Soo I was kinda sad that I really didn't care much for the wlw ship in arcane but really liked jayvik, then I figured out that jayvik just literally hits like almost every trope I like:

Outwardly strong character being vulnerable/pathetic

Outwardly fragile character being powerful/dominant

best friends to lovers/platonic soulmates

Madness/corruption arcs

Ancient magic/eldritch horror

Nonhuman/monster forms

Which I feel many of these aren't that common in wlw ships? (If you have recs pls tell me <3)

But then. I realised there is a very similar one. That I happen to be obsessed with as well:

POV you bring your loved one back with forbidden magic and then they turn into a monster

Meljay is so interesting. People conflate the obvious feelings of their business casual situationship as a them being romantic lovers, but I think it’s better that they were right on the precipice of being something real and vulnerable. Then they both got sent to a their own version of hell coming back different and miles apart. The final scene of them together feels like an amicable break up ‘we can’t go back I’m sorry I’m not the same person anymore and I’m sorry for who I was. I did/do truly love you, but we are both going in different directions’.

Goodbye #S1 meljay couldn’t work while s2 could work but they both have such different priorities it still wouldn’t work #Also so interesting the only relationship between 2 poc and they have very different relationships w their moms
