I’ve seen those “End of Year” things floating around on twitter and wanted to play too, so here goes! It seems I had kind of a theme going on, lol. Honestly, I don’t know how I would have survived without The Untamed/MDZS, Wangxian, and all of the other lovely characters.

In many months I drew more than one fan art, so this is nothing but a selection of my personal favourites. In some cases there was more than one contender for the Spot of the Month™ , so I literally tossed a coin.

Huan muffled a laugh behind his sleeve as A-Zhan said “Mn,” eyes never once leaving Wei Ying. There was something a little like awe in his stare, like Wei Ying was the only one in the world to him at that moment, and if Huan hadn’t already known that his little brother cared deeply for Wei Ying then that look would have been all the confirmation he needed.

(If A-Zhan knew what marriage and romance was beyond the vague explanations he’d heard then he’d probably already be courting Wei Ying, with all the dogged determination he shows everything he puts his mind to. It’s adorable, and Huan supports it wholeheartedly, no matter what direction it heads in the end).

Or: an AU Wei Wuxian is taken in by the Lan clan instead of the Jiangs.

Wei Ying is not adopted by the Jiang. Strangers become family, some ties strengthen, others loosen, others change… and it all starts with a goose (because somehow geese always make stories better).

UPDATE: This story will cover the full novel time span (like 30 years or so) and have at least 4 arcs: childhood (which canon didn’t cover much), canon events part 1, the black hole of those 13/16 years (essentially original), canon events part 2. The events of canon will come to pass but play differently and there will be parts that are completely new. The main characters are and will remain the ones you hopefully expect to see.

“You want everyone to be happy, right A-Ying?” his mom would ask him when he didn’t want to let them go. Wei Ying thought that everyone being happy was nice, he liked being happy so other people must like it too. He would nod and his mom would give him a big beautiful smile. “You need to be brave and sleep little man and we will be back to wake you up in the morning”. His dad would tell him. “If you don’t sleep, you will be too tired to smile all day tomorrow and if you don’t smile how can we be happy?”. So Wei Ying would sleep.

Summary:  “Pffffff- ahahahAHAHA!” The kid curled up, resting one hand on his stomach while he used the other to smack at Lan Wangji’s shoulders. “That was close!” he giggled.

Lan Wangji was starting to think he’d been saved by a madman.

“… Thank you.” He bowed as best he could while seated and prepared to make his way down.

“Wait wait wait!” The kid grabbed at his sleeve before he could shift away. “If you go down like that, you’re just gonna get caught, y’know!”

Lan Wangji looked down at himself and back at the kid, raising an eyebrow.

The kid propped himself up on his elbows and gave him a blatant once-over, obviously holding back laughter. “You’re wearin’ all white, genius. Even if you scuff it up a bit and take off the girly ribbon–” Lan Wangji scowled reflexively– “no one around here wears stuff that nice.”

Lan Wangji had to admit he had a point.

Until one day, a good action made him discover an evil plot against the cultivator world and cross path with the Lan clan…

I’ve seen a lot of really interesting theories on how Nie Huaisang decided Mo Xuanyu was expendable/a sacrifice justified by the cause but I wonder if there isn’t a possibility that rather than Mo Xuanyu just being someone Huaisang was willing to let die in the process of taking down Jin Guangyao, he was more of a calculated target

Huaisang has seen Mo Xuanyu’s story play out before— a Jin bastard seeking to be something more, and being denied, and resolving to do whatever it takes to strike back and rise above his tormentors. He’s seen it, and it ends with his brother dead. He’s seen it, and any pity or empathy he had the first time is gone.

So maybe, as Huaisang makes his plan to bring back Wei Wuxian, he thinks of it as killing two birds with one stone. It’s almost a test— if Mo Xuanyu does not have the same ruthlessness as Jin Guangyao, he won’t offer his body to the Yiling Patriarch to take revenge. And if he does, Huaisang would have wanted him dead anyway.

i think it’s interesting to see how the fandom interacts with the “jiang cheng hunts and tortures demonic cultivators” gossip because, even if we’re just going with cql canon, the three demonic cultivators we see are 1. wen ruohan, 2. xue yang, 3. jin guangyao, and 4. wei wuxian (who was, to his credit, genuinely trying to do good). even ignoring the novel canon where demonic cultivation does harm the temperament and wei wuxian does lose control over it, that’s 75% of demonic cultivators in the untamed that are doing things like creating dangerous fierce corpses/murdering people for fun, doing curses, and causing qi deviations, and yet a majority of people seem to assume that “jiang cheng tortured demonic cultivators” means that jiang cheng was attacking tons of harmless, well-meaning people. i don’t like, support torture and murder, but i do think it’s interesting that the fandom seems to go for “most demonic cultivators are good people trying to do good things” instead of “most demonic cultivators are probably doing things of, at best, grey morality”
