Bass Reeves, one of the first black Deputy U.S. Marshals, was credited with arresting over 3,000 felons. He worked mostly in Arkansas and the Oklahoma Regions. He shot and killed fourteen outlaws in self-defense. Bass is considered to be the inspiration of The Lone Ranger character.
Bass Reeves was also portrayed Colman Domingo in the series Timeless.
