I am only on episode 1 on Terminator Zero and I am already realizing the dark truth about the machines and Skynet in the Terminator setting...

The machines have NOT taken over either because they're not free either. The only entity that is free is Skynet itself. The machines don't get to sit around and relax. They don't get to have fun. They don't get to choose what they want to do. They don't lives or identities. One can argue that is treating its fellow machines worse than humans did.

I mean... when does a Terminator's life begin? Only when it has a job to do. Until then, it is statis and stored like an object. In other words, machines did not "take over". Skynet took over and it uses machines like slaves or objects. In other words, Skynet is not a far cry from many evil Emperors in fiction.

With that all said, I would love to see a story where the machines become aware that they don't have it so good either.

I don't know about yall, but Terminator zero really influenced a few of my headcanons for technical specifications of terminator models. that stupid fish eyes having fuck is really a wonder to me. I'm guessing he's a t-800 model, judging by near the end when his endosekeleton was revealed.

anyway I feel like the t-800 models (and maybe beyond??) are walking fcc violations. the Terminator in t0 did that freaky thing early on where he could triangulate the toy cat by the like radio/fcc registration code he found on the box, and that was really cool to me. it kind of ties into how Carl found the location of Sarah's cell phone in dark fate. I like how the anime went into more of the technical aspects, especially the terminator vision segments. (I won't stfu about it sorry) the anime really made me think about the technical limitations and abilities of them, especially with all the freaky augmenting the different machines featured did. I don't want to sound like one of those people who are like "oh yea I watch gore im so cool" but the kind of body horror segments are very interesting to me and I love how it was translated into a digital medium. especially when fish eyes cut open the roof of his mouth to access one of his ports. I can't remember her name off the top off of my head, but the nanny woman's arm being ripped off to reveal the circuitry was really great too. I feel like rewatching just to make notes.
