percy's family on his mortal side were greek orthodox arab christians. percy himself grew up irreligious but that's besides the point

I like to think that even though sally lost touch with her family's culture/religion long ago she still wanted to honor it somehow, so percy's middle name is Alexios

it's a greek name that dates back to the byzantine empire meaning "defender"

his two names contrast each other in their meaning but encompass what percy is -- what he is born to be vs what he wants to be. perseus represents destruction while alexios represents protection.......he is a sword but he is also a shield!!

Are you okay if people ship Ford and Dr. Oleander romantically and/or platonically? I'm super interesting in their relationship and learning more about the two!

I especially wonder how much Dr. Oleander is like the plant she shares a last name with.

A plant known and loved for it's vitality, resilience, and beauty, but is also known and feared for the harm it can bring people with even a small amount of it's poison, which is a part of the entire plant.

Will she bring safety to Ford like an Oleander does for certain caterpillars, helping make them poisonous to predators that want to eat them? Or will she bring danger to Ford? Potentially harming or killing him or others because of her actions?

I apologize in advance if that's cringey!

I JUST THINK IT'S A CUTE THOUGHTZ ESPECIALLY IF THIS WAS SOMETHING FORD WOULD TELL HER IN AN ATTEMPT TO IMPRESS HER OR SOMETHING.

I don't really see them working as a couple with how I'm writing them, but I would be SUPER interested to see any art or writing about such a scenario! Ford and Oleander work a lot better as a platonic ship, I think, as that seems like it would be more of a deepening of their existing friendly dynamic. Also something I'd love to see!!

But yes, in either case, he WOULD try to impress her with those facts. It would be even funnier if there was no romantic interest involved, and he just wanted to show off how knowledgeable he is while complimenting her, as that whole comparison REALLY comes across as flirting
