peter & caspian » another love.
a vague study in love, fealty, and what's left when you've run out of reasons to stay. caspeter at its best, imo, is about the quiet conjunction. it's about fighting the inevitable, trying to catch the uncatchable, and the slow realisation that your love belongs to the land and its people more than he will ever belong to you. if none of that makes sense: that's okay, just vibe. happy watching :)

for those of you who don’t know by now, the reason why people are boycotting Starbucks is because workers united made a post publicly “declaring solidarity with Palestine” on @sbworkersunited on Twitter. The corporation is suing the union because of that tweet. The boycotts are working, the employees are quitting, people aren’t showing up to Starbucks all over the world. Share prices are low, it’s working. Boycott Starbucks.
Also McDonald’s has been providing free meals to IDF soldiers in !sr3al so f*ck them too.

The main reason I wish the Narnia movies went on is so I could see Peter Pevensie growing into an adult. This kid was forced to grow up so fast; he had to fight for survival and lead an army when he was just a teenager. Seeing him actually come into his own and make a life for himself would be so rewarding. Watching this guy pick a major that he likes, discuss career options he might like with his dad, use the family car to visit friends on the weekends…it’s required for my mental health, okay?
None of this to say that these are the only things that constitute a “normal life.” There’s no shame in not doing secondary education and/or not having a career plan! I’m just thinking about Book!Peter being a nerd and studying for exams at Professor Kirke’s…I want to see him fall in love with some niche humanities progam, no matter how many people tell him could do more in other fields!! I want to see Peter study medieval theology and dabble in Latin and Ancient Greek…I want to see him ramble about his projects on walks with his friends…I want to see him get published in some obscure journal, to which Lucy responds by throwing a whole party.
Really, I just want to see Peter pursue his dreams

narnia age rant
on god this is the last time i’m ever going to talk about it but i just wanted to list it here; please let it be known that this is not an interpretation, everything i’ve listed here has been confirmed.
book ages (based on c.s. lewis’s official timeline):
peter was born in 1927, making him 13 / 14 / 15 through lww / pc / vodt.
susan was born in 1928; which means she was 12 / 13 / 14.
the book states that edmund is only a year older than lucy, but lewis has his birth dated at 1930 (perhaps he’s a december baby?), so we have 10 / 11 / 12.
lucy was born in 1932; 8 / 9 / 10.
caspian was born in 2290; during pc he is 13, and in vodt he is 16-17.
film ages:
lucy’s adventures in narnia, a lww film tie-in novella, mentions that lucy is 8 and edmund is three years older, meaning that she is 9 in pc (recall “it’s been a year” from peter) and 10 in vodt, assuming that only one more year has passed.
edmund is 11 / 12 / 13 across the three instalments.
susan is 15 / 16 / 17.
confirmed by ben, peter and caspian were both 17 in pc, meaning that peter was 16 in lww. this also means that caspian was 20 in vodt.
don’t be weird. stop shipping characters with disgusting age differences. if lucy were the “mental age” of a 24 year old in pc, she wouldn’t act like a child: all four pevensies are quite mentally mature, yes - but that’s because they grew up in the middle of a war. while it’s really interesting to talk about the implications of being thrust back into a different body after years of ruling (because you can have this trauma and these memories without suddenly being an adult), even william, for example, confirmed that peter is still ultimately a stubborn teenager in pc:
if that’s not compelling enough for you, try edmund’s “we are kids.” in no circumstances is it ever okay to pair a 20 year old with a 13 year old; even if edmund is older than this by vodt, caspian still met him when he was 17, and edmund was 12. let’s not start with lucy/caspian. writing transformative works or ageing them up in your own material doesn’t suddenly remove this source context.
not up for debate on this one because there’s really nothing to argue about considering this is canon material - i just wanted to make it clear that there are confirmed ages among the characters (across both popular iterations, at that!) and you cannot justify your pairing choices with this defence.
