I've been seeing so much "every fandom/ship has bad apples" etc. I don't know why that bugs me. It just does. There aren't bad apples- there are just mean,bad people out there. I feel like when you label bad apples, you are demeaning a ship and that isn't fair. A ship (and their shippers) shouldn't be defined by bad people lingering about. Am I making sense?? I need more coffee!!

You know- I thought I was off of my nanny job for the weekend... You know where I have to witness children fight and argue over the most ridiculous, stupid things. Turns out... If I get on any ouat related tag, I'm treated to more of the same immature, silly behavior! Bad ass!

thoughts on Hook using the dagger...

(spoilers ahead consider yourself warned)

I’ve seen a few people comment on the BTS footage from the S5 premier.  Some people seem disappointed or confused that Hook wielded the dagger and tried to summon “The Dark One” instead of saying “Emma”.

I’m here to tell you that it is HIGHLY SIGNIFICANT that he chose those words.

Hook, and Colin when talking about the show, is the only character besides Belle that refers to Rumple and The Dark One as two separate entities - he talks of The Dark One inhabiting Rumple. He’s also the only character alive that knew Rumple before he became the Dark One. So Hook has a different view of The Dark One Curse than Regina, the Charmings, and the rest of the EF people do - they’ve only ever known Rumple after he was cursed -  they all viewed Rumple AS THE DARK ONE.  Hook did not think of it that way exactly - he thought of Rumple as becoming the Dark One - or rather the Dark One becoming him.

So in that dagger scene when Killian Jones cries out “Return!” he just may be speaking to Emma. But when he commands “Dark One appear!” he isn’t speaking to the woman he loves, he’s talking to the evil force he’s just witnessed entering her body. He’s talking to The Dark One…because he doesn’t need to know where it is to communicate with it - he just needs the dagger.

Emma has disappeared before Hook’s eyes - he doesn’t know where she is or how to reach her. But the Dark One…the Dark One he can talk to - and he can summon it with the dagger.

And he knows that it will bring Emma with it.

Hook’s upset and dealing with conflicting emotions right now.  There have been a lot of comments about Hook spending all those years “trying to kill the dark One but now he’s dating her”.  

But the truth is The Dark One is still Hook’s enemy:

The Dark One killed Milah

The Dark One cut off his hand

The Dark One has attached itself to the soul of his True Love Emma

And now he’s got to do what he was unable to do in over 300 years of trying - he’s got to destroy the Dark One…and do it without harming the woman he loves.

So make no mistake, when Hook uses that dagger to summon The Dark One he’s not calling to Emma - he’s speaking to his greatest foe. He’s afraid and he’s heartbroken - but he’s also firm and resolute.  He isn’t going to let the Dark One take away his happy ending - or Emma’s.

This is war. And the Dark One is going down.
