Update: we decided to call him Jasper instead, because he looks just like grey jasper.

He's doing well, and we have his appointments scheduled for Monday.

I found a kitten last night!

My partner likes the name Smoky, short for Smoky Quartz, because our other cat is named Onyx, and we wanted to stay with the gemstone theme.

He's bathed and treated for fleas already, and I'm quarantining him until his vaccine and neuter appointment. I don't think he's more than 8 months old, but I'll wait and see what the vet thinks before putting an age on him.

The people who go "well who's going to look after you when you're old?" when you say you're not having kids are breathtakingly naive. Our next-door neighbour, somewhere in her mid-80s, has a son, grandkids, and a grear-granddaughter, and who's the one she calls when she needs help, and checks that she's not spending christmas alone? Me and my boyfriend.

Having kids is irrelevant if the answer to that question is still going to be "the mentally ill faggots next door."
