I was looking back at some 2017 articles when rep was announced and even then every article had this scorn to its tone like “ugh god here she is again with an album no one wants, thought we cancelled you?”

coming back with rep with full knowledge of how it would be perceived (and leaning into that instead of fighting to change it) is up there with the bravest things she’s ever done

i still cannot believe taylor owns her masters and the re-record saga is basically over. part of her letter that really stuck me was the part where she said if she releases debut tv or the rep vault it would now be a celebration for her and not feeling like it was coming from a place of sadness or longing for what she cant have. i honestly never thought of the part of it for her before, every time she released a new re-record it must've partly broke her heart a little bit to have to devalue that specific part of her legacy, im glad shes gets to do it from a happier place now (if she does).

do you know just how bonkers it is that debut and reputation, albums that are 18 and 7 years old respectively, earned their biggest (debut) and second biggest (rep) streaming days on spotify yesterday? like, that’s such an impressive feat. no one, and i truly mean no one, is doing it like taylor.

the fact that T hasn’t been able to re-record rep and acknowledged just how much that album was a ‘you had to be there’ moment is truly a testament to that era. there was always something so uncomfy at the prospect of rep tv and so many people that openly hated her and forced her into that incredibly dark place real time during rep getting to switch sides and stanning rep tv. rep was always for the swifties, for everyone that stood by her without wavering and were fighting in the trenches for her.
