Anyways for anyone trying to make a cast of characters but struggling to come up with the designs, especially in a fantasy or scifi setting with multiple species interacting:

Make a bullet point list of personality and very basic backstory for a character.

What letter does their first name start with?

What letter does their last name start with?

Do they *have* a last name?

What is their job?

Do they like their job or do they have other passions they want to persue?

Do they support the local government?

Do they support the federal/empirical government?

What is their favorite food?

Do they have a pet?

If not, do they want one, or do they not like animals?

What kind of role do they play in the group dynamics?

Who are the friends with, who do they not mind, and who do they dislike?

Cool, got all that written down?

Now grab yourself some dice, or coins, or pull up a random number generator, and roll an equivalent sided dice /number generator for:

Species! (List out all of the sentient species in your setting your characters can be)

He/him / she/her / they/them / culturally specific pronouns / Other Neopronouns (pick from further list if you land on this)

Cis / trans / nonbinary

Hair color

Skin/fur/scale color

Eye color

Etc!

Coming up with a personality and role in the story first before dustyn on gender, pronouns, species, or skin color give your story some very interesting and rememberable characters-- Ellen Ripley was originally written as a male character, and when they decided to make her a woman, they didn't change anything about her personality , giving us our amazing and memorable skart action hero and xenomorph survivor!

As always though, take a look at the optics of the randomly generated characters if you use dice or number rolls following this guide, and make sure that your final character design is not upholding any racist stereotypes that the randomly generating the appearance is meant to help avoid making all of the characters from the same species to same-y

last night i was on call with friends watching analog horror, and i had a set of headphones with no mic so i had to type all my thoughts in a text channel, right?

well, a piece of text comes up and everyone (except for me) couldn't read it. I knew what it said and I didn't know how to alert... so i went to the soundboard. we have a voice clip of emu otori wonderhoy on that server (its our only custom soundboard bit actually) and so I spammed the SHIT out of it. they noticed and from thereon out when i had something crucial to say I would Wonderhoy button at them.
