As a Time Keeper Marlin doesn't have a sense of time. A century could go by and he wouldn't think much about it. At the beginning he would disappear months to years to attend his Time duties leaving Rosemary behind. Not saying a word. Took him much later to realize humans value time and to cherish the moments you have with your love ones. Now he apologize to Rosemary whenever to leaves for a long time and making her wait for him.
