If all goes according to plan, TL: LTD is looking to be the first first-party Nintendo game to explicitly feature homosexuality!
(unless there's a game I didn't know about, I know Vivian and Birdo are trans but that's about it)

Virtual Game Cards have just been released tonight. My brother and I are already finding it very convenient. The consoles only need to do an initial handshake before we are able to freely load and unload our virtual game cards remotely.
Here's some tips:
- If you have an annoying sibling who you know will try to steal your games behind your back, you can set a PIN by going to User Settings -> User-Verification settings.
- The legacy way of playing your games on a non-primary console as long as you're connected to the internet is still available, and doesn't interfere with the Virtual Game Card system at all. Again, User Settings -> Online License Settings. There doesn't seem to be any downsides to turning it on.
I hope other people will have as much fun with this as we will.

Some of your complaints are valid, but there are a lot that I just find odd.
- You don't own your games on Steam either. Steam even updated their website to make this clear the moment before you buy the game. Though I will admit it is a bit easier to play older versions of Steam games.
- You need a paid subscription for both Xbox and Playstation too. It's not a Nintendo-specific problem, so this point is more suitable for the generic PC vs. Console debate. Compared to Xbox and Playstation, Nintendo has the cheapest online plan, even with the expansion pack.
- You don't need *constant* internet access to use the NSO emulators. When you launch the title online once, it's freely available offline for a month before it needs to check your subscription status again. (This is from experience.)
- Nintendo is a more active game developer, so to criticize them for not putting their games on sale like Valve does is questionable to say the least. The Steam sales are most impactful with third-party games, which the eShop has its fair share of too.
Nintendo diehards are already posting Steam Deck/Switch 2 comparisons on Reddit, so i just wanna say:
Steam Deck
- is a handheld PC. uses Linux but can launch .exe files (including Windows games)
- a Steam account is free. cloud saves are included
- games go on sale often
- you can play your games on multiple devices, back up your files, and copy your save data wherever you want. you can even add mods
- Steam Deck has EmuDeck. also free
- extremely easy emulation for any platform, where emulated games can be launched directly from Steam
- the OLED model in particular is lightweight and easy to hold, but feels sturdier than the OLED Switch
compared to Nintendo
- you don't actually own your games. even most cartridge games require updates to run and save to the Switch's internal memory
- you need a paid subscription to use basic features like cloud saves
- you cannot back up your data in any way
- Nintendo games are often overpriced, never drop in price, and rarely go on sale
- you need constant internet access if you want to play retro games via Nintendo Online
- no emulation. any attempt at modding gets your console banned unless you take very specific precautions
- they are literally planning to charge you to do a tutorial and use a chat feature on the Switch 2
