Explanation under the cut

Patron is a sphynx-like creature. In general they are enigmatic and their temperament are often concealed to humans. They often appear aloof and serene.

If there are such things as emotions felt by a patron, what humans usually witness most would be disdain and contempt.

Their helpful and nurturing facade is often just a guise.

When a person dies yet has the desire to continue living, a Patron is summoned to take them to the after life (a pocket universe).

After they’ve taken something from you, as agreed upon by both parties, they will discharge a grub (usually glows with soft white) from their stomach and you’d have to eat/swallow it whole without chewing. They must ingest in order to move on to an "afterlife". Since a lot of people can’t do it by themselves, so usually the Patron would mouth feed you.

The grub can fuse with the host and grow with time as it feeds on the person’s emotion and identity, and once it’s big enough, the Patron can then devour it, but if the patron let it “overripes”, the human can evolve into a Patron.

A short strip between the protagonist and him. When a patron makes a deal/grants a wish to someone, they need to know the person's real name. But for some reason the deal can't be made even though she told him her real name??

What I like about them (her and Miguel) is that she’s trying to become just like him but he wants to become him too... They’re both trying to fulfill the role they create for themselves because they both feel inadequate and unloved. ^^

OKAY so...

Very basic summary of her backstory for universe 742!

Fontaine is an aspiring etymologist/geneticist at Alchemax. She's a bit younger than him and got into the corporate later than Miguel so hes kinda her colleague and mentor figure. However, during a collaborative project on recreating Spiderman (like in the comic), she somehow messed things up and got kicked out of Alchemax.

All of her researches belong to Alchemax so she wasnt allowed to take them due to rights/legal issues. She also lost her Babylon apartment (from alchemax).

Despondent, she looked to Miguel for support only to be met with silence. She tried to take some of her researches with her but only manage to get her hands on some notes. She fell into depression and just kinda live day by day doing random jobs and watching tv.

After a while seeing the resurgent of Spiderman and how much public reception he has, she grew angry and jealous of this Spiderman, because this could've been the result of her work too.

Motivated, she got back to the drawing board and began her own research and after a long while, managed to inject a substance that changes her DNAs to half of a wasp's. Fontaine started going after spiderman to vent her anger.

One day when she sneaks into alchemax as Spiderwasp to get more of her researches, spiderman caught her.

Upon confrontation and putting previous evidence together she realized its Miguel. This sent her spiraling.

Fontaine continues to be an antagonist until she meets spot hijacking Alchemax, and manages to steal a watch from another Spiderman, and got to 928b dimension (movie spider tower). She started disguising and blending in with the spider people there to find out more about things, subsequentially her involvement with the Web of Life and destiny, making new connections, questioning her life purpose, talking to Spot and other Spiderpeople. Thered be a lot of existential crisis and sneaking around.

From then on, it's possible that this universe will branch out to 4 different branches/directions/alt universes however you call it!

it's literally just ab myselfk sjdkf. I mean, all of my ocs are projections of my irl issues with different topics/flavors jgjgk The design is very intentional, she wants to be just like him can't you see ahhh cant you see TT her changes, taller, more masc, sharper looking.

But ofc you can see that it's an unattainable goal to try to become like Miguel. No matter how hard she tries theres no way she can catch up to him, he got everything she wants and even his dad is the boss of alchemax (in the comic, which I also use for this universe.) Meta wise it's also an allegory for my gender envy (?) trans??

When I see ppl like Miguel, there's a sense of admiration but there's also the feeling of enviousness and disappointment that follow. I have this kind of motif in a lot of my plots for my ocs too bc its smth i struggle w, whether meta or like, in-lore. (the what I could be vs what I’m given)

I hate being reminded that "No, actually you cant become anything you want. You can only become the best version of yourself." And idek whats the best version of ms. That is the essence of Hoạ. The desire to become something but you don’t really know what that is.

ince i'm quite fluid (idk if im nb or genderfluid tbh maybe both) and i like fluctuating between my identities, its easy when i feel femme bc i already look and am femme, but when i need to be more masc its such a struggle and you also cant just magically erase the 20+yrs of existing as a girl, so yknow, its frustrating. I mean, i say that im fluid and can be any gender but our mannerism can only help so much yknow

Shes quite bright and active as a child, but despite having successful parents (her father is a pilot and her mother a scientist) she grew up neglected.

Received 0 guidance and love as a child so she struggles with that as an adult. Fontaine looked towards other people to learn how to function and mimicked what she saw. From observation, the only way for her to feel accepted is to become like other people she comes across and idolizes.  When others are accepted n loved (like Mig) she wants to be like that too, ofc thats not how self love works but she didnt rlly know otherwise. (The desire to become the person she looks up to, to receive the admiration and love they receive.)

Shes generally okay as long as she can perform well/is productive. But thats the problem, since external validation is the only thing she's able to perceive so once that requirement isn't met her entire sense of self would collapse.

You can see even from the first glance, Fontaine is a conglomerate of the people she look up to. Her jacket and helmet are from her father that she repurposed, the helmet design imitate Miguel’s mask design, her becoming a scientist because of her mother (after failing her pilot dream).

Entering Alchemax, she was able to exert her ability. Although Ohara is a bit harsh towards her, she is still happy because at least there's feed backs vs she knows that someone cares enough. Yeah she's the type of unloved kid that would cause trouble or say things to get attention. She doesn't shy away from arguing with other people, as long as it solves the problem. However, when later confronts Mig742 she learns that he looks down on her and its a massive blow to her self esteem.

Because he's one of the person she looks up to, if not want to become just like him.
