My take on Klimt's "Hygieia", but make it Arcane. ✨🌌✨ Absolutely love the show's Machine Herald design, and I had tons of fun making it abstract <3

"To Hygeia (Health), Fumigation from Manna.
O much desired, prolific, general queen. Hear me, life-bearing Hygeia, of beauteous mien, mother of all; by thee diseases dire, of bliss destructive, from our life retire; and every house is flourishing and fair, if with rejoicing aspect thou art there. Each daidal art they vigorous force inspires, and all the world thy helping hand desires. Aides (Haides), life's bane, alone resists thy will, and ever hates thy all-preserving skill. O fertile queen, from thee for ever flows to mortal life from agony repose; and men without thy all-sustaining ease find nothing useful, nothing formed to please. Without thy aid, not Aides' self can thrive, nor man to much afflicted age arrive; for thou alone, of countenance serene, dost govern all things, universal queen. Assist thy mystics with propitious mind, and far avert disease of every kind."
Orphic Hymn 68 to Hygeia (trans. Taylor)

Roman "Asclepius & Hygeia" Carnelian Intaglio Signet Ring

A fascinating antique signet ring with an ancient Roman intaglio. The carnelian agate intaglio depicts two Greek gods- Asclepius, the god of medicine and Hygeia, his daughter and goddess of health. Asclepius carries a snake-entwined staff, while facing his daughter. The ring mount is crafted in solid 18 karat yellow gold.

Asclepius was the son of Apollo and mortal princess Coronis. His name- literally meaning "to cut open" as he was born by caesarean section. He was married to Epione, the goddess of pain relief and healing. Her name comes from the Greek word "epios", which means "soothing". They together had a number of children, including Hygiea. Asclepius was given to the Centaur Chiron, the wisest of all centaurs, who raised him and taught him medicine and the healing arts. Legend has it, at some point along the way, Asclepius healed a snake, which in return taught him secret knowledge... Snakes were considered divine beings that were wise and could heal and this is how his symbol came along.
Hygeia's (hygiene) classical symbol was a bowl containing a medicinal potion with the serpent of wisdom consuming it. This is the same serpent of wisdom, which appears on the staff of Aesculapius. She played an important part in her father's cult, while her father was more directly associated with healing, she was associated with the prevention of sickness and the continuation of good health.

i think i mainly consider ifru as head of pantheon because she's called "great mother and protector ifru" and out of all the deities, she's the one to appear the most in physical representation of numidian era (like, she has way more presence than any other god but in an ungodly amount). "but in some source, it's said that amon is the creator-god!!!" and the same thing is said in egyptian mythology. let's keep in mind that sheshonq (an amazigh prince) became pharaoh, so of course the two mythology would effect each other! gurzil is literally the product of an accouplement between amon and a cow (don't. fucking. ask.) so him having other apparitions is natural (see that like a crossover between two shows). "but if gurzil is amon's son, why isn't he head of pantheon instead?" because my dear friend, you have to remember that amazigh culture was extremely MATRIARCHAL!! women were leaders and men were, there. ("she's everything, he's just ken" ahh culture, i know). so yeah. amon would have probably gave power to his daughter-in-law. there's also myths about another creator goddess that was way more evil and also created tafkut (the sun) and ayyur (the moon)? i'll have to research a bit lol. at this point obsessing over amazigh mythology is just creating headcanons, theories and fanfictions about the gods.

what myth in amazigh mythology that you like a lot? :0
i've already talked about multiple myths (anzar's bride, ayyur and the orphan, teryel trying to kidnap ayyur and tafkut) but i remember not really expending on lunja— who's one of my favorite! <3
lunja, sometimes described today as a "cannibal rapunzel", is an ogress and daughter of teryel, mother of all ogres. teryel gave birth to her little time after her time in attala—the underworld (the magic place where humans originate from) and while little is known about how things went like there (how did teryel —a mortal— ended up in attala? how did she survive? how did she found the tree of life and death? how did she get out? all is unknown, i personally believe that ifru —who's also the goddess of attala— had something to do with it), but we do know that she consumed a golden leaf from the tree of life and death, and thanks to it, gained magic powers, became an ogress and immortal/goddess. she also was gifted with 80 biological children, while it is hinted that teryel was pregnant, it is even more hinted that the reproduction wasn't sexual, and that only the consumption of the golden leaf leaded to the pregnancies.
her first born was lunja, a girl with unmatched beauty and glowing golden hair. teryel loved her daughter very much and spoiled her (ex: trying to steal the sun and moon for her). and of course, lunja is her mother's daughter and is a man- eating ogress. she doesn't use the same tactics as her mother, who simply chase human, lunja uses her beauty. so many princes asks her hand in marriage, and each time she accepts, but when the couple's first night together is here, lunja kills the man and eats him (and some sources also says that she eats any other men present in the palace). the funny thing is that even if most princes proposing to her doesn't know about her being an ogress, other's do, but still asks for her hand, believing they can change the ogress' daughter to become mortal. how wrong they are.

amazigh mythology: tamttant and the concept of after-life.
tamttan is a primordial being (a goddess probably. i doubt that she is a spirit.) who is a personification of death. she appears under the form of a woman wearing white fabrics and armed with a harpoon or a spear that she uses to take away the iman (soul) of any living being.
the concept of after-life in imazighen beliefs are pretty much unknown in our modern world due to the absence of written sources. we could think that like in greek mythology, the underworld (tallast/attala to which great mother ifru is the goddess of) would be the ultimate place of rest, but far from it, as it is the birth place of humanity before they joined the surface of the earth and where spirits and the tree of life and destiny lives (tallast and attala are sometimes described as different places and sometimes as the same, i prefer the second option). i saw some people mentioning an equivalent to heaven and hell called "tismi" and "tamsunt" and even if the conditions to get in one or the other is unknown, it's said that the dead will come back under the forms of diverse creatures if they weren't buried and honoured (the cult of the ancestors is very important) correctly. but there's a lot more of mentions of reincarnation in amazigh beliefs. "when a tree dies, a man dies" said a lot of elders, which implies that the man becomes tree after his death; a come back to the start of the circle of life, considering that in a lot myths, amon created humanity from trees.
i am not a scholar or a professional researcher. as much as i try to double-check my sources, i am not immune to commiting mistakes. i do these research to learn more about my culture (who is slowly disappearing and getting simplified to pretty clothes and dancing) both because i love it and also to share it to others. if you notice any real mistake (keep in mind that sometimes, mythology simply has different versions of the myth) or simply wants to talk about amazigh mythology with someone, my ears are all open!

After Settut introduced wickedness, the first war was fought, leaving the first orphan. Who wandered around looking for someone who cared for him, but everyone ignored him.
However, one night an owl sensed his pain and went to Ayyur, the moon, to tell him of the child's pain, Ayyur took pity on the child and came down to earth to give him a hug, it was then that the child for the first time burst into tears.
