I’m not sure if this is purely a neurodivergent thing, but I had one of those moments today where you consciously acknowledge, for the first time, something weird that your brain does and you’re just like “Welp, time to move on with my life, I will never see the world quite the same way again.”
Today I realized that my brain has been registering the fronts and backs of cars as faces for my entire life.
I was driving behind a car that didn’t have a back license plate for some reason, and my brain went, “Weird, that car doesn’t have a mouth.”
I am now flooded with memories from my childhood of liking some cars more than others because of the proportions/shapes of their “faces”.
Apparently my facial recognition has been working overtime…

The problem with sewing is that you quickly realise you have dumped lots of skill points into control thread and furthermore, there’s a lot of other hobbies that require control thread so you decide to pick up knitting, or crochet, or weaving, and then spinning happens to you, or rug making, or cord weaving, and then you turn the wrong corner on the internet and find out control thread also specs into basket weaving, and book binding, and then you’re thinking things like “I wonder if this also applies to lead climbing” and now you have A Problem

Rolls to Alarm Your Players
Want to spice the game up? Why not try alarming your players for no real reason? Make sure to make a show out of counting the dice before you roll.

update:
2 1/2 hours
fall count: 5
(this is good considering that I haven’t skated in years)
shoutout to my rusty roller skating skills, a pair of skates I thrifted for $20, and my local rink’s rainbow skate night.

Blocking the results of last night's efforts. Not so sure the compound leaf fits in with the rest, but it was a nice experiment either way.

This is a piece I made a while ago but I’ve been playing around with fiber this past week. Something about the rhythm of slow stitching and the thread between my fingers is very grounding and meditative.

I have an informal rule that I try to stick to when it comes to starting projects:
For each medium (crochet, knitting, spinning, etc.), I can only have one active project at a time—only when I finish my current WIP for that medium can I start something new.
I don’t include gifts or commissions in the count since they’re time sensitive.
I don’t always follow this rule, but it keeps my number of WIPs at a reasonable level (ish).
The thing is, just because I can’t start a new knitting project until I finish my current one, does not mean I can’t Teach Myself a Whole New Craft and start a new project.
What I’m trying to say is that I can tablet weave now.
I’m still getting the hang of it, and my setup incredibly janky since I don’t own a loom, but it’s so cool.

Not the prettiest, but it’s definitely a learning experience.
(we don’t talk about the first project I started)

Fibre crafts can be expensive, and the specialist tools for fibre crafts even more so, but if you wait long enough someone within 50 miles of you WILL be giving away a floor loom for free.
There’s a reason for this

Interaction of the day:
Me: *silently crafting*
*cue frustrated demonic screeching noises because I messed something up*
Family member (from other room): Are you okay?
Me: Yeah, I’m just fighting with string.
*beat*
Family member: Are you winning?
Me (with the combined voices of all fiber artists before me):
…the string always wins…

The most unjust feeling in the world is a sleep hangover. I don't know if there's a proper name for it. I got so much sleep for once, I slept so well, I rested properly, and now I feel like shit for it??

"If you use em dash in your works, it makes them look AI generated. No real human uses em dash."
Imaging thinking actual human writers are Not Real because they use... professional writing in their works.
Imagine thinking millions of people who have been using em dash way before AI becomes a thing are all robots.
