Okay so i spent like a few hours actually trying to mull this over bc this is hard! What do i think says the most about someone. People are so complex and varied and interesting! Do I want to know the most collective things about them or one most important thing about them. 🤔😅

i've had so many conversations with people in fandom/creators' circles who are genuinely afraid to make the stories or art they want because they fear (often with good reason!) that their friends might kick them out of their circles, or worse, launch a public harassment campaign against them.

as someone recovering from this fear-based mindset, i want to affirm:

- friends who use implicit or explicit threats to maintain social control are not your friends

- communities that monitor your social media and ao3 to surveil you for perceived transgressive content are not safe communities

- the vast majority of people are NOT going to hate you if you make the art you want

- if you find yourself in a friend group that makes you feel afraid to speak your mind, it's in your interest to disentangle yourself from that group as quickly as possible

- real, honest disagreements between friends can be solved respectfully without the use of public shaming

- if you're feeling afraid in a community, it's likely that others are feeling afraid too. support your friends who may be struggling to leave an abusive fan or creative community, and let them know you're a safe person to voice doubts and disagreement to.

- if you're feeling like you'll never find a safer community of people, i promise there are others who feel that way too. it may take some time, but you'll find people who treat you and your ideas with respect. a good place to start is the people who make the type of art that you admire but that you're too afraid to make yourself.

Are you delusional or do you genuinely think Russian AI bots are the ones calling you racist? Are you so narcissistic that you can’t believe that anyone could have an actual problem with you based on the fact that you’re a weird racist white girl? And you seem completely incapable of self-awareness, which is kind of funny but mostly just sad to watch?

As i tried to make clear. Over a year ago. Excuse me. Over 2 years ago. In the post i think youre refering to. I was not responding to criticisms made to just me. I was analyzing trends of guest comments and asks made to multiple authors, irregardless of their race, For a specific voyager ship. Those comments contained recurring, vague criticisms not tied to story content, and specificly suicide baiting, and it occured at a time that coincided with the rise of chatgpt and a proliferation in bot-created spam. It was not delusional to consider. At the time it was the only thing that made sense as there was nothing connecting the fics and authors work except a ship tag.

And i dont know why you find this in any way funny. In response to harrassment stemming from this i took down 40 fics that could possibly be spurring it, in the hopes that that would satisfy who ever is mad enough to suicide bait me but not thoughful enough to explain why they have a problem with how i write voyager characters.

I did ask, quite early on, whether the person or people upset with my writing could point to anything they thought was problematic. Only one person ever did. Pointing out one line, where i had harry kim stutter after seeing his captain come back from the dead. This aparently was anti asian bias and i was infantalizing him. I dont agree with that characterization of the stutter. But i changed the line thinking that would make the harrassment stop.

It did not stop. Furthermore, no other specific instances of racist content have been pointed out to me. The anons or persons with a sockpuppet account or bots - and yah, the vague nature of the criticisms and the repetitive structure of the messages do make it hard to tell in this day and age whether its coming from a bot- continues to accuse me of "infantalizing harry kim" "giving chakotay no personality" "making him just exist to romance janeway" and "making belanna the angry sexy latina lady". and then they threaten my family or livelihood or whatever and tell me to kill myself. and while these criticisms hurt, because guess what, *i dont actually want to be writing my favorite characters in problematic ways,* the criticisms are functionally useless to me without context.

So for the last time. Its not funny. Im not trying to be a racist. And im trying to take these criticisms seriously, those 40 or so fics wont be seeing the light of day until theyve been content reviewed and im satisfied they're revised effectively or are fine. So i dont think im the one incapable of self awareness here. Fuck off.

Finally home again! And now we are almost done with season 3 they turned T’Pol into a drug addict and Jonathan into a full on war criminal. I really sympathize with this arc ending up where it has as a result of the enterprise truly living through their year of hell and I am almost fully invested into this xindi / transdimensional conquistador/time traveling aliens except for the fact that they are ??? different from the Suliban??? And the Xindi are so trusting of a time traveling harbinger of death that has provided no proof that humans are going to actually kill them???
