The Most Successful Hockey Team

As a self-employed attorney, Terry Chucas stands as a representative of parents and children in the dependency court of appeal. He is an alumnus of the Thomas Jefferson School of Law. Terry Chucas is also an avid hockey enthusiast, and he actively played for 38 years.
According to the national hockey league, the Montreal Canadiens stands as the finest hockey team in the sport's history. The team was founded in 1909 as it was one of the pioneer members of the National Hockey Leagues (formerly known as the National Hockey Association). The Montreal Canadiens recorded their first win in the 1915/1916 Stanley Cup Championship Season. The team proceeded to dominate the ice hockey sport both home and abroad. However, they experienced a period of drought after winning their fourth Stanley championship in the 1930/1931 season for 12 years.
The team had a great comeback after signing in Maurice Richard in 1942. Blake Toe is another important figure in the history of the Montreal Canadiens. He retired as a player in 1948 but came back as a coach for the team and led them to dominate the 1955/1956 season. Although still well known by the 1980s, the team was not topping the charts as before. But by the 1985/1986 season, the youngest Conn Smythe Trophy winner, Patrick Roy, joined the team, and they once again reclaimed their title.
The Montreal Canadiens has made so many legendary landmarks in hockey history. One is that the team has won about 24 Stanley cup championships. Great ice-hockey players have emerged from the team like Tomas Plekanec and Patrick Roy.

An Overview of California's Professional Hockey Franchises
A graduate of the Thomas Jefferson School of Law, Terry Chucas has three decades of experience as a San Diego, California-based attorney, including 10 years as a lawyer emphasizing dependency court appeals. Beyond his professional responsibilities, Terry Chucas enjoys reading and following sports. He is an avid hockey fan, having played the sport since he was seven years old. The state of California is home to three professional hockey franchises: the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, the San Jose Sharks, and the Los Angeles Kings. The Mighty Ducks are the state’s youngest team, having joined the National Hockey League (NHL) for the 1993-1994 season. Following the typical early struggles faced by most expansion teams, the Ducks made their first Stanley Cup appearance after a 43-27 regular season in 2002-2003, losing to the New Jersey Devils in seven games. Just three seasons later, Anaheim returned to the Stanley Cup Finals, this time defeating the Ottawa Senators in five games, bringing California its first professional hockey championship. The San Jose Sharks have more playoff wins than any California-based hockey franchise, despite joining the league just two years prior to the Ducks. The Sharks have 119 postseason victories, though a six-game loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2016 Stanley Cup Finals marks the team’s best playoff showing to date. Lastly, the Los Angeles Kings is California’s oldest team. The Kings joined the NHL in 1967 but did not make a Stanley Cup Final until 1993, a five-game defeat to the Montreal Canadiens. Despite making the postseason only four times over the next 15 seasons, the King’s fortunes changed in short order. A pair of NHL Conference Quarter-Finals losses prepared the team for its first successful Stanley Cup run in 2012, a six-game series win over the Devils. The Kings made the Conference Finals the following season before once again capturing the Stanley Cup in 2014, this time over the New York Rangers, cementing Los Angeles as California’s most decorated hockey franchise.

Judging Wines

Terry Chucas, a self-employed attorney in San Diego, serves on the dependency appellate panel for California's Second District Court of Appeal in Los Angeles and Fourth District Court of Appeal in San Diego. In his free time, Terry Chucas is an oenophile - a lover of wine. If you love wine, you’ll discover that finding a “great” bottle of wine depends on your personal taste. You may prefer wines from specific locations, such as France or Oregon, or you may be partial to wines made from different types of grapes, such as Concord or pinot noir. However, several characteristics of good wine are universal. One of the first things to notice about a wine is its fragrance. In a broad sense, a good aroma means the wine is good. However, great wines have intense aromas that make recognizing different flavors, such as apple and spice, easier. The balance of a wine determines its quality. Having multiple flavors boosts complexity, but these flavors must be properly balanced to ensure that the wine tastes good. Normally, well-balanced wine has fruit flavors that briefly touch the tongue and “finish” flavors, such as oak, that linger. Great wines may also have multiple flavors that stay on the tongue for a nearly equal length of time.

In his leisure time, Terry Chucas enjoys seeing Broadway plays such as his favorite, Evita, written by Tim Rice with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. As a teenager he spent time singing with the Aardvarks, a local pop band, but then decided to attend law school. His pursuit of the legal profession changed when he met Andrew Lloyd Webber in 1965. The two began a life-long collaboration that began with a short pop oratorio that was performed at London's Colet Court School in 1968. Soon, the two began working on Jesus Christ Superstar, which premiered in 1970. They returned to their first piece, expanding it into the full-length show known as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Their third collaboration, Evita, told the story of Eva Peron, a first lady in Argentina who gained power through the strength of her personality and drive.

Renovations Allow San Diego YMCA to Expand Services
Terry Chucas brings a quarter century of experience in the field of family law to serve the people of San Diego, California. The Thomas Jefferson School of Law graduate also supports worthy causes such as the YMCA. Thanks to contributors such as Terry Chucas, the San Diego YMCA continues to be able to offer expanded programming to its community. Named in honor of the baseball legend, the Jackie Robinson Family YMCA of San Diego County temporarily closed early in 2016 to make way for an extensive renovation. Improvements totaling nearly $20 million brought in a completely updated fitness center with group workout areas for Zumba and other popular routines in a much larger overall floor plan. In July of 2016, the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new facility hosted Jackie Robinson’s daughter as well as sports figures and local dignitaries, all celebrating the YMCA’s mission of fostering close family and community ties. Situated in Lincoln Park, the San Diego YMCA reaches out to build connections to a community often torn by gang violence and a lack of access to social services. The YMCA’s renovations permit the organization to open its high-quality programming to thousands of new members who otherwise might not have such access.
