i feel like taylor continuing to talk more and more about how much of a hard time she was going through during the red era and her thanking us for being there for her by loving the album the way we do just feels so…. so intimate. and so aimed towards those of us who have been here a long time. because if you truly are one of the people she is talking to, you know what it was like for US during the red era. I literally remember being told by people at school that she dates too much and only writes about breakups and calling her a slut to my face!! it was hard for US back THEN. i can’t imagine what it was like for HER, who has gone through all of these experiences who is trying to deal with being a child (kinda) star AND grow into adulthood trying to navigate the world between being kid being a grown up and having written down every single thing and turned it into art just to be endlessly ridiculed and mocked and slut shamed by the general public… it must have felt like the entire world was against her besides us. idk it just feels like she’s talking to those of us who were with her during that time and thanking us for being there for her at a time when she had her hands tied behind her back <3

That song was about a person that I knew, from the minute I saw him, that it would end in fiery, burning wreckage. There’s something about that magnetic draw that doesn’t really let up. You walk toward it anyway.

I like to do things that glorify being alone. I buy a candle that smells pretty, turn down the lights, and make a playlist of low-key songs. If you don’t act like you’ve been hit by the plague when you’re alone on Friday night, and just see it as a chance to have fun by yourself, it’s not a bad day.

If something has affected me deeply, I’m going to write about it. I don’t put much of a filter on. I’ve written songs that were just anger rants. I don’t usually play them for anyone, but it’s nice to write them and rhyme that person’s name with literally every horrible thing you can think of.

Well for me, the reason why songwriting is my one true love and the thing that I am constantly surprised by, is that I am always fascinated by how songs come to be, because they never hit me the same way twice. Sometimes I will get a fragment of a melody and I will have to piece where that is going to go in a song. Sometimes I will get a melody and a little bit of a lyric at the same time, which is my favorite part, cause that makes everything else easy. I like to start with this idea, which I could get at any time during the day--even in the middle of the night! I wake up and I always have my phone with that voice recorder app near me so that I can sing into it. My friends and family have grown accustomed to me stopping, my eyes glazing over in a conversation, and just running and grabbing my phone in the middle of them talking to me, because I suddenly got an idea for a song. It's a social quirk that my friends and family are used to. Because if you don't record a melody you will lose it, and then you will kick yourself 'cause you didn't record it in time!

I love hearing from you. I usually don’t see messages, but I finally turned on notifications, so that if you send me anything I should see it right away. It makes me so happy when I get messages telling me how this blog has been helpful to you.
I hand typed so many of these interview responses which is why I started slacking on posting new content. It got to the point where it was a lot. Trying to transcribe every interview response from taylorpictures.net (love them) became exhausting. Plus I graduated college, started working full time, moved several times, and the real world kind of took over (except I’m pretty active on my main).
Also, the way I started organizing the eras doesn’t make sense to me anymore, but going back and changing the tags would take a lot of time. I’d have to double check every linked source on each quote.
Just know that I appreciate you.

That's a really interesting question. For me, I have to believe that things happen or don't happen for a reason. That you have gut feelings about certain things for a reason.

I have gotten comfortable with myself and letting people know that I'm awkward sometimes and I'm not that cool or edgy. The more you just be yourself and lead by example, the more fans are cool with not [being] something they're not--because I'm not either.

For the last two years I've been more fascinated with discovering who I am and what I want. I don't think anyone ever gets to a place where they do not care what everyone thinks, but I've learnt to write off the opinions of people who don't matter to me.

I honestly think that my lack of female friendships in school is why [they] are so important now. Our friends really have each other's back. It's the first time in my life I've had anything really strong like that in the friendship department. You're supposed to surround yourself with people who challenge you and motivate you. That's what my friends do for me and I'm so happy to have so many good ones right now.

Basically, we see a fishing boat a half a mile away. Security gets out binoculars and sees that they have a huge long-lens camera. At which point, we got back to the beach and we realize, 'OK, so they got pictures of us in our bikinis, I don't want them to make $100,000 for stalking us.' We're like, 'Get up on the bow of the boat. We're taking better bikini shots, so they don't make as much money on theirs.

Anything outside my own house doesn't really feel normal. It's just a fact that when I'm outside the doors of my apartment, people are watching me and that's the life I chose. Sometimes it feels absolutely stifling and overwhelming, but most of the time I can go through the mental exercise of [asking myself], 'How many years did you dream about this?'
