I've been a Swiftie since Taylor Swift's debut, but my journey with her music has been anything but linear. Taylor's songs were always on my playlist, but I'll admit, during those phases, I'd often skip her tracks because they didn't "fit my scene." As I grew older, my connection with music in general began to fade. I disconnected from everything, with my attention diverted solely towards boys—a decision I now realize was misguided.

For over a decade, I found myself in a dark place. I got married during this time, and while I genuinely love my husband and cherish our decision to be together, even our wedding day couldn't shake the shadows enveloping me. My job added to my misery, physically draining me and pushing me deeper into depression. My district manager's harsh words, accusing me of being dirty when I was merely depressed, only made things worse. I lost 60 pounds in just two months, which meant my scrubs no longer fit me and I couldn't afford new ones, and her advice to "come to work like I was going on a date with my husband" was both insensitive and demoralizing.

Eventually, my primary doctor put me on medical leave for stress and depression. I embarked on a daunting journey of therapy, medication, and consultations with various therapists and doctors. It was an incredibly frightening time in my life. Then, one day in December 2023, everything changed. I stumbled upon a live stream of Taylor Swift's "The Eras Tour" on TikTok, and my soul left my body. From that day forward, Taylor's music has been my lifeline.

Listening to her lyrics, reading her poetry, and immersing myself in her interviews and quotes have saved me daily. Songs like "exile" and "my tears ricochet" from folklore, or "champagne problems" and "tolerate it" from evermore, spoke to the depths of my soul. Taylor Swift's art has been a beacon of hope and strength. Before reconnecting with her music, I was lost, battling my pain in destructive ways. Now, I find solace in her songs. They transport me away from my darkness.

People often think I'm crazy or ask me to stop talking about Taylor Swift so much. My answer is always no. Without her, I might not be who I am today. Her song "I Can Do It With A Broken Heart" resonates deeply with me. Every day, I would wake up with a broken heart and go about my responsibilities—getting my baby ready for school, cleaning the house, doing college work, working full time, and attending baseball practices and games. "Lights, camera, bitch smile… even when you want to die" perfectly encapsulates how I felt.

Taylor Swift's music has been more than just songs to me; it's been a healing force, a constant companion through my darkest times. I'm a bigger fan now than ever before because her music didn't just entertain me—it saved me. Her ability to articulate the pain and the healing process through her lyrics has given me a voice when I couldn't find my own. Taylor's journey through different musical eras has mirrored my own personal growth, reminding me that it's okay to evolve and change.

Hey there, fellow Swifties! It's me, HI! I’m back with another installment of uncensored tales from the trenches of life. Today, I'm diving into the rollercoaster ride that is co-parenting drama. Strap in, it's gonna be a wild one!

Let's rewind to when my journey with my now-husband began. We reconnected after middle school, but parted ways in high school. He fell for another girl, and they even got pregnant, thinking they were forever. Spoiler: forever was shorter than they thought.

No, they didn't break up because of me. When we reunited, she was still pregnant with our future stepson. She ended their relationship, wanting to "live life and be with other people." She wasn't thrilled about our reunion and unleashed vitriol, branding me as a "slut," questioning my ability to care for children, and calling me a homewrecker. She even involved my parents and made inappropriate advances towards my husband.

Fast forward, her involvement in our stepson's life has been sporadic. We took on the responsibility of raising him, enrolling him in daycare and being there for him. She missed his kindergarten graduation and showed up to just one baseball game. Our stepson calls me "mom" and shows indifference towards her, a heartbreaking reality.

And here's the kicker: she now claims we have the best co-parenting relationship, painting a false picture of friendship and cooperation. Her own mother disapproves of how she treats our stepson. Despite it all, I remain committed to providing love and stability for our precious boy.

Uncensored Swifties Confessions: 002

OH HIII, Swifties! It's ME, back with another juicy confession from our new "Uncensored Swiftie Confessions" section. This week's submission really got me thinking, and I can't wait to dive into it with you all!

The confession reads:

"Ok so my hot take is that I absolutely HATE the ‘what songs are about Matty’ speculation (well really the speculation in general about what songs are about which exes). There are some that Taylor has made quite obvious/implicitly confirmed (e.g. ‘Style’ being about Harry Styles & ‘All Too Well’ being about Jake Gyllenhaal); however, most of her songs she hasn’t said anything about or has confirmed who they’re NOT about. For the most part, it’s really not up to us to try and decode who she’s writing about. She writes for herself, not for us, so while she uses her own experiences with certain people as inspiration, once she gives those songs to us we’re meant to relate those songs to our own experiences, not try and pry into her private life."

Let’s face it, Taylor Swift is a master storyteller. Her songs are like little windows into her soul, giving us glimpses of her life, her emotions, and her experiences. But once those songs are released, they become ours to interpret and relate to. Sure, it’s fun to speculate which song might be about which ex, especially when Taylor leaves tantalizing clues. Who hasn’t wondered about the real story behind MOST of her songs?

But there's a line that often gets crossed. It’s one thing to be curious and another to invade her privacy or, worse, the privacy of the people she may or may not be singing about. Some fans and media outlets take it way too far, turning innocent speculation into a full-blown investigation. They dive into every lyric, every interview, and every public appearance, trying to piece together the puzzle of Taylor’s personal life.

What’s more troubling is when this speculation turns into harassment. There have been instances where people identified as the subject of Taylor’s songs have been bombarded with messages, threats, or worse. This kind of behavior is unacceptable. No one deserves to be harassed because of a song, no matter how famous or infamous they might be.

Okay.. I’m guilty also…. I remember sitting down with my pen and paper when Taylor released TTPD, trying to decode every lyric and hidden message. It was fun and exciting, but it also made me realize that sometimes, we can get a little carried away. It’s essential to remember that Taylor writes her music based on her experiences, but once it’s out in the world, it’s meant for us to relate to our own lives, not to dissect hers.

But for the most part, Taylor has kept mum on the subjects of her songs, and for good reason. It allows us, as listeners, to find our own meaning in her music.
