Make-Up Sex
Got lazy as shit and haven't posted in a while. Didn't even make it in time to post before the weekend. Fuck me. To make up though here are a whole bunch of non-sucking tracks I've been feeling and/or buying lately.
Nasrawi - Two Won't Do [Love International]
No clue who Nasrawi is. And Love International is a 'netlabel' that doesn't do vinyl. Fuck that. Amazing song though.
Fudge Fingas - Untytled [Firecracker]
On its way to my PO box right now. Solid, smart.
Steve Reich - Nagoya Marimba (Hnny Edit) [No Rights Reserved]
Had to have this and the next song after hearing it the first time. Absolute monster tune. Whether I'm ignoring coworkers and raving at my desk or driving through puddles to splash 7 year olds walking home from school this song has been soundtracking it all.
Dorian Concept - Trilingual Dance Sexperience (Hnny Edit) [No Rights Reserved]
The B side to the Steve Reich edit above. Another killer tune. Spent more on this vinyl than any single one in my life. Fucking irresponsible of me. :)
Sound Stream - Dance With Me [Sound Stream]
Everyone should take some time to just crawl Sound Stream's discography and listen to every damn track. Stunning catalog.
Paul Birken - Acid Youth of Malibu [Earwiggle]
Shwooooooooooooooooooo. Think this is the first technotechno record I will have bought in quite some time. Powerful.
Boards of Canada - Everything You Do is a Balloon [Skam]
If you ain't got love for BoC, tsk tsk. I watch the video with my hands over my eyes.

Old, New, Borrowed, Blue 27.9.12
Selections...
Old: Fingers Inc - Can You Feel It [Jack Trax]
Let there be house.
New: Lay-Far - BYRSLF [Development Music]
No idea who this lad is but there is some nice house coming out of the UK at the moment. See also: NY*AK
Borrowed: Soul Capsule - Lady Science (NYC Sunrise Mix) [Trelik]
As heard closing out Midland's excellent XLR8R podcast.
Blue: Tiga - Gentle Giant [Different]
What a shitty party-pooping song. I am fucking crying right now while I blubber along with the lyrics.

Old, New, Borrowed, Blue 20.9.12
Selections...
Old: Moodymann - I Can't Kick This Feeling When It Hits [KDJ]
Nobody does house music quite like Moodymann. Classic.
New: Goldffinch - Belle [Audio Culture Label]
Bit of dub for the fall.
Borrowed: Late Night Tuff Guy - I Get Deeper [Lightspeed Recordings]
Updated version of the ever present vocal from Late Night Tuff Guy aka HMC recently featured on RA.
Blue: Mathew Jonson - When Love Feels Like Crying [Wagon Repair]
An example of a track name fully influencing the perception of a song. Still remember the first time I heard it.

Take it from the top...at 8am.

Old, New, Borrowed, Blue 6.9.12
What's been on my playlist this week...
Old: Mike Grant - The Struggle of my People (Mr. G's There's Hope Mix) [Mood N' Groovin]
Maya Angelou plus house beats = yes.
New: Will Azada - Let's Get Tight [Proper Trax]
Only new-ish, but this track rocks - bonus points for video from Detroit's The Scene
Borrowed: Tin Man - Falling Acid [Keys of Life]
As heard opening up Bunker resident Mike Servito's Beats in Space episode debut this week. No one can resist that acid funk.
Blue: Roman Flugel - Bahia Blues Bootcamp [Dial]
Blue in name only. Happiness all around here.

Old, New, Borrowed, Blue 30.8.12
And herein begins a series where I try to keep up and weekly post an old track, a new track, a borrowed track, and a blue track (whatever that happens to mean).
Old: Liberty City - Some Lovin' [Murk Records]
Impeccable early 90's house. All about the bass-y synthline in this one.
New: Kink - Express [Rush Hour]
Chugging along and devastating all in its wake. My kind of train.
Borrowed: Todd Terje - Inspector Norse [Smalltown Supersound]
Not so much borrowed as revamped in Mano Le Tough's excellent XLR8R podcast.
Blue: Peter Kruder - Young Girl [2DIY4]
Beautiful and melancholic. Rinse, repeat.

Petre Inspirescu - Evar: Pedro Pedro Pedro. Deep, entrancing Romanian house. No one does it quite like the arpiar guys. The first time I saw Pedro play I completely lost track of time and space. The second time the cops shut down the party about an hour into his set. The 3rd time was a glorious 8 hour journey. He really can do no wrong in my book. If only getting your hands on this vinyl didn't require a bank loan...

Kassem Mosse - 578: Kassem Mosse, cannot say enough good things about this mans production skills. This is possibly my favorite track by him and were it not for insane Discogs thievery I'd have it on wax by now. A perfect blend of rough techno and soothing house, each bar lures you in and then assaults you. Perfection.

Levon Vincent - I Owe You Everything: Levon Vincent doesn't get nearly enough credit in the techno scene. Lush, dubbed-out techno perfect for peak time and those late, late morning grinds. His recent mix for the Fabric series demonstrates his knack for unapologetic selection and showcases a couple tasty new tunes. If you know you know.
