“How can you call yourself a humanist and support Israelis?”
Well, you see, it’s really absurdly simple - Israelis are human beings and I’m against demonisation and dehumanisation and murder and rape and kidnapping being justified on the basis of where any human being happened to be born or calls home. That’s a pretty fucking baseline humanist position.

big fan of when businesses have signs that preemptively thank you for following a rule. "thank you for respecting our staff" "thank you for not smoking in the bus station." etc. its a passive aggressive power move and it works on me every time. i mean i wasn't even PLANNING on direspecting the staff but now i'm extra not gonna. they thanked me already. i've been checkmated.

It’s so infuriating that teen smoking rates were at an all time low in the US and we were on track to basically eradicate smoking and nicotine addiction in teens like it was flat out uncool to smoke and then They came out with nicotine injector flash drives that light up and taste like cotton candy. And have lead in them.

Wait what the fuck am I yelling about, I'm an artist! I can literally just make art about it
Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?

Hm.. that's actually an interesting theory. Of course a lot of the rise in those things are uneducated/unprepared people who need something to be mad at being taken advantage of and having wool pulled over their eyes, but wanting mysteries could certainly be a part of it.
I think people just believe that the only mysteries that have ever existed are unknown lands and what lies beyond our star - both very good mysteries and let me tell you, I do grumble about not being able to experience the wonder that people in the past must have known, but I prefer my rights and healthcare above that - but in reality there's mysteries all around us. Not even really harder to find, just harder to understand. A new continent/island or a new star or planet are easy to grasp, but I think things like new vaccine creation, finding a new use of a species of bacteria or the fascinating way ancient people lived are harder to immediately grasp because you need a better understanding of specific things to understand how cool they are.
We're uncovering new and exciting mysteries and solving them everyday, they're just a little smaller and harder to understand at first
i do wonder if the rise in pseudoscience and conspiracy theories has anything to do with the whole "born too late to explore the earth born too soon to explore the galaxy" thing. like i think a lot of people crave discovery and adventure but all the easy stuff has already been found so they follow the nearest chump willing to convince them that all our current discoveries are lies and atlantis' ruins are just off the coast of florida. and bigfoot sucked my dick last week. trust us this time. we're the new scientists.

no character or plotline will ever fully explore an issue from every point of view, and that's okay. art can and should be a starting point for a discussion rather than seen as a 'one size fits all'. each and every person who experiences a story will see it in a different way, will pick up on things that someone else didn't, and might find a viewpoint that speaks specifically to them that even the creator themselves didn't intend.
art is a conversation, not a textbook. it is not supposed to tell you a fact, but rather show you an inkblot test and ask what you see.

so it’s a wednesday night in july and you’re at home and you’ve showered and you’ve masturbated and you’ve gnawed at the inside of your mouth and you’ve eaten and washed the dishes and fixed a corner of the fitted sheet on your bed and texted your grandmother and thought positive thoughts and still the feeling comes. what then

people saying that the live action how to train your dragon is good actually because it's basically just a shot for shot remake of the original... then why the fuck would I watch it when I can just watch the (more visually stunning, not a blatant cash grab) original

abled women with 17-step skincare routines have absolutely no place trying to “hold disabled people accountable” for our plastic waste. either stop buying ten products a month in disposable plastic full of plastic microbeads or stop fucking wailing and crying and sobbing about insulin pump tubes and injection supplies you fucking monster
