There are in Japan great traditions of craftsmanship and a culture of craftsmen. However, they are struggling to find successors nowadays and some of the precious and important cultures are disappearing. In order to preserve Japanese heritage for the next generations, we feel it is our duty to create a new market and inform people all around the world of the real value of Japanese craft. Now is the time to take a practical action to introduce the“ GREAT WORK by TAKUMI, which makes us proud to be Japanese.

Easier to use, more familiar lacquerware.
third generation craftsman of Nakatashikki, which located in Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture, Daisuke Nakata said "I often hear the voice that lacquerware  is expensive, so I can't use it, but, that's too bad. So we want to make lacquerware that they can actually use."All works are made with feelings that ''easier to use, more familiar'', so you can feel warmth. Why do not you start living that there is such a lacquerware?

Lion Dance
Miki-cho, Kagawa prefecture, Japan where Onuma is located is famous as the “Village of Lion Dance”. You can see the influence of this in Onuma’s work as well. In Japan, Lion Dance is performed in new year(1st January) and mainly in autumn. When you are bitten by lion, it is believed that you would be healthy and happy for the year. This coloring and face always gives me the energy and cheerful feeling.

The unique unglazed texture of Bizen-yaki, made by a “kiln effect” and local clay. Bizen-yaki is stoneware that has evolved around the Bizen province in the Okayama prefecture, which has the longest history of six remaining kilns in Japan. Bizen-yaki is identifiable by its clay color and absence of glaze. Fired without glaze in high-temperature, the texture of the clay stands out on the product. The pattern of the surface is totally dependent on the component of the clay and the firing process. Although potters take into account these effects by the placement of pieces and by regulating the amount of falling residual ashes, fire sometimes causes unexpected changes and surprising results on the stoneware.
