Hello! There's too much to do, too much to see. I don't have enough energy to do enough, but I'm going to try my best.

Skull kit done!
This was fun. I had never used knots in a project before. I did the French knot section in three two hour sessions. Once I got started it was easy to fall into a good rhythm.
I have a few things I want to do before I start my next embroidery project. I have a blanket I want to make into a body pillow, a gift to make for my mom, and the Ursula custom. I'm nearly there with Ursula. Should be done with her some time next week.

We took our first flea market trip of the year today. The weather was cool and gray, so there weren't as many vendors out. But we both managed to find some things.
I love vintage GI Joes, especially when they have hinged fingers. I wish he had both arms, but I probably got a discount because of his lack. It could lead to a fun custom project in the future. I don't buy these guys for their faces.
I also picked up the Purge movies.

A quick update on the kit and life.
Nearly done with the skull. I was worried the teeth wasn't standing out like I wanted, but the picture shows me it's working.
My supplements are working so well. I didn't realize how disconnected I felt until the b12 kicked in. I haven't felt like this since August 2023. I'm back to doing my physical therapy exercises and daily walking. I also want to catch up on hobbies I wasn't able to fully enjoy.
Which means all I want to do is play video games.

New toy arrived!
I had been going back and forth over whether to buy a PS5 or a handheld PC. I would have liked a gaming laptop, but the handheld PC was more affordable. After weighing the game options on both systems, I decided I'd get more use out of the PC. I have a big ol' backlog that could benefit from the portability of the PC. And there wasn't a killer game for the PS5 for me to justify the purchase.
Well, not until I saw the trailer for Romeo is a Deadman. Fuck. It looks so good...
I'm still happy with my choice. This thing's lighter than I thought it'd be.

I was wrong about the number of injections. I get to inject myself only three times, once per month.
I did my first one today. It was weird, but manageable weird. I also took my first Vit D pill.
This week's been good. I have dizzy moments instead of dizzy days. I'm hoping to have enough energy to restart my physical therapy exercises.

I was right; split stitch looks great on the skull.

The Quest to Figure Out What the Hell's Going on in My Body continues.
So I talked to my neuro doctor about my test results. I'm deficient in D and B12. I'm getting a pill for D and injections for B12. I only need to inject myself for six weeks, then I get a pill. All well, good, and expected to an extent. I wasn't expecting injections.
But.
My cortisol level is high enough to warrant a referral to an endocrinologist. My hormones might be fucky. She mentioned PCOS and Cushing's as possibilities, but she's not an expert so it's time to see one. She did look at my MRI to make sure there wasn't a little tiny tumor that was overlooked. There wasn't, thankfully.
I'm a little nervous about the possibilities. But, at the same time, I'm glad there's still something to explore. She had me worried with the 'stumped' comment. But it's fine to be stumped if you have an idea of where to go next.
On a happier note, I spent all my birthday money on a handheld gaming pc. Can't wait to play all the games that have come out in the past five to ten years.
#musings#medical musings#I'm tired of all this bouncing back and forth#but if it works out I'll be happy#and I'm gonna take all my new found energy#and get fucking ripped

A sort of collaboration between my Dad and me.
He made the vase and I arranged the flowers.

It's my birthday!
My neurologist wants to see if I'm deficient in some nutrients, so I made an appointment to submit blood today as an excuse to get Egg Mcmuffins for breakfast. The lab I go to is always quick; the techs friendly. I was kinda hoping the tech would notice it's my birthday, but nope. Oh well.
I saw a possum on my way home. First I've seen in real life.

We were away for the holiday weekend and the girls were a little sad about it.

Love it when a medical professional looks you in the eyes and says 'I'm stumped.'
Really cements u inthe chronically ill catagory.
#medical musings#I mean she is going to order more blood tests#but that also feels like a chronic illness trope

Weekly update!
I had the audacity to go out and do light errands two days in a row so my body decided to punish me with a little crash. Maybe not little, I'm still feeling pretty bad. Thankfully I finished the last left clover before the crash started. When I mustered up energy for embroidery I didn't have to waste precious brain power on more complicated stitches.
The instructions wanted me to make the spiderweb with one strand. Previous experience informed my decision to use two, which is working out. Instructions wanted long and short in eye sockets. I like the texture of split better.
This week I hope to finish the eye sockets and nose hole, but I have a doctor's appointment I have to drive to due to bad weather and we're traveling this weekend for family gathering. So I might be lucky to finish just the one socket.

We took Momo for a walk on Sunday and she hated it less than the first time she was outside.

This week's progress post.
The milliner needle is helping me so much with the bullion knots. I also figured out that shorter strands are easier to pull through. I probably use longer strands than most people would advise. I'll probably cut my prepared strands in half.
Otherwise it's smooth stitching. The plan this week is to continue on the left. I can't wait to start on the skull. The instructions want me to use satin stitch, but I think I'm going to use split. I used it for another embroidered skull and I really liked the texture it created.

My fingertips are swollen but I'm figuring it out.
The best thing about learning bullion knots is I now understand how the back stitch works. I haven't done much in back stitch because I like stem stitch so much better. Whenever I need to outline something, I use stem stitch. Next time, though, back stitch.
I'm still having some trouble maintaining the tension while pulling through the knot, but it's getting better. This is why I still buy kits.
Thank you for all the attention on my first knot. I do appreciate the feedback!

Bullion knots have awoken the hyperfocus part of my brain because I don't want to sleep, just want to work on learning long knot.
And I would be, if Chantico didn't bully me into turning off my light so she could sleep.
Probably just as well, since the last one was terrible.
