For this Weeks TechtalkRadio Show Andy Taylor is joined by Shawn DeWeerd and Slick. They recap last week’s episode which looked at Midjourney with Justin's scary images created on the platform. The Video from the Show with those images is available on the Blog.techtalkradio.com. Slick, Shawn and Andy talk about doppelgangers and who each member of the show looks like. Andy shares that he believes Shawn looks like the grown-up version of the kid from Two and Half Men. Slick has been told he looks like Gil Scott Heron and Shawn brings up his image during the show which surprises everybody at the resemblance, almost as much as Andy's likeness in the 80's to film director John Landis. Andy shares a story of Driving on the Studio Lot at Universal and getting waved through. In a Non-Tech Direction in our idea to occasionally Unplug, Shawn tells us about Outdoor Axe Throwing during his recent Camping Trip. How much do your photos on services like Google Photos say about you? A discussion on how the services can identify products and images and share where you could buy products in your photos. Speaking of Google Photos found at photos.google.com through a google account, the crew shares how to upload photos from the computer to share on the service then be downloaded to a smart device. Microsoft has made the announcement that WordPad is going away from the Windows Operating System. Slick gives us a background about Notepad and WordPad from his days working in Support and how these programs were created and why. Shawn shared info on an Alternate program to WordPad, Notepad ++. Slick tells us why he has loved that program. We find out that Slick has not heard about AlternativeTo.Net which can offer many Open-Source alternatives to programs for WordPad and office type apps. One of the recommendations is Open Office. Also discussed is alternatives to Video, Audio and Photo Editing. Shawn loves DaVinci Resolve. Andy Taylor shares a product he will be featuring on this week’s KMSB Fox 11 Segment, the Sabrent USB 3.1 Enclosure for NVMe PCIe M Key M.2 SSD Enclosure. For this Weeks TechtalkRadio Show Andy, Shawn and Justin talk about Justin's purchase of Audio Technica Turntable and how much fun he has had getting the Vinyl out and playing it on the system which has many nice features. The recent Cyber Attack on Tucson Unified School District systems has been confusing for some, Andy talks with Mike Lettman, CISA Region 9 Cybersecurity advisor about what it means and how this and other Ransomware attacks occur. Mike explains how this may have happen and how anybody could be a target when it comes to data. Mike tells us about the formation of CISA, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency in 2018 and how cybercriminals target and why they target K-12 Schools. Mike shares info on the recovery process after ransomware attacks and what it may take to get the systems operational again. For this Weeks TechtalkRadio Show Andy and Shawn talk about the latest announcement from Wyze with its OG Camera. Shawn picked one up for right around 20 bucks and talks about how the camera line has evolved over the years to present and how easy they are to set up. Microsoft has announced that they are going to stop the sales of the Download of Microsoft Windows 10 on January 31st for those to build a new system or update however as Andy says, the Windows 10 update at record time could still be found on the Microsoft Website. Shawn notes that support for Windows 7 and 8.1 ended January 10. What was recently polled as the best video game of all time? We were surprised at the results, FIFA sports. Inventor of the Leap Pad Jim Marggraff visits the show to talk about the creation back in 1999 of the Leap Pad and how the thought came to create this paper-based multimedia. Jim tells us about connecting with grandchildren and keeping in touch with them using technology. The idea goes beyond sitting in front of them in a face time call, it’s about making the connection. Jim tells us about his new venture, Kinoo Magic Wand which utilizes screen sharing and books along with fun characters on screen during this "Video Call" to engage the child, and of course the grandparent! We also learn of the collaboration with Highlights Magazine for continued content for learning and fun. In this Weeks TechtalkRadio Show Andy talks with Justin about the early computers they had and how far the technology of personal computers has come along. Andy tells us about a repair on the Dell 7779 Inspiron which had him frustrated at all the steps just to replace the keyboard. After the complete overhaul, Andy ran into Bitlocker which was enabled however the owner of the laptop did not have the recovery key. A few changes in the Bios enabled this to be bypassed but it was on pins and needles to get to that point. Justin tells us about a problem with his Pixel Watch and a crack that appeared on it and the problems he ran into getting it fixed, it can't be! Luckily, he purchased with American Express, Justin tells us why! Rick leaves us a comment on our Facebook Page about getting a Secret Labs chair after Justin had mentioned it and how Rick feels about it. Friend of the Show Mitch Goldstone of ScanMyPhotos.com talks with Andy about preserving photos and film and how they can turn around scanning in one day in most instances with one day scanning and how they provide the expert touch on Slide Carosoels and Super 8MM film which digitizes individuals frames. Mitch also shares a warning for those with VHS tapes and another reason they should be preserved. Mitch was able to attend CES2023 and tells us about the show including what the United States Post Office is doing to energize Postage Stamps. Andy talks with Dijam Panigrahi, Co-Founder of AR/VR GridRaster on the hopes that Apple was going to be more involved in AR/VR. The discussion on Augmented Reality focuses on how companies will employ this technology in the future and where the industry is now. GridRaster works to develop the solutions for companies large and small and Dijam tells us about the importance in design.
