the secondary lead lmao, and honestly I don’t mind bc that role suits him so well! first of all here's yet another offmild ship with patnoina, which as you know I'm all for, they were SO cute!!! but what I really love with pat is how different he feels from the other off characters. pat still has funny moments & he's definitely VERY cute, but he also feels so much more mature & grounded in reality compared to other off characters. I really enjoyed him & this show as a whole is a very cute light-hearted romcom so I really recommend it :)

so wolf is for me one of the most ambitious gmmtv series that sadly completely flopped, even though it was definitely an enjoyable one! not only is this series really beautiful bc it shows us landmarks across all of asia, but off's character por was absolutely ADORABLE!!! (once again not shown in the gif chosen bc I didn't find the one I wanted to add lol.) in terms of mannerisms, por is probably the cutest off character after khai, he's truly such a cutie even though he's an asshole! and also his best friend is played by sing so it's just really cute :) and his love interest is punpun which plays tay's love interest in the three gentlebros & is yet another love interest offtay have shared after mild :')))

chuamong tong mon

so when I started watching an obscure lakorn on dailymotion for my man, I must admit that I didn't expect his role in that to be his only other confirmed mlm role outside of offgun that literally no one has ever talked about lmao. but... it was! and sun is pretty cute! let's be honest, the acting isn't the best, though I LOVED off's softness in the scene portrayed in the gif above, but honestly the lakorn as a whole is really fun & actually pretty deep. I really loved seeing off in a queer roles in a sideship like that, and I would definitely recommend watching it even though that role is very different from his others.

honorable mentions:

girl 2k: this show is really not the best but I genuinely loved off in it, I thought he was able to really bring out a part of himself we hadn't seen before, and he was INCREDIBLY hot in suits, truly a gift for the eyes <3

fai sin chua: the only way to watch the off cut is on twitter in terrible quality, and it's not his best role, but it's definitely a role that had a lot of potential! it's clear that off didn't have enough time to prepare for it, but it's still a very interesting role he got to play, and his ship with ploy was cute!

u-prince: the ambitious boss: second lead off is back in that role, except here he's extremely toxic lmao. this show is a pretty cute romance though & off was really hot when he got beaten up by the mafia <3

room alone: off's first role ever, and frankly I think he slayed, especially the last scene of season 1. I don't think this series is the best at all, but it is very interesting to watch to see how much off & all of the other gmmtv actors have grown & evolved. for me every gmmtv fan should watch this series tbh.
