i’m a fine arts student doing my thesis on production design for an animated series adaptation of percy jackson for university. my proposal is to use tumblr as a primary platform to promote the hypothetical tv show and i need a measure of how quickly information can spread through the sheer power of tumblr (specifically the pjo fandom) we have six days to get as many notes as we can and prove our point. pretty please? :)

My age now is closer to Toru Watanabe's age when he rode the plane bound for Germany compared to my age when I first read Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami more than a decade ago. I was in college then, the same age as Toru and Naoko. Whenever I feel down, I re-read this book. This might be my sixth go at it. Things remain even though Naoko is dead. Toru’s feelings. M fondness for this book about loss and survival. Death is not the opposite of life. It's a part of it.

HIATUS for The Stars at Night Keep It Bright

Hi everyone! It’s UNofFangirls here with some new for my fanfic The Stars at Night Keep It Bright.

I’m not sure how many people who follow me follow me for Stars, or how many people in the tag read Stars, but I wanted to let those that do know that I’m going on hiatus. I know I haven’t posted in a while and that’s my own fault. School and work have me burned out for the year, and since I don’t end until June I don’t really have any time on hand to devote to Stars right now.

So, until June 22, Stars is going on a short hiatus. If you know anyone who reads it please let them know! Thanks everyone!

Fantasy Novels

I might get flamed for this but here goes. I have never been satisfied with most dystopian young adult novels I've read & tried reading. Hunger Games, Legend, Divergent etc. It's hard to imagine a society dumb enough to let these dystopian settings to come about & they always seem to become just a backdrop for some love story for the heroine. The heroine tries to be real but I still can't relate to her inner musings. They seem to juvenile for me. Maybe it's because I'm old. Lol I usually read high fantasy epic sagas. They're really long novels about war, honor, loyalty, magic, mysterious & seemingly insurmountable enemies and heroes who have lost so much but will not give up because they have no other choice. Sometimes, they're funny too. (to name a few Scott Lynch, Joe Abercrombie, Brandon Sanderson, Robin Hobb, Patrick Rothfuss) I do like HP & PJO because they're funny & plot-driven. I just can't honestly get into the other YA novels that are just excuses to portray juvenile love stories.

Nico is pretty good friends with Charon, from whom Nico gets fashion instruction from. Sometimes, Nico has to dress up to complete some of his dad's many errands. I want a story of the 7 and Will catching him with a dashing outfit with an ascot tie & he is mortified...or not. I should draw this but I'm loaded with work this week. Urgh.

Fight Club

I live in a third world country where the use of birth control is suppressed by the Catholic Church. The only way to save it is for my generation to stop having children. I sleep too much on weekends & I'm starting to suspect that Tyler Durden takes over & gives out condoms while I sleep.

Can't get the idea of a very enterprising Nico di Angelo who would go as far as charming customers to maintain regulars at his panini cafe (Paninico) out of my head. Will Solace is so sweet on Nico, he only gets mad at customers who flirt back at his boyfriend and never at hardworking Nico. So I have this inkling that Nico, even though he helps his father a lot, isn't a 9-5 type of demigod. I should just write this down as a story but drawing is more fun. After camp at a time of peace, Nico would work for brief stints for Hermes (because he has a chauffeur and he can shadow travel) and he would be able to save enough to start up a Panini cafe at New Rome. It's a good business because it gives demigods a feel of what casual Italian food and coffee are like. Hermes helps out with the supplies and Hades helps out on some financial aspects but overall, it's Nico's business. Hermes and Hades should have a good working relationship because it's Hermes who guides souls to the underworld. I imagine Travis and Connor helping out at the cafe too because they have the right sort of energy. Will Solace is at college and he spends his time studying at Paninico to be with Nico.

I've finally colored it properly because I can't help myself. I should've been cleaning around the house but putting texture in the background is really fun. Will and Nico in a fine townhouse because in my head, Will grows up to have a demigod clinic and Nico has a franchise of cafes specializing in grilled panini (Paninico). Hope it gives you a smile. Percy nags Nico about why he isn't Nico's type. Nico complains to Will about it. Some things are revealed. It's the start of a beautiful relationship. Funny (I hope) oneshot.

Sketch of Hades and Nico if things had gone better. Nico's skin should be olive though but this way, they resemble one another more. I like to think of Hades as a yuppie who works hard and not nearly as sinister as he is often portrayed. I don't know why.
