Cosplay Mania 2019 - Voice Actress Fan Meeting - Digest
On the second day of Cosplay Mania 2019, a fanmeeting panel featuring voice actress, Motoko Kumai and Rumi Okubo was held.
Motoko Kumai is famous for her role as Li Syaoran of Card Captor Sakura, Sumomo of Chobits and Kaoru Koganei of Flame of Recca.
Rumi Okubo is the voice behind Aguri of Gamers!, Rider of Black from Fate/Apocrypha and Elizabeth Bathory of Fate/Grand Order. It was a very interesting event and we're glad to share what happened. Please note that this report is based on our memory and notes we wrote down after the event since recording is not allowed in the SP Hall. Some translations might not be accurate and we might be missing some questions as well. Anyway, we still hope it will give you a glimpse of what we experieced.
Here are some questions they have asked and answered: -What motivates you as a voice actress? Kumai: My motivation is to be involve in an anime that moves everyone and everyone will be inspired. If I can be part of that anime, that motivates me most. Okubo: For me, im very happy when people tells me that the anime did very well and I did my job well
-If you are not a voice actress, what could have been your occupation? Kumai: I love baseball so I'll be a baseball player. Okubo: I actually love cosmetics and make up, so I think I'll be working in cosmetics or apparel Kumai: Is it okay if I share something? She (Okubo-san) did her own make-up today. Mine was done with a make-up artist Okubo: It's really beautiful. Kumai: Thank you!
-How do you internalize for a role? Kumai: I'll record it first and if the character is cute, I'll act it out as cute. (After that, she said "Arigato gozaimasu!: in a cute voice) Okubo: I try not to over analyze the character, because it may differ from what the director wants.
After some questions, they proceed in Shiki Board raffle. Each voice actress randomly choose 5 lucky ticket numbers from a bowl. Kumai-san called out the lucky ticket numbers she got. Okubo-san said to please forgive her because her English was bad and called out the numbers in Japanese. She realized that she need to call it out in English. She got embarrassed a bit but I think everyone find it cute.
After the raffle, both guest played the character voice line challenge. They were shown lines they needed to say and they have to say it in different personalities. First line was "Come see me someday, I'll be waiting in Japan". Kumai said the line in a serious mode while Okubo had to say it in a cheeky way. Everyone was cheering her on. The audience loved how Okubo said the line. Second line was "I'm happy I can spend this special day with you". Okubo-san was the first and she had to say it in slow-tempo voice. She, once again, swept the audience with her cute voice. Kumai-san went next and she had to try it in genki voice. She said the line and it's like Li Shaoran was saying it. After that, the host asked both of them to stand at the center of the stage and asked them to say "Mahal ko kayo". Both of the guest did it very well but the audience was swoon off their feet by Okubo-san because of her Elizabeth Bathory voice.
Before the panel ended, Cosplay Mania surprised Okubo-san with a birthday cake and everyone sang happy birthday to her. She was really happy with it and even took a photo of the cake.
It was a nice event. Im glad to see voice actresses grace our local stage and I do hope we get to see more.
That's it!
We hope you enjoyed this report.

Cosplay Mania 2019 - Stage Actor Fan Meeting - Digest

The Stage Actors fan meeting panel held during the 1st day of Cosplay Mania 2019 made every 2.5d fan girls come true.
Both of our guests are stars of "Haikyuu!" stage play. Allen Kohatsu played the role of Iwaizumi Hajime while Kousuke Asuma played as Oikawa Tooru, both from Aoba Jousai Volleyball Team.
The guest not only answered a lot of questions but also gave everyone a great time. To be honest, we really had fun as well. Here is our digest on what happened during the panel.
Please note that this report is based on memory, since recording was not allowed. We tried to jot down everything after we went out of the SP Hall so some translations might not be accurate and some questions during the panel maybe missing but we do hope you will get the feel of what we have experienced during the event.
The host gave a brief introduction of our guests and they came on stage and was greeted warmly by the audience.
Allen Kohatsu introduced himself and said "Kamusta kayo?" and "Mahal ko kayo". Kousuke Asuma introduced himself using few Filipino words as well "Kamusta, Kamusta! Ako si Kousuke Asuma"
Both actors were asked a number of questions: -What's your impression of Philippines? Kohatsu: I saw Manila Bay's sunset. It was beautiful. It's my first time in the Philippines and I want to enjoy it with you Kousuke: Everyone is all warm and I want to comeback here again
-For Allen Kohatsu, how did you start as an actor? Kohatsu: When I was in Elementary, I saw the movie Jack by Robin Williams and I got inspired.
-What manga and anime you are interested with? Kohatsu: I like Haikyuu and I love Iwaizumi Hajime. I also love Kimetsu no Yaiba Kousuke: Haikyuu! One Piece! I love Oikawa first but I love Iwa-chan second. Iwa-chan is my mother, right? In One Piece, I love Zoro.
-If given a chance to work again, what type of roles you want to play together? Kohatsu: Since we are teammates in Haikyuu, I want to be enemies on the next one. I want to kick him Kousuke: Yeah, I want to be enemies and I'll win in the end! Kohatsu: No, I will win!
-If you are not an actor, what will be your profession? Kohatsu: I think I want to be a pilot. I used to go to airport and see airplanes Kousuke: I will be a Japanese baseball player! A pitcher! (proceeded on pitching at the center of the stage)
-What is your hardest role as a stage actor? Kohatsu: Acting as Hajime was difficult because it was the 1st time I got a leading role. I need to learn the volleyball formation and such. Kousuke: Oikawa! Because it was my debut role so it was difficult.
-Do you have nicknames when you are a kid? Kohatsu: When I was in elementary, my classmates don't like carrots so I eat them instead so they called me "Carrots/Carrot-kun". You can call me Carrots Kohatsu Kousuke: For me, they call me "Baka". My senpai called me Baka but I told them my name is Kousuke!
-Good theme song for yourself Kohatsu: For me, Eye of the Tiger. It gives me power, boost of confidence. PAW PAW PAW! Kousuke: For me, it's One Piece's "We Are" (proceeded in singing few lines of the song with the audience)
-What is your favorite scene/act in your stage play? Kohatsu and Kousuke both agreed on fist bump between Iwasumi and Oikawa but then Kousuke added the scene where he thanked all his teammates while crying. They even acted out the fist bump.
-Describe yourself as an actor today Kohatsu: I’m very nervous on stage when I was starting but now I became confident Kousuke: When I was starting, I really did my best. I really did all my best that's why I’m here in front of you. I'll continue to work hard so I can comeback here.
After all the questions, they both did 2 rounds of Batsu Game. The 1st game was reading Filipino tongue twisters. While the host was explaining the ruels, they were also asked what Filipino food they have tried. Kouhatsu said Kare-kare and pansit (which he loved). Both actors agreed they love Jolibee and Chicken joy. Kouhatsu said it was their lunch and Kousuke said he ate Chicken Joy, fries, burger and rice.
For the tongue twisters, they need to repeat the word 3 times. They tried saying "Nakakapagpabagabag", "Bituka, Botika, Butiki" and "Ang relo ni Leroy ay Rolex". Kouhatsu really did his best speaking though not perfect but he did well. Kousuke, in the other hand, made some slips but was really funny. Th winner was decided on how loud the cheer was for each person and this was where Kousuke used his charm. It was successful and he won this round.
Second round was karaoke challenge. They need to pick a random song on the bowl. Kohatsu went again first and sang Sparkle by RADWIMPS. Kousuke kept on saying he is scared because Kohatsu had a really good voice. He sang the whole song with ease. He did mention that he knew the song and it's from Kimi no Na wa. After he finished the song, Kousuke keep on saying it was really good and now he is really scared. He went next and picked the song, "A Whole New World". He said it is difficult because it has 2 voices. The audience was shouting "DUET! DUET" so the host suggested that the audience will be Jasmine. As Jasmine's part comes in, Kouhatsu suddenly jumps in to sing it with Kousuke and they sang the song as a duet. The hall was filled with screams of happy fans. In this round, Kouhatsu won.
It was a tie so both of the guest need to do the punishment which was dancing "Baby Shark" with shark hat on them. They did their best on finishing the dance and asked if it was a popular dance here in the Philippines.
It was a fairly long panel but I’m sure everyone really enjoyed it, fan or not. Personally, this fan meeting is the one of my anticipated events in Cosplay Mania. We rarely get a chance to see voice actors and artist up close.
Anyway, that's how the Stage Actors Fan Meeting went during Cosplay Mania 2019 Day 1 - September 28th.
We hope you enjoyed this report.

💡✨5 Things You Need to Know About Cosplay Mania💡✨
Cosplay Mania is the largest and most anticipated Anime and Cosplay Convention in the Philippines with over 40,000 attendees last year, hundreds of exhibits, huge international sponsors and exhibitors, and unmatched, exclusive guests and content. Held on September 28-29, 2019 at the SMX Convention Center Manila in Pasay City (next to SM Mall of Asia), the convention will take place in a sprawling 9,130 square meter space.
So, how do you prepare for the mother of all conventions? Here is some essential information that will help you maximize your enjoyment.
1) Tickets: There are essentially 3 Ticket Tiers for Cosplay Mania: Silver, Gold and VIP. There are special, discounted tickets such as Ultra Saver, Super Saver and Great Saver, but they essentially do the same thing as the regular Silver, Gold and VIP aside from discounted rates.
Silver Tickets provide access to the entire convention including all the exhibits, Fan Meets and other activities at the convention except for the JAM (Japanese Anime Music) Concert.
Gold Tickets provide access to everything Silver Tickets do plus Standing Room in the back section of the JAM Concert.
VIP Tickets provide everything Silver Tickets do plus Reserved Seating in the front section of the JAM Concert. In addition, VIP Ticket holders also receive front section seating for special fan meets and access to the Premium Lounge where they can relax with free drinks and snacks.
Tickets can be purchased through any SM Tickets outlet located in SM Supermalls nation-wide or online through http://smtickets.com.

2) Entrances: There are essentially two entrances to the venue. First, there is the side entrance (church side) which is for people who do not yet have tickets. Second, there’s the main entrance for people who already have tickets.
Do you remember the Ultra Saver, Super Saver and Great Saver tickets we mentioned before? In addition to being cheaper, they come with the added benefit of allowing you to enter the venue as early as 9:00 AM, up to two hours earlier than those who choose to buy tickets on the day.
Early entrance gives you first dibs on all the exclusive merchandise, freebies and activities at the convention. As these items are usually limited, coming in early could ensure that you get your hands on them before they run out.
In addition, a portion of the exhibit will be open starting 10:00 AM which includes the Cosplay Mania Store, Food and Refreshment Booths and the Premium Lounge. This is a great place to grab a snack, get some early shopping done or relax in the Premium Lounge if you have a VIP Ticket.
3) Navigating the Con: Cosplay Mania 2019 is divided into two distinct areas: the EX Hall or Exhibits Hall and the SP Hall or Special Performance Hall. All the big exhibits including Collectibles, Fashion, Video Games, Online Games, TCG’s and much more are in the EX Hall.
Of special note is the Quantum Booth which features free play of the latest video games from Japan as well as huge video game tournaments. There is also the Lumica Stage where you can learn to use light sticks while dancing to amazing Japanese DJ’s and where you can watch the Cyalume World Dance Battle where the Philippine Representative will be determined. The Mobile Legends booth will also give out some official merchandise as well as launch new mobile games. Good Smile Company will also have event exclusive merchandise although some items will be sold in very limited quantities. There’s also the Ludus Booth for all the latest Collectible Card Games with game demos where you could take home freebies!
Tons of exhibit booths are also available as well as an artist section called Fan Fair where fan-made merchandise are available at very affordable prices. There’s so much to explore, so make sure to give yourself enough time to look around and really enjoy the convention.

4) The Stage Program: Aside from all the different exhibits to explore, there are two stages where the feature programs will happen: the EX Stage and the SP Stage. Both stages are packed with performances, fan meets, contests and more! Be sure to study the program schedule for both stages to maximize your enjoyment.
It is important to note, however, that the program for both days are very different and if you miss one, you won’t be able to experience that particular segment even if you return the second day. It’s also very important to remember that Cosplay Mania tries to keep things fresh every year which means a different line-up of guests so this could be your only chance to experience some of these guests in person for many years to come.
This year, the guest line-up includes International Cosplayers BoiledCurry, REA KAMI and VENaS Japan, Stage Actors Allen Kohatsu and Kousuke Asuma, Voice Actors Motoko Kumai and Rumi Okubo, Chiptune Legend Hige Driver, and Special Guest Hiroto Kuramasu!
The event will also culminate in a JAM (Japanese Anime Music) Concert, now powered by Animax featuring Yasutaka Nakata, Ichigo Rinahamu, ASAKA, MYTH & ROID and May’n! Remember, that you must have at least a Gold or VIP Ticket to attend the concert, however.

5) No Photos or Videos in the Fan Meets & Concerts: Fan Meets and Concerts are to be enjoyed, and nothing spoils it more than watching a sea of cellphones and tablets blocking your view. If someone is caught recording or taking photos during these times, they will be asked to leave the SP Hall without a refund. Live in the moment and enjoy the experience in person instead of through your devices. In most cases, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience so don’t spoil it for yourself and other people at the event.
Want to find out more? Check out Cosplay Mania’s official website at http://www.cosplaymania.com or their Facebook Page at http://facebook.com/cosplaymania for the latest news about this unbelievable convention!
See you there!
Here is prorgam schedule for DAY 1 and DAY 2
