Reading fanfiction on ao3 is like being addicted to drugs.
The first time you read one you experience this immense amount of euphoria and satisfaction (because of a well-done story or your ship having a solid dynamic etc.)
The high lasts for quite some time until you want way more of that special feeling so you read more and more until eventually nothing can satisfy you anymore.
But instead of trying to quit, we embrace the madness and let it take us wherever it wants.
And I think that's beautiful.
(read under the line for a word of caution)
It came to my attention that this may be trivializing the pain that actual drug addicts go through. That was not the purpose guys. Those are obviously not the same and I apologize if it seemed like that was my intention. It wasn't.
Well, I came up with another idea for au. Imagine, Edmund still lives in England. He does his daily routine and really does(not) miss Narnia. One day, his aunt or uncle tells him that police detained a man. А man with strange clothes. And something burns in Edmund. Caspian.
Edmund: angry/sad gay boy who's true love is tragically separated from him.
Lucy: Pansexual hippy.
Caspian: Bisexual king/pirate, but who's heart is pinning tragically for his love separated from him.
Everyone else, especially in Narnia is on some form of the lgbtq spectrum. Its my headcanon, Narnia was literally in a closet, so everyone will be very gay because I say so.
(Don't like don't read. Post hate and I'll block you)
There are 123 open ao3 tabs on my phone (yes, I counted) and it's such a mess, a chaos really. I cannot even bring myself to close them. Some are from a year or two ago and they are still there, on the off chance that I might read them. It's a pain, and I love it.
Y'know I find it incredibly ironic that in my Chronicles of Narnia fic series, an interesting inversion in fate (and character development) finds the most rebellious among the most devoted to restoring Aslan’s kingdom, while the most faithful fell the furthest. Edmund turns back at the tree and becomes a king of Narnia alongside Caspian, helping guide it into a new golden age and earning the title of the Once and Future King, while Lucy literally becomes an eldritch goddess and is implied to have straight up killed Aslan at some point. Edmund gets his redemption arc and then some, becoming one of the greatest kings in Narnian history, securing the legacy of Aslan, while Lucy, the most faithful, falls further than even Lucifer and ends up usurping God himself, not because she desires power, but because she sees the way that Aslan uses it as unjust.
And yet...both of them are doing this for the same reason. To be a champion of the downtrodden. To correct injustice. To secure themselves and their own kingdoms so that it can never be stolen from them again.

Lucy hummed thoughtfully, hands absently fidgeting with the fine embroidery of her dress. “Well, it can't all be politics. Maybe you still have something to learn.”
“From being married?” He questioned, scrunching his nose. She might be right—Lucy's instincts when it came to Aslan were unparalleled—but he hardly wanted to admit that.
“Maybe Aslan wants you to learn about yourself,” she said finally, eying him. “Or admit something you already know.”
Edmund frowned in confusion. What was that supposed to mean?

Alternatively: Lion Jesus said unto him, "get gay married," and so he did. Also they fall in love I guess.
