The Inventory Spread

So, life constantly puts us on the spot to come up with solutions to problems old and new. Life will call you to use the right tool for the right job at the right moment. The problem is, sometimes we don´t know the full extent of our abilities. And sometimes, we do know what we have and what we lack. And still, there are times we need to know how to develop new skills, and don´t know how. 

Well, this spread will help you know your abilities a little more and where you are lacking. Life would be a little easier if we could just pause and bring out the inventory screen and take stock at how many bombs we have left to give or how many arrows we have left to shoot and see which one’ll stick. Time to bring out the Inventory Screen then. Read on.

Cucco Crisis Spread

Because it was only a matter of time…

Admit it, we all have a bit of jerkitude inside of us (Yes, you do! Shut up!). We want to be kind and thoughtful to others, but there are times when we just are not, and the consequences are the same as those we face when we pick on the wrong Cucco. 

Every Zelda fan has done it at some point, because the cucco´s reaction is so hilarious and baffling and yet so utterly terrifying… We love to do it for the LOLs. (Yes, we do!).

In real life, we sometimes mess with the wrong cucco, that is to say we piss off our loved ones. The reaction that follows is of our own doing and thus is ours to fix, even if it hurts. You won´t get an argument from me, though… sometimes we need guidance and some tough love to set us straight. This tarot spread attempts to do just that! Besides, the nebulous idea of “problems” taking the shape of a Cucco Storm just brings a smile to my face. 

Am I out of my mind???

Serenade of Water

A music spell to encourage growth and moving forward through divination

“The clear water’s surface reflects growth… now listen to the serenade of water to reflect upon yourself…”

Materials:

A bowl, dish, etc, that can hold water

Water (obviously)

Divination Items (cards, runes, the water itself, etc)

The serenade of water to listen to

Optional Materials:

Charged water (moon water, storm water, etc)

Plants, crystals, etc that represent focus or the water element

Plant examples: basil, peppermint, rosemary

Crystal examples: clear quartz, smoky quartz, hematite, fluorite 

Instructions:

Cleanse your space

Fill your container with water

Surround the container with optional materials

Play the song

This spell is meant to enhance divination, so ask your question to your items (be them runes, cards, etc) and read them above the water (or in, if you are using the water itself)

What does it say? Look in the water at the reflection, what does the opposite say? These are questions meant to be clearer with the water’s guidance

Focus on your growth, and let the water give you its clarity

Anchoring Force

Some time ago, I shared my personal force cultivation technique I call Embodying the Triforce. You can read it here:

Since that time I have learned more about energy work because I am slowly taking in resources on Tai Qi and Qi Gong. I have learned that energy, “force” in a Hylian context, naturally wants to rise upwards. This can become a problem if too much force accumulates in the head. This unbalanced state can lead to anxiety, anger, and general restlessness. I didn’t know this when I posted Embodying the Triforce, so I wanted to amend that here.

It is vitally important once we have awoken the Force Gates of Power, Courage, and Wisdom and formed internal Triforce that we then draw that accumulated force downwards. The Gate of Power is the place where the highest concentration of force should reside and the energy should flow lightly through the rest of the body like wind. This can be done by visualization in a relaxed position, but I find that physical movement also helps.

For the mental version, take a comfortable position and settle the mind. Visualize and feel the force as it flows through your body. Inhale deeply then exhale, drawing the energy down into the Gate of Power. Store the bulk of it here. Inhale, flowing the force under the sacrum and up the back until it reaches your head. Exhale, drawing the energy down again. Repeat this cycle as you inhale and exhale. This practice is known as the Microcosmic Orbit in Taoist Qi Gong. In a Hyrulean context, I’m considering calling it the Dragon Path since in Tears of the Kingdom the dragons fly in a cyclical path between Hyrule and The Depths.

For the physical movement method, settle into a comfortable position either sitting or standing and settle the mind. As you inhale, slowly raise your arms until they reach above your head and the peak of your breath. Bring your hands together into the Triforce position Rauru uses in TotK and slowly draw it down along the center of your body as you exhale, settling the force into the Gate of Power. As you inhale again while raising your arms, bring the force up your back until it reaches your head. Exhale and draw the hands down. Repeat as many times as feels comfortable.

I hope this helps keep you grounded if you follow my energy practices.

Hylian Talisman Craft

Hylian magical talismans in my styling begin with a Word of Power or a symbol.

The symbol may be a recognizable symbol from Hyrule or something with deep meaning to the sorcerer who is crafting.

A Word of Power is written in Old Hylian Syllabary which is based on Japanese kana. Due to this, the word of power will generally be a Japanese word written top to bottom.

A few examples I’ve come up with so far are as follows:

From there, if I choose to add clarifying text along with the Word of Power, I use English language written in the Hylian Alphabet that appears in games such as A Link Between Worlds and Breath of the Wild. I also intend to write occasional devotional works and inscriptions using this alphabet.

For example, I intend to inscribe this phrase along the wrapping grip design of a sacred wooden sword Im planning.

The wooden sword in the first image is an example of using meaningful symbols along with the Word of Power OHARAE “Great Purification.” I didn’t use any clarification text with that particular talisman but hope to create more in the future which are more complex.

In order to make full use of these talismans, one mustn’t just write the inscriptions. It is vital that energy or Force is focused through the tool into the talisman being created. This channeling of Force may leave the sorcerer fatigued because they have poured from within themselves. Because this is how talismans function, Force cultivation is an incredibly important practice in order to maintain and increase vitality.

A week or so ago, there was a conversation in the Community of Hyrulean Faiths discord server about Zelda Hymn parodies. (A v chill server. Would 100% recommend for anyone interested in LoZ inspired Faith/Practice)

This set off a week-long brainworm about in-universe LoZ Hymns.

So I now present to you:

This is half fun hyperfixation project, and half devotional practice on my part.

“Din’s Fire” Toxic Person Banishing Spell (Legend of Zelda Inspired)

A spell to banish toxic and draining people from your life and to cut your ties with them. This spell needs to be done while actively cutting them out of your life via social media, communication channels and interactions - this spell won’t be much help if you personally keep initiating contact.

You Will Need:

🔥 Black Salt/Witch’s Salt (simple recipe if needed: 1 part sea salt, 1 part black pepper, 1 part ash - grind together)

🔥 A Black Candle

🔥 2 Red Candles

🔥 Poppet of Person or Persons

🔥 Cookie Tray/Sheet 

🔥 Wax Paper (easy clean-up)

🔥 A small bag you can throw away

🔥 Tape (preferably duct tape or packing tape - scissors may also be needed)

Set Up:

Cleanse yourself and your space well. If needed or desired cast a circle or any protection wards you may feel to be necessary though this up to you as a personal preference. Make sure you are working in a place where you can safely burn candles, tie back long hair and roll up any loose clothing or sleeves. Place your cookie tray down in your work area and cover it with wax paper if desired to protect it from dripping wax. 

For your poppet make it out of what you wish to and make sure to write the names of the individuals you are banishing from your life on it. If you have any taglocks you may attach them to the poppet as well. Have your bag and tape set to the side for easy access but out of the way. 

Set up your candles so that the red ones are on either side of the black candle, light them as you desire before beginning your spell.

The Spell:

🔥 Place your poppet onto the wax paper lined cookie sheet 

🔥 Take your black salt and pour it over the poppet, visualize it being all of the negative words and things they have thrown at you, all of the darkness they’ve brought to your life and all of the reasons why they need to be banished from it

🔥 Once it is well coated take your red candles and extinguish them, make sure the wax at the top is well melted and easy to drip and pour - begin dripping wax over the black salt and poppet below

🔥 “By Din’s Fire, I banish you” Repeat this as you drip the red wax

🔥 Once done with the red wax extinguish the black candle carefully and drip the black wax

🔥 “(name[s]), You are gone from my life a never return” 

🔥 Take your wax paper with the poppet, salt and wax still on it and fold and crumple it up carefully but firmly so nothing falls out.

🔥 Place this bundle into the bag you are using and tape it up well, sealing any remaining energies or things they have brought into your life so it cannot affect you again

🔥 Take the taped up bag and toss it into the trash or dumpster where it belongs and continue on with your life without them

“Nayru’s Love” Parasite Warding Spell (Legend of Zelda Inspired)

A warding spell to protect the user from emotional leeches that may want to cause the caster distress.

You Will Need:

💙 Small Jar or Capsule You Can Wear or Carry - must be sealing!

💙 Crystal Chips/Crushed Crystals of One or More of the Following:

💙 Fluorite 💙 Clear Quartz 💙 Labradorite 💙 Jet

💙 Dried Basil

💙 Dried Cloves

💙 A Blue Candle

💙 A White Candle

💙 Heart-Shaped Bead, Small Charm or Trinket (must fit in bottle/container)

💙 Optional: 

💙 Legend of Zelda Music

💙 Incense Associated with Protection

💙 Additional White or Blue Candles 

Set Up:

Make sure you are in a clear and clean space that doesn’t have any hazards for burning candles. Tie back your hair if it is long and roll up any long sleeves to avoid them catching fire. Light any incense you may wish to burn and make sure it is set up somewhere away from your work space so it does not get knocked over. A flat surface is best for working on this particular spell. Lay out any wax paper or paper towels if desired for easier clean up - melted wax will be used in this spell. For easier pouring of herbs and crystal chips into the container you can use a spoon or make a paper funnel if desired and keep it close at hand. Cleanse your workspace before beginning your spell.

The Spell:

💙 Make sure your blue and white candles are burning but out of the way, let them burn during the duration of the spell

💙 In your container layer in your herbs and crystals. The order or method is up to you though I usually put herbs on the bottom, crystal chips on top.

💙 Place your heart bead inside of bottle and seal it with a cork or its lid

💙 Using your candles (after extinguishing them) use their melted wax to seal the top of the bottle, careful this can get messy

💙 Once sealed place in a windowsill or other area overnight to charge - best to be done during a full moon

Use and Maintaining Spell:

Carry or wear the charm bottle with you to help repel parasites - remember this is not a replacement for regular cleansing or warding practices for yourself or your spaces. You should still continue to cleanse your home and yourself regularly. This bottle will need to be cleansed regularly and recharged using a mixture of your own energy and that of the moon (or other sources if needed). If needed, sometimes the contents of the jar may need to be changed every five or six months, you will know when to do this because the spell jar itself will feel much weaker than when you first made it. Reseal it with new wax after it has been refilled.

Curtain of Twilight

A spell that can act as a ward or a curse.

In Twilight Princess, most of Hyrule is covered in a shroud of twilight, and whenever Link needs to go into these areas, he needs Midna’s help to get through the curtain.

“Last time, a shadow beast pulled you through the curtain of twilight… But if you want to go that way this time, you’ll need the cooperation of someone FROM the twilight…like me!” — Midna 

The Curtain of Twilight is a barrier impenetrable by anyone who is not of the Twili, and the twilight beyond is a danger to light dwellers. Inside, most light dwellers become spirits, shades of their selves, while the Twili find their strength and true forms in it.

In this, a twilight witch may use the curtain to protect themselves, allowing only that which they permit within, and strengthening themselves. On the other hand, casting the curtain over another can reduce the target to a shade, weakening them and their magic until either the caster or the target remove it.

To use as a ward: - Black fabric to make four small satchets - A gold marker - basil (protection, warding) - black salt; sea salt works as a substitute (protection, banishing, warding) - black pepper or peppercorns (protection, banishing, warding) - sage (cleansing, protection)

Take your gold marker, and draw the Symbol of the Twili on your sachets, one for each direction. It should look something like this:

Next, add your ingredients into the sachet, close it tight and shake to mix them all together. Imagine a curtain of twilight covering your space, peaceful and serene. Put the sachets at the four corners of your space. You can charge these under the full moon if you’d like, but it’s not necessary.

To use as a curse: - A cheap compact mirror - black marker - a taglock - cayenne pepper - black pepper - chili powder - black salt

Draw the symbol of the Twili on the mirror with your marker. DO NOT let your reflection into the mirror. Lay the taglock over the mirror. If it’s a picture, make sure it is face down so that your target is “facing” the mirror. Next, sprinkle your ingredients over the taglock, imagining them being covered by twilight. Close the compact and store/dispose of it how you like.
