Man, Horikoshi, you're really breaking my heart here. I wanna talk about some of this because this chapter makes me so sad.

This panel hurts me because I lived something very similar. My mother used to scream and throw shit at me and then throw me out of the house and tell me I wasn't allowed back inside until I learned how to be grateful for her letting me live under her roof (among other reasons...also that is a basic necessity that parents are required to provide for their children, y'know, but I'm not gonna get too into it rn). I would have to sit outside alone on the street and wait for my dad to come home from work to let me back in and keep her from attacking me. I was 10. I can only imagine how much harder it would be on a 5 year old.

The absolute terror in his eyes. So sad, because it's very real. When your parent does something to fuck you up mentally as a child, you get this...bone gnawing, blood curdling fear that forms any time they raise their voice or say your name a certain way. I still get it, and I'm now 27.

Props to Horikoshi for fleshing out the story from a writer's perspective, BUT there's literally never an excuse to act out towards your kid or HURT THEM in any way. Not ever.

I can't even tell you how heartbreaking it is to have no one to turn to as a child except your pet. I had a cat like that growing up, she was my best friend and I still cry thinking about her even though she's been gone for 6 years. She was the only one who was there for me whenever that shit went down.

Excuse me while I wail for eternity over this chapter.
