Awww, I appreciate that! You can actually still read a ton of my writing - I have published so freaking much in the past two years!

As far as my POTO work - I no longer play in fandom sandboxes, but I am going to be publishing Extensions this summer. My cover is currently in the works, and I'll be posting the cover reveal and pre-sale information as soon as I get it back! This is going to be my only POTO piece published for 2023 (because my pub schedule is absolutely bananas) but I'm leaving the door open for 2024 to do another POTO piece. I wish I could talk about Gift of the Seasons and where that project has landed, but as of now, I cannot! (so be sure to follow one of my author channels so that you don't miss the news!)

And I literally can't sleep, because I loved it so much and want to read more (I have only 4 chapters). When I checked it out, I got extremely upset because I couldn't find it anywhere. I was *determined* to give him the name of an actual, historical familiar, and I didn’t name him Vinegar Tom, so YOU’RE WELCOME. Also, I left a TON of Holt on the cutting room floor, so there will likely be a sequel to this down the road!

The doll had a particularly creepy face.

“Miss Claudette is from the mid-eighteen hundreds,” the female auctioneer read, “once belonging to a privileged little girl of the era, she is a magnificent model of the expectations of a typical Victorian lady.”

You bit your lip in anticipation as hands reached into the frame, turning the doll on her pedestal to show off the detailing on the dress; the creepy, painted bisque face forgotten. 

You had no idea who he was—he never spoke, never stepped into the frame, never did anything other than manipulate the items at the behest of the sultry voiced woman in charge, but you’d be lying if you pretended he wasn’t the reason you kept tuning in week after week to their oddity auction, his lovely hands and the banter afterwards. 

Long and white and sculpted, veins and tendons standing out in relief, his hands were their own work of art, like a living sculpture. The endlessly long fingers were tipped in equally lengthy nails, painted matte black and ending in lethal-looking points, you supposed calling them claws would likely be more accurate.

You wondered, not for the first time, if he were a werewolf, or some similar creature.

You sighed as the podcast’s theme music played out the host’s deep baritone, rising in volume until the eerie instrumental was all that was left. The podcast investigated local landmarks, ferreting out legends and lore—murders and crimes and paranormal happenings—and you enjoyed hearing about the history of your favorite haunts around town…but that wasn’t your only reason for listening. 

The host’s voice was magnificent. Deep and dark with a touch of roughness, listening to him was like wrapping up in your coziest blanket on a cold winter’s eve, and you found yourself replaying older episodes as you went to bed each night, letting the rich voice settle around you in the darkness.

“Can you bring this batch down to the basement?”

One of the librarians appeared out of nowhere, glasses perched on the tip of her nose and a harried expression on her face, shaking you from your reverie. You beamed back exultantly, pushing down your internal grumble. The Starling Heights library had recently taken over a building which had once been a Miskatonic-esque lodge and before that a law office, one of the remaining crown jewels of the pitifully small historic district, and the move had been a lot. You knew the full-time staff was feeling the burnout blues, and were happy to do whatever you could to mitigate their stress during your part-time shifts.
