Skyrim - misadventures of a first-time player

To start off: I never got around to playing this game, because "girls don't play video games" was very much a thing in my family when I was growing up. To make up for this stupid rule, I am finally (in 2025) trying out more older games. Steam's "family group sharing" also influenced my decision, I do not own a copy myself. First impressions: Old-school jank is very much there. However, I can see my so many people enjoyed this game and why it still has such a cult following. It has plenty of charming moments. Fuck carry limits tho, my Khajiit grabby paws want all of the shinnies.

Onto the game:

I got my first companion. She seems fine, wish I could give her a better sword. Can you give companions better weapons?

Overall fun and some challenge until I hit 8-15 hour mark. I began to struggle quite a bit as I kept walking into areas that were way over my capabilities (getting easily spotted and one shotted by enemies). About 15 hours, I found out that the game was set to one of the highest difficulties... That explained my struggles a lot. After the game was set to "I have never played Elder Scrolls games before, please chill" setting, it became more enjoyable. I managed to buy my first house! I also managed to fully furnish it! Something that may never happen in real life with current prices. So, it was worth a mini celebration. I finally have where to place my hoarded books and trinkets. So far, I bugged out maybe one or two quests... I think. I am trying my best to play this game without external help as much as possible. My horse is an MVP, by the way. Not sure if horses are supposed to join you in fights... but he easily kicks spiders into the shadow realm. Getting burned by the crazy mages? He just neighs at them and front kicks them in their sorry faces. It gets a laugh out of me all the time. The horse can die from this (I tested) so while it is funny, I do run in to save him. Current stats and goals:

Finish visiting all of the cities (need to visit one more).

Get rich

Get a prettier horse?

Raise sneak skills to a ridiculous level

Avoid the lighthouse quest like it's the plague

Figure out how to shoot the damn bow

Unfortunately, he did not. He secretly did want to though, but can't have photo evidence of his and Drifter's shenanigans just out there, y'know. BY THE WAY - for those who are doing captura and may see this post: the technocyte coda dance emotes affect faces. Might be worth getting them for more dynamic shots.

Soulframe

I feel if you like Duviri in Warframe, this game may be really your jam. All I did so far was recreate my old male Tenno/Drifter, pick volt equivalent (volt was my starter in Warframe) and run around for a bit. Didn't expect the art style to look so good. There is early gameplay jank to stuff, but so far so good. Trying not to read the in-game chat just so I can stumble upon things on my own.
