Ashton’s Baby Shower- May 5th 2018. I have never in my life felt so overjoyed and overwhelmed (in the best way) with love and emotion. Sure ive celebrated 24 birthdays and holidays but nothing to this extent. I had so many amazing ladies celebrating me becoming a mommy and also celebrating the preparation of little Ashton. Seeing how many people love your child that they haven't even met yet is a feeling ive never experienced so far in my life. A room has never felt so warm and comforting before. I have so many ladies to thank that made this day possible, it truly takes a village. I could go on and on, but you all know who you are. Going through these gifts and seeing how absolutely spoiled little man is made me so giddy. I cannot believe how much stuff such a little human needs lol. The best part was getting to put everything away in his room knowing that so very soon he would be enjoying all the things that people got for him. Thank you so much to everyone that came and spoiled little Ashy K. He is already so loved and his mommy and daddy cant wait to meet him. We now have endless books to read to him, toys to play with, clothes to dress him in, oh and don’t forget endless diapers and wipes (who ever thought that would be so exciting?!) The little things matter so much. Ive never been more prepared for something that you can only prepare for so much.

YOU GUYS, I have SO been slacking on my blog posts lately. Between ULTIMATE nesting...and i mean not just organizing things here and there but crazy house projects and also getting ready for baby boy i haven’t had much free time. But things have officially slowed down for me and i am prepared as i can possibly be. So now we wait, literally. Today marks 4 days til Ashton’s due date and im SO excited. I cannot wait to hold my little man in my arms and snuggle him. I figured i would finally start off my crazy blog posts frenzy with these SUPER easy DIY shelves. I originally was going to purchase some shelves because lets be real, its just easier to buy something and hang it up than have to put effort in right?! Well....when i saw the $37.00 price tag at Target for ONE shelf there was no way i was spending that much on something that i know i could easily make. I set out to Home Depot and purchased one long piece of common board that was 10 by 8 by 1. i then had it cut into 3 foot segments. I then took those home, sanded them down making sure to round out the corners. Since these will be in a nursery i wanted to make sure that they were safe just in case anything ever happened! Boys are a litttttttle crazy ive heard lol. After sanding down your shelves you want to make sure all the sawdust is removed and that they are clean to the touch. The final prep step is the fun part. STAIN! You can choose whatever color you like during this step. Whatever color matches your style and your room. I chose a nice warm rich brown and ended up loving the end result. Next i attached these super cool and modern triangle shaped brackets from Ikea! They were so affordable! They are called the Ekby Lerberg and are $3.00 each! Total price for this entire project was LESS THAN $30.00 for all three shelves! You guys....ONE shelf at Target was more than that! Seriously i will NEVER buy shelves again in the stores. Making them is so easy and affordable. I love the way that these turned out and i have already made some for my dining room that i will share soon as well! If you make these shelves i would LOVE to see how you style them and where you put them in your home! Thank you so much for reading and i hope you try out this DIY before spending an arm and a leg on store bought shelves.

ASHTON KINGSLEY BEAGLE. Little man, mommy and daddy can’t WAIT to meet you. Jayko and I THANKFULLY only were 100% on a boys name. And this was that name. Ironic huh? Like it was meant to be or something ;) Now....for little mans name announcement and for his nursery i wanted to make a little sign with his name on it. I pulled out my Cricut machine and went to work.1. I started with taking a 12x12 piece of plywood and painting it with 2 coats of Rustoleum chalk paint in linen white. I had this laying around in my house already but remember you can totally use whatever color you want, or even stain the wood and leave it natural. 2. I then had 4 pieces of wood cut for the frame. I didn’t do anything fancy like angled cuts so i just had two pieces cut to the 12 inches and the other two the 12 inches plus the length of the overhang of the trim on both sides. 3. Next i stained the frame with Minwax (my favorite stain of all time) in the color Jacobean. Jacobean is a SUPER dark brown so be prepared for that. I already had this on hand as well so that’s why i went with that specific shade. I like to apply my stain with a piece of an old rag. Dipping one side into the stain and then the other keeping clean to wipe off the excess. 4. Then i pulled up my design space on cricut.com and used a font that i thought went with the style i had in mind for his nursery and wrote out his name in all lowercase (am i the only weirdo that hates uppercase letters?) I printed this out on my machine using matte black vinyl. I was originally going to use the vinyl as a stencil and paint inside but for this being my first ever sign i made i was just experimenting and wanted to keep it simple. I weeded out all of the excess backing so all that was left was his name. I then put that onto some transfer paper. 5. Next i took the vinyl “sticker” and added that to the white board by rubbing back and forth with a scraper (you can also use something like a credit card). Adding pressure and then pulling back the transfer tape making sure that the image stuck onto the wood. 6. I then decided that i wanted to add a little bit of distressing on the wood to give it a little bit of an aged look. I rubbed a low grit sand paper around the edges and random areas until the wood underneath peeked through. I continued doing this until i was satisfied with the look. 7. Then i took my fully dried frame and attached that to the sign. Starting with the 2 12 inches pieces on the top and bottom and then the two longer after that on the sides. I used wood glue and also nails to secure the frame. 8. YOU DID IT! This was so much easier than expected. I was looking online to buy one of these signs and they were going anywhere from $60.00 and up. I am so thrilled to now know how to do this and where to improve. This was such a fun project and great way to announce our little boys name. Many more DIY’s to come! I have missed doing them but #pregnant. I’m sure many of you will understand lol. Enjoy!

Baby Beagle Gender Reveal Party 1-27-18. This is the day that seems like we waited for forever. The day we found out if our first little bundle of joy was a girl or a boy! I’m not gunna lie i thought this WHOLE time that i was having a girl. From old wives tales, to plain going by feeling i thought that i was holding a little girl in my belly. I think what really made me think that was the fact that i am the oldest of 7. And 6 of those 7 are girls. So to me, it was natural to think that babies HAVE to be girls right?! Well BOY was a wrong. After those confetti poppers went off with blue confetti my heart filled with so much love and joy. I truly couldn't believe i was going to be the mommy of a boy. My brother is 16 years old and that’s the last time that i have really interacted with a little man. One of my close friends/coworkers had the hardest job to open THE envelope and give us the coordinating color of confetti. She knew for a few days and i don’t know how she did it! This is a journey that Jayko and I are SO ready for. Starting our family out with this little guy is something that we feel is the perfect addition. Now on to the actual party. We had about 60 of our close friends and family in attendance. Safe to say it was a PACKED house. Packed full of love, excitement, and eagerness. We provided an all inclusive chili and hot cocoa bar with all of the fix ins. Also a yummy dessert spread that got devoured very quickly. I made the little cupcake toppers, and the chili/hot coca bar/gender guess signs on my new Cricut machine which i am OBSESSED with. SO many fun projects you can do with it. If you are crafty and love making thing for WAY cheaper than buying them i highly recommend it! I left this party feeling so happy that we finally knew the gender of our little love. AND that i could FINALLY start on his nursery. Life is about to get so crazy. But we are so excited. Mommy and daddy can’t wait to meet you little man <3

BUMPDATE #3: FIFTEEN WEEKS: Momma ate an ENTIRE jar of pickles in a week (no shame or judging here). Feeling so amazing. Literally like night and day since first trimester. We have to celebrate those little victories. Mommy and Daddy felt and SAW you kick. Mommy even got it on video. Seriously died and balled my eyes out. Then called my momma of course. She cried too lol. Most incredible thing that i have ever felt. SIXTEEN WEEKS: IT’S CHRISTMAS EVE! Baby got a lot of love and presents from family. Daddy even got you your own stocking filled with the cutest gifts. Can you just get here already? Mom made sure to fill you up with yummy food. And LOTS of it. Cannot believe after the clock strikes 12:00 that it will officially be the year of baby BEAGLE! Dreams are becoming more real each and every day. Baby is the size of a pomegranate. Mom has been LOVING baths even more than she already does. Especially with candles lit and endless bubbles. 26 more days until we find out what you are. Party is set and getting planned. Mom and dad truly have zero preference as long as you are healthy. Mom is maybe feeling girl? But only because of the little wives tales! Dad truly can’t choose! WE ARE SO EXCITED!!!!

BUMPDATE#2: TWELVE WEEKS, LAST WEEK OF FIRST TRIMESTER! Morning sickness is finally subsiding. THANK GOODNESS. Dang its crazy how this little thing can make you so incredibly crummy feeling. But oh so worth it. Baby is the size of a plum. Tummy is getting bigger everyday i swear. THIRTEEN WEEKS, FINALLY got to hear our little loves heartbeat. Dr. York put the doppler on my tummy and instantly found baby’s heartbeat. I laid there on the table and my eyes filled with tears. It is the worlds greatest feeling knowing that everything is going well inside of you when you aren’t so sure from the outside. 159 strong beats per minute. Old wives tales say girl....true? We will see! See you later first trimester! Momma has been feeling SO much better. I am so thankful that the sickness is passed and i can enjoy this pregnancy. Feeling like a new woman.1/3 of the way there. Baby is the size of a little Georgia peach. I’m in love! FOURTEEN WEEKS, morning sickness has fully passed (for now). Mom has been eating TONS of cucumbers. The bump is OUT and ready to be shown off. People now are noticing that i’m pregnant and didn't just leave the local buffet lol. One week down of absolutely no sickness, drowsiness, headaches, etc. Really tired all the time but overall feeling so amazing! Little one is the size of a lemon.

Bump-date #1: Lets start with 10 weeks...it has been a ROUGH ride for me in all honesty. I’ve been sick all day everyday. Not just nauseous, but actual vomiting. To the point where i would be constantly crying all day because i couldn’t keep a single thing down. It got to the point where i had to call my doctor because i felt so helpless. It was to the point where it wasn’t only affecting me. I felt as if i was doing something wrong. Im supposed to be nourishing this child and i cant hold a single thing down. I almost felt as if i was failing. My doctor is AMAZING and reassured me that everything was totally normal and that this happens very frequently with women in their first trimester. She prescribed me a medication to take that was safe for baby and I. I was still very timid. I felt so weird taking medicine when i have a little baby in my tummy. I took it for three nights and then my sickness started to subside. So i stopped. I would get sick here and there from then on. Some days really bad and some days not bad at all. The medicine made me SUPER drowsy and tired. With my job where im meeting with clients and driving around all day, this medicine wasn't really an option for me to take during the day time. I tried it all, ginger everything, saltines, electrolyte drinks, soup, etc. Nothing really helped. My only little saving grace was these tiny candies that i would suck on that would help my nausea slowly go away. They were called Preggie Pops and were AMAZING! That’s been in a nutshell everything from when i found out at 4 weeks to 10 weeks. Now 11 weeks...this was finally when i thought that things were making the turn for the better but that didn't really happen. I started getting VERY dizzy whenever i would take a shower in the morning. To the point where i would have to sit down while taking showers. I would just pull the shower head down so that i could bathe while siting in the tub. Not only was this more difficult then just normally showering but it would end up taking way longer also. Other then the now normal morning (all day) sickness i had a pretty scary episode during this time. I was shopping in a store and started getting super super super hot and sweaty. I was wearing a raincoat because it was POURING outside and was pretty chilly. I took off my jacket as i noticed myself literally dripping sweat as i was waiting in line to check out. Finally it was my turn and i felt even more weird. My body was almost tingling, my vision kept going in and out and i was SO hot. I held onto the checkout counter trying to brace myself because of how weird i was feeling. I then squatted down, i thought that maybe i wasn’t bending my knees enough and that’s why i was feeling faint. Then the cashier who was being trained by another cashier told me my total. I stood up to pay and BOOM. Down i went. My vision was black, and i collapsed onto the ground. It was not only really painful but scary. I slammed my face so hard on the counter. I split my lip open bad. I opened my eyes and there was tons of people around me, blood all over my face, and the look of fear in everyone's eyes. I started balling because i didn’t really know what had happened. Thank god above the woman behind me was a nurse that just got off the job, she said she was watching me and that i was acting odd and swaying back and forth. She dropped all her things in hand and literally saved me and made me feel so comfortable. I am so thankful for her. My husband came and picked me up. He was so shocked on what happened. Because truly nothing like this has ever happened before. He drove me home and i relaxed for the rest of the day. I called my doctor the next day to inform her on what had happened and she checked my blood work from my first appointment and thankfully everything looked perfect. She said its unfortunately very common for women to pass out during pregnancy. To not worry and just make sure im eating the right things constantly all day. Never. Stop. Eating. Haha. Well that’s been my journey so far, its been a really tough ride but since the day i got to see my little love in that ultrasound for the first time it’s all been worth it. June truly cannot come soon enough.

ANNOUNCEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT! I am so overly thrilled to announce that my husband and i will soon be a party of THREE! baby beagle will make its way into the world june 10th, 2018. i have been getting a lot of questions from family, and friends about our journey so far. so i thought i would write a blog post on our pregnancy experience and leading up to it. honestly if this doesn't interest anyone thats okay too! this is mostly for me to be able to look back on in the future and remember all the little things! so my first FAQ is....was this “planned” and the answer is yes! jayko and i have always wanted to be parents. thats always been our goal. originally we planned on having kids immediately after our wedding but it turned out that we had a lot of plans and trips etc. that we were taking and we wanted to make sure that we could do the things we wanted to do together before we started a family. because as I'm sure everyone knows....life changes a LOT with kids. just a little background on me/my genes/family...i was previously on birth control consistently for the last 9 years....i was worried when i got off that it would take a while for us to get pregnant. my mom and grandma thought otherwise, because they are very fertile women. my mom has 6 children including me. my grandma has 4. all were fairly easy pregnancies with no struggle getting pregnant. turns out my last round of birth control ended up being the end of july. jayko and i talked heavily about if i should get more...or just stop...soooooo i stopped. it was hands down the most crazy feeling knowing that after july i could be able to get pregnant. now I'm going to get a litttlllle TMI here...i got off birth control and my body was WHACK. i ended up having 3 HORRIBLE periods in a VERY short amount of time. pretty much bleeding non stop with a day in between...i thought something was wrong with me. but my mom said it was normal. my body really didn't know what it was like being off birth control for the last 9 years. at that point i knew it would probably take a while for my body to get back to normal. at this point i had downloaded the “ovia” app. it was the best app that worked for me, but remember there are a TON out there. this app predicted when i was ovulating....and then we went off of that. i was skeptical if it was right so i ended up buying a couple ovulation tests and they said i was! so the app was surprisingly accurate! after a couple weeks of trying. i should have been getting ready to start my period. i started cramping SO bad. i knew it was coming. a little over a week passed and still no period...my app stated that i was “3 days late” this was a friday i believe....i was still a tiny bit crampy so i ignored it. then the next morning i still had no period....meaning i was 4 days late...i took a cheapy test and waited....one line...meaning i wasn't pregnant. i threw it away, a little sad. but knowing that it would happen when it was supposed too...then the next day i woke up and STILL nothing....i took another test first thing when i woke up...usually when i started my period previously i would start in the night or first thing in the morning. so the fact that there was still nothing was odd....but then again, i was cramping here and there and i had taken a test just 24 hours before with a negative result. i took the test and set it down....waiting patiently...and boom STILL ONE LINE?!?!? i was SO confused? i left it on the counter and walked away to do some random things around the house...i later came back to throw it away and i had to double take...there was 2 lines....faint...but still two. i was freaking out, id never seen this before. i immediately called my cousin who at this point was about 5 weeks pregnant....i sent her a picture and she goes “tay that positive, take another” so i did....this time the lines showed up FAST! i started balling. keep in mind jayko is still sleeping! there were super cheap tests...so a part of me thought that maybe since they were cheap that they were defective. i didn't say anything to jayko that day, we had company coming over and we both had softball/basketball games. i went the next morning to the store and bought the clearblue tests that say the word “pregnant”...i went into the work bathroom (i told you i couldn't wait) took both tests....and waited....after about a minute the word popped up....the word i so badly wanted to see...both tests came up positive. i started crying again....in the bathroom...at work....i couldn't believe that this was real. i was going to be a mom and i get to tell my husband that his dream is coming true, i get to tell him he is going to be a dad. that night i ended up telling jayko that he was going to be a father, it was the most exciting news i have ever delivered. i will be posing that video in my next blog post! i am so grateful that god trusted us to carry a child and start a family of our own. for all the ladies out there that are trying to get pregnant, i highly recommend the ovia app. it helped us a lot. we are so excited to be parents and have a little love that we created together. i will be doing weekly bump updates soon and am going to be talking my way through the weeks and what I've been experiencing. i am SO excited for this journey. I'm not going to lie its been a hard one so far, full of sickness. but so worth it. june 10th cannot come soon enough <3

my most anticipated post is HERE. my finished coffee bar. I've had this done for almost 2 months now but i have been tweaking things here and there until its exactly how i wanted it. i am OVER THE MOON with how this came out. what started out as an old buffet on craigslist ended up being my dream coffee bar. a little elbow grease never hurt anybody. i seriously get SO excited to make coffee every morning! I've attached a style guide below of some great items to have in your own coffee bar. sometimes its hard to think of things that would go/make sense but remember the possibilities are endless. ohhhh and if you haven't noticed.....my rae dunn obsession is SO REAL. i have SO much fun hunting for all the pieces. a more in depth collection will be up soon! now pour yourself a cup of joe, sit back, relax, and decorate with me. enjoy :)

Have you figured out I'm obsessed with refinishing furniture yet? I've been getting a ton of requests on asking if it really is as easy as i say....well the answer is yes! The hardest part is truly finding the right pieces with the shapes and lines that you like. People have asked if i could film the whole process from start to finish soo here it is! :) PS....the staple gun was giving me a lot of trouble so disregard that lol. I found this gem on craigslist and thought it would be the PERFECT entryway bench! I upholstered the seat into a cushion with the cutest grey striped fabric! This project was SO easy and turned out way better than i imagined! Remember you can customize the paint colors and the fabric to whatever fits your style! I hope you all enjoy! Thanks for watching! :)
Products Used:
Rustoleum Chalk Paint- Linen White
Natural Brissel Paint Brush
Rustoleum Chalk Paint Sealer - Matte Clear
100 Grit Sanding Block
1′’ Foam for Cushion
1 Bag Batting
1 1/4 Yards - Fabric of Choice
Staple Gun
Staples
Hammer
Scissors
1. Paint Entire Piece with Chalk Paint- i like to do two coats but feel free to do more or less depending on your desired look.
2. Distress piece with sanding blocks hitting areas that would naturally be hit in daily use. But really do whatever you think looks good!
3. Seal piece with matte sealant all over with one even coat.
4. Remove seat from bench
5. Lay down fabric of choice with the printed side down on the floor, then batting on top of that, them foam cushion on top of the batting them finally the wood seat on top of the foam.
6. Pull the fabric tight on to the wood and staple into place, continue doing so all around the perimeter of the seat until completed.
7. Turn over and check to make sure the fabric is tight and to your liking.
8. Cut off excess fabric with scissors ( This doesn't need to be pretty since it will be underneath so don't worry too much about it!)
9. Flip over the fully upholstered cushion, add back on the bench and THERE YOU HAVE IT a brand new (well old new, but you catch my drift) farmhouse bench!
