We live for moments like this:

Dear Fans. We wish we’d have come up with a snappy fandom name, but we didn’t, so we’ll just call you friends. Dear Friends. It’s with heavy hearts and after much soul-searching and deliberation, we must announce that after 15 years, we, the international cult rock band Johnny Foreigner, are still a band.

And what a 15 years it was. What a waste. A consistent failure to convert critical acclaim into anything approaching comfortable sales. We lost time, friends, jobs, all to appease a steadily shrinking demographic because we felt it was the -right- thing to do. Real punx don’t get to choose.

We have tried to quit, believe us. We have families, responsibilities, commitments to a world that absolutely does not care that we spent the majority of our adult lives standing on the barriers, spitting into microphones with little effect. Touring is for young folks. Album cycles are for old folks. Both are pretty unappealing prospects rn, but they were always side quests; things that could happen -because- we’re 4 friends making noisy pop songs. We’ve talked at length about this and finally arrived at the unanimous unfortunate conclusion: That now is absolutely not the time to stop being 4 friends making noisy pop songs.

To mark this milestone, we’ll be playing A Singular Celebratory Show. Xth October, The Dome, London. Alcopop, our longest standing and most durable dad, will be reissuing Waited Up Til It Was Light on 12” with some extras. More details on that later, you know we’re not that into nostalgia.

On Saturday 16 of my favourite pieces from last year’s #drawingaday project are going up for sale at the @n.u.d.e.collective’s latest show - N.U.D.E #5 - “past, present, future” - at the GRAVITRON workshop, 19 Voortrekker road, Salt River. SA Games Round-up: 22-28th November

We started doing a weekly round-up of all the cool games related stuff we saw happenning in South Africa!

The lovely Ben Rausch, one third of indie super band, Team Lazerbeam, suggested we put the round-up in a blog post too for ease! So here we go!

Game Jam Island

The Free Lives team of Broforce fame, decided to go to Mauritius to game jame for a few months and release their next fame and money inducing success, Genital Jousting. They’re documenting the whole thing through a 12 part video series - here’s the launch of Genital Joustinag in part 11!

Frog Smashers

Frog Smashers is a rad FROGS ONLY combat game that looks like a mash-up between Samurai Gunn and Lethal League. It was a collaboration on Game Jam Island between Cape Town game devs Ruan, Ben, and Cape Town animator of awesomeness, Mike Scott.

Snow Cones 2

The Team Lazerbeam squad have been working on their follow-up to so-cool-it’s-ice-cream dating simulator, Snow Cones: Episode 1. They’ve been sharing little pieces of Episode 2 and this GIF of a procedurally animating character melted our Choc-chip hearts to oblivion.

Yojimbrawl

Probably the best game this year about stabbing people , after Genital Jousting, Yojimbrawl looks like a ton of fun, with some rad new art implemented too!

Super Regency Deluxe

This is a gorgeous looking RTS from the chaps over at Knife Media. We’re keen to get our hands on some game time soon too!

A Little Fire

The game is self-proclaimed as a “ VR survival game for wussies” and runs using the HTC Vive. The game looks like a bunch of silly, burny fun.

Shattered Realms

Just as we were finishing up our round-up, we got the news that superbly named, Kopskop Games, had released an Alpha demo of their gnarly brawler, Shattered Realms on Itch.io! Go give it a play!
