Day 5 of TAZ Poly Week

Today’s prompt was sick day/vacation day. Sorry it was a very busy!

Alas, I’m not going to have time or the right inspiration to write something new for @tazpolyweek this week. I had a fragment of an idea, but it was both way too sad for my current headspace, and my creative energies are all laser-focused on something else. [teaser: me and @magcretia are collabing again, and it’s gonna be ginormous] [tomorrow I’m posting a snippet from a longer WIP tho]

But: that said, I just wanted to write a little something something, because while I guess I’m “known” for “inventing” magcretia, for me it’s always been as part of this whole web of poly relationships, starting with what is sort of my heart: Taako and Lucretia both in love with Magnus in the Stolen Century.

I joke a lot about “polyblaster 4 lyfe”, but it’s actually something really special to me.

I’ve talked about the “origin story” of magcretia before, probably, but a part of that is that I was reading a lot of taagnus (special props to @nd43taags, btw) in the weeks before the Stolen Century reveal.

And it connected with some personal experiences from my younger years, times when I was good friends with my boyfriend’s boyfriends (both of the guys I’m thinking of were also older than me), and the good parts of those experiences, and so from the very very very first magcretia that was ever published on AO3 (hooboy I haven’t even looked at that in ages), it was poly.

That, honestly, I think has led me to really interesting emotional places in fic, things I’m happy I explored, things I think I wrote really well, not just taagnus/magcretia, but fic with Lup, with Barry, with Kravitz, fluff and angst and smut and even the over-the-top silliness that is Zone of Sexy Truth.

“That’s only when I’m in my flesh form. If I’m in my skeletal form, it won’t matter.”

“You’re going to melt your skin off and scare a bunch of kids on a roller coaster?” Magnus said.

“Well, it won’t be the ideal scenario, but I’d say the ends justify the means.”

“We’re going to get fucking arrested,” Taako said.

i put my blood sweat tears and other fluids into this please enjoy it. i love these dumb boys. might be a bit of a stretch but i think it qualifies for @tazpolyweek day 4: loving you

​Yes, I admit I spent my death with wedding halls like dollhouses in the back of my mind: all the things we talked about, darling, all the mixed and matched orcish-elvish decor, the cobwebs and rubies representing the two of us coming together into one — but now it feels a little cruel, in hindsight. Does he like fondant? Because we were going to do that thing with the spiders climbing the clipboard, but if he’s going to think it’s silly or tastes bad then we can still change plans! Because you said he’s a chef, didn’t you, and I know he won’t be dead for a few hundred years gods willing but that just means we have more time to get this thing right, darling, and of course we’re waiting for him, and of course he’s invited; I know Taako means everything to you… …so, so perhaps buttercream? — Brad, don’t laugh at me, this is important!

I don’t know how to look at you the way she used to, except that it helps, a little, that it’s the way she looks at you now. That it’s the way she looks at me, too,

My personal head canon for these three is it is rare they all can share a bed together.  Kravitz is often gone for long periods of time because of work, and Taako travels a lot for his show.  Magnus travels too for work, but not as often and not for as long, so Magnus’ house is like home base.  When they’ve wandered and need to come home, the house he built is waiting for them.  And sometimes the stars align and they’re all home together at the same time.  Luckily Magnus has two big strong arms to cuddle them both.
