The fourth chapter of the "Himitsu no AiPri" 4-Koma is now up!

We've started scanlating the single-page Himitsu no AiPri ("The Secret of AiPri") 4-Koma that is released every Monday to coincide with the currently airing anime! Each comic is based on and named after the episode that just aired that same week, summarizing the events down to four panels. We've already done the first three chapters, and we (tentatively) plan on continuing for as long as it goes!

Chapters will be primarily uploaded to MangaDex under our group name.

Manga scanning: a practical example

Lately I’ve been getting a lot of people asking questions about how to scan and subtitle. And it’s kinda hit me: there aren’t a lot of visible, accessible resources for this, are there? As time winds by, the masters of these arts have moved on and vanished from the internet. So for posterity, I want to talk about my own work process. (Remember to save a backup of this post somewhere if you like it…)

Maybe someone else has already written this up better than me, but it’s nice to infodump about the process regardless.

We are back after a few months of inactivity with another yuri one-shot!

The One The Prince Loves

Himeko loves Kitaoji-kun from the shoujo manga, "The Ice Princess," and dreams of one day being called "princess" by him. Tamako Ichinose, the popular "Prince" of the class, somewhat resembles Kitaoji-kun. One day, Himeko bumps into the Prince in a different classroom and finds out about her secret...

We can't promise when the next release will be, due to real life obligations, but what we can say is that, we'll be turning to a serialized story next time. It's going to be a shoujo title like this one, so look forward to that starting later this month!

After a few months of inactivity, we return to the scanlation scene with a recent one-shot from a fairly new managaka!

Young Ladies' Dating App.

Two young ladies meet through a dating app, but the truth is, they're not actually what they claim to be? Will their secrets leak out to each other and ruin the date?

Releases will continue to be sporadic and inconsistent due to real-life obligations, especially since the group leader just got a new full-time job. It also comes down to what new thing catches our interest. At the very least, we figured out our niche for scanlating titles, which is those that are Yuri or at least have female leads. We thank you all for your patience!

Thank you for your patience! The fifth one-shot of Atchi-Ai's anthology, "This Irreplaceable Hell": "I'm Her 'Girl'friend," has been uploaded!

Miyamura finally works up the courage to confess his love to the popular girl in class, Koshimizu, who promptly rejects him. But on second thought, she'll accept his offer if he...becomes her girlfriend?!

With this one-shot, all five stories of the anthology book have now been translated into English. We are proud to have worked on this book for the last few months, when we started up our group. We appreciate all the comments and compliments we have received on Mangadex, Reddit, Tumblr, etc. Thank you all so much for your support!

Regarding our plans for the future, we plan on taking a hiatus from scanlating for a while, as it has been tiring to do all this with the leader doing most of the work in translating, cleaning raws, and typesetting. We'd like to use that time to think about restructuring the group a little, possibly recruiting more people and the like, as well as consider what other titles to pick up next. We will continue to do anime OP/ED fansubs as we have been doing recently.

It's been more than halfway into the second season of Tokyo Mew Mew New, and it doesn't seem like any of the songs have been subbed for the simulcast yet, such as the OP, ED, and insert songs (of which there are quite a number of this time). Usually, translating songs for an official sub involve licensing deals, which is why they can take a while, if they ever get subbed at all.

So, in the meantime, we've decided to sub the songs of this second season. Here is the ending theme, color coded to indicate which character/seiyuu/idol is singing during certain parts.

We’ve translated the fourth story in Atchi Ai’s anthology, “This Irreplaceable Hell”: “Shut Up, NEET.”

Mao Segawa has finally gotten a job, no longer in danger of becoming a NEET, a person “not in education, employment, or training.” However, when her job gets in the way of her personal life, she wonders if the NEET life is really as bad as people say it is.

This story was a little tricky to translate and typeset, which is why it took about another month for the release. Thankfully, for the final one-shot, we don’t expect any real difficulties to occur.

On another note, we want to let everyone know that we made some slight updates to the releases for One-Shot #1 - “This Irreplaceable Hell” and #3 - “The Fourth Heroine” on Mangadex. We added a few more bonus pages to those releases, that the author drew as promotional material for the anthology when it released, and later uploaded to Twitter. This is our way of apologizing for the delays of this and the previous release. As always, thank you for your patience.

We’ve translated the third story in Atchi Ai’s anthology, “This Irreplaceable Hell”: “The Fourth Heroine.” Now you may have a sense of Déjà vu because, wasn’t this already translated before? Like, before we formed our scanlation group? Yes, that’s right. A few years ago, this story was translated by another scanlator and only that one-shot. We decided to do our own translation for the sake of consistency, since we plan on translating the rest of this anthology, and that we had access to better quality raws and an afterwords page. 

Within a weekly magazine is a popular rom-com manga where the female love interests are fully aware they’re in a story, using that knowledge to help them vie for the protagonist, but what happens when an unusual new female character shows up to turn the entire thing upside-down?

We apologize that it took about a month for this one-shot to be uploaded, and we understand if you’re disappointed that this is basically a retread of an already-translated one-shot. Personal stuff had gotten in the way for most of us, such as the group leader starting a new job. We’ll try to make sure the next upload won’t take as long.

The second story in Atchi Ai’s anthology, “This Irreplaceable Hell,” is now fully translated! “Dead You”: The ghost of a high school girl suddenly appears in Yuji’s house, but is she really what she says and seems to be?

With this chapter done, 3/5s of the book have now been translated. As mentioned in the previous post, the third story, “The Fourth Heroine,” was translated earlier a few years ago. It will take a bit of time for the next story, so we ask for your patience. Thanks for reading!

Marking our debut as a scanlation group, we’re picking up an anthology volume of one-shots by Atchi-Ai that was published in 2018! The first story of which the book gets its name from, is “This Irreplaceable Hell,” starring a high school girl who really wants to be a Magical Girl, but faces reality.

Originally, another scanlator translated a chapter from this book years ago, but it was just the third one, as they were uninterested in the rest. We will be planning on translating the rest of the stories from this book, so look forward to the next one hopefully in the near future!
