Oh my god yes, this happening with S5 Henry as you said would be so interesting! Now the question would be before or after Piper finds out.

Because like the character study that could be done on Piper and how she reacts to seeing just how entwined her brother really is with his sidekick career. Her having to really come to terms with the fact that her hero Captain Man really hired her older brother when he was very young, to young to really understand what he was getting himself into, to be his sidekick and just how much that has messed up her older brother!

It could also even been a double dose of character study if both Henry and Ray get split at the same time. So we see just how similar Henry and Ray are with how entwined their civilian self’s are with their superhero self’s. Also the character study of, in the version where both of them get split at the same time, where Ray has to fully come to terms with the fact that he basically just repeated the cycle with Henry. That he basically more or less did to Henry what was done to him as a kid after he got his powers, except Henry didn’t have any powers when he hired him.

There’s so many possibilities with a fic idea like this!

the danger force episodes with henry are my favs because. im biased. but seeing how Ray acts with Henry during them just makes me think; I wonder if Ray ever gets a little pang of pain in his chest when he remembers just how small Henry used to be compared to now 😭

Ray met Henry when he was this tiny 13 year old and now, he's way bigger, and also taller than him LMFAOO... makes me imagine he thinks about just when henry grew up so much

tldr; nostalgia is probably eating away at Ray

I'm almost 100% sure it was supposed to be a funny gag, and even if it wasn't, the brain DOES tend to recycle memories when making up dreams so. considering Ray was in a lot of Henry's memories I guess it makes sense that he'd appear in Henry's dreams but. man. I had a visceral reaction when watching that scene purely because of the fact that it was the dream he had immediately after being knocked out of that building back in dystopia 😭

I'M NOT SURE WHERE THE MOVIE FITS IN THE HENRY DANGER TIMELINE but I'm sure it was probably some time after Danger Force, but judging by Henry's reaction at seeing Captain Man again, I wanna say he hadn't seen him in a while? So the fact Henry was dreaming about him is really interesting.

Going back to my main point though, I feel like the fact he was dreaming about Ray after experiencing a life threatening event might be some sort of coping mechanism of sorts. Maybe it's a veryyyyy far stretch, but back when he was Kid Danger and was actively being threatened, Ray would at least always have his back when things were going wrong. So even now as an adult, his brain internally registers Ray as something "safe" to rely on, hence him appearing in Henry's dream after being knocked out in such a traumatic manner. Besides that, I wouldn't be too surprised either if Henry just regularly dreams about Ray anyways LMFAO.... that's an option too

the cactus con episode imo was a REALLY good example of how sometimes, Henry and Ray were always with each other to an unhealthy degree. Or well, not necessarily unhealthy, but to the point it was jus ridiculous how they deadass could not stay away from each other sometimes 😭

the incessant need to constantly be around each other apparently was strong enough for their common sense to stop working, because they didn't realize that MAYBE Mr. Manchester over here, some regular 'ol guy, shouldn't be talking with Kid Danger like they were just casual friends. I'm sure it was just because they didn't want anymore issues to deal with in the episode (+ everyone was distracted by the event), but I'm sure that realistically, some random civilian would've been looking over at Kid Danger and then the first thing they see is him talking with this random guy. Like? Are y'all not concerned about someone getting suspicious or 👁️👁️....

It took Charlotte telling them that they shouldn't be talking to each other because Kid Danger and Ray don't KNOW each other, to make them get a moment of realization and seperate. And then not even a minute later Henry immediately goes over to talk to Ray again LMFAO, at least he left after a few seconds. Henry and Ray's relationship, and how it just sometimes makes them do some irritional things is just. so interesting to me

sorry for the very late response, i haven't had a lot of time the past few days. but now i do so i can finally answer this ask!

how i feel about this character

well i strongly dislike drex as a person for obvious reasons. i think he played a big role in henry's reliance on kid danger for a sense of self-worth and he probably gave jasper nightmares for weeks

as a character... it's always nice to have a bad guy who isn't so easily defeated (kind of like the borg in star trek) so i like that about drex. and i think the fact that he used to be ray's sidekick but had a "dark side" has some potential that i don't think they did a lot with. i'd have liked to know more about the time he spent with ray and how it affected both of them (especially ray - i think slowly getting a sense of this "dark side" his sidekick had would have been very hard on him. it meant he made a wrong decision in protecting the city that got people killed. maybe that's part of why he chose little 13 year old henry - he was still young, still impressionable, he adored captain man. he probably didn't have a violent side like drex did and ray could guide him in his development to make sure he never got that violent side). i think in hd drex is mostly used as a villain who's actually challenging, both so that the show will be more interesting and for the insecurity arc henry has in hour of power (of course the events of that episode have implications for henry throughout the rest of the show but hd barely addressed that) and he works just fine for those purposes but i think he could've been more

so in henry danger i think drex worked fairly well but he was underexplored and they could've done more with his character, both just on his own and in his relationship with other characters (especially ray but maybe also schwoz - now that i think of it they probably worked together for a while, don't recall very much mention of that in the show) but i do NOT like what they did to him in danger force. especially in the end. it seems they forgot all about drex having first been introduced as having this sort of inherent dark side (which i take issue with btw, it must've been more complicated than that. but well it's a nickelodeon show) and they disregarded the magnitude of what he'd done to our heroes for no apparent reason. ray forgiving him was nice i think, it was a good way to get some character development for him, but everything after that? the essence of drex's character got butchered and i think it's a disservice to drex, but also to ray and henry (i think i'll probably elaborate on that later in this post). maybe drex did change significantly and he lost that dark side to him somehow, but that's something that should've been an arc in the show rather than just suddenly being the case. so yeah i did not like what df did with him (which is such a shame because i think df did a lot of things very well, honestly don't know why they messed up so bad here)

all the people i ship romantically with this character

honestly, no one. i feel like i've seen people ship ray and drex which i find an interesting concept that could be a great addition to what their relationship was like when drex was ray's sidekick and could really add another dimension to it so conceptually i really like that but i wouldn't say i really ship them like i do for instance henry and jasper. drex and ray having been a thing way back when could serve very well to make their dynamic and characters more interesting but for me it's not much more than that

my non-romantic otp for this character

i feel like if drex had had a proper redemption arc and ended up as a good guy without it being so sudden and forced he would've gotten along well with chapa. idk, just a feeling. i can't really see him being friends with any of the hd characters because of what he put them through, it's been a while since i watched df but i feel like they weren't as traumatized by drex? i could be wrong though. but idk i can see them as being friends with redeemed drex, but not the hd characters. and chapa was the first person to come to mind so i'll just go with her and drex as my non-romantic drex otp in an au where drex was properly redeemed

my unpopular opinion about this character

i have no idea what opinions about drex would even be deemed unpopular so i can't really answer this one

one thing i wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon

so much... i think drex could've been utilised more and better in several ways. his relationship with ray and schwoz could've been elaborated on so much more, as well as what this dark side of him exactly was and what led it to come to the surface. but i think if i had to pick 1 thing i'd want to undo the damage df did to drex and in the process also to ray and henry

most importantly i would want drex to have a proper redemption arc - not ray forgiving him in 1 episode but over the course of several, and certainly not ray suddenly becoming best buddies with him. his sudden friendship with drex feels like a betrayal to henry. he made drex his best man! that should've been henry. but perhaps more importantly, even if ray forgave drex for what he did to him, he had NO RIGHT to forgive drex for what he did to henry. he caused a massive insecurity crisis in henry that didn't really leave for years and that i think is the reason why henry became dedicated to his job to such a harmful degree. and of course jasper didn't exactly have a nice experience with drex either. ray had no right to forgive drex for all of that, he had no right to pretend that everything was fine once he forgave drex. because it wasn't.

i think this is just sloppy writing for ray and not a reflection of who he really is because ray cares about henry so much and so fiercely and i imagine that after the finale the two of them had a very long talk and drex would've definitely come up and ray must've been so angry when he realised the extent of what drex did to henry. and i just can't believe that ray would suddenly forgive drex for everything. that is not him. even in the context of a properly written redemption arc for drex i don't think ray could forgive him for all he did to henry (and neither could henry himself). eventually, he'd forgive drex for what he did to him (ray) and he'd be okay with drex being around and helping out but i don't think they should be friends (plus i think this would lead to more interesting dynamics)

like i mentioned earlier i also think that the way drex was written in those last episodes of df is just disregarding basically his entire background and the kind of person he's established as being so that's why i want the redemption arc to get to the point of drex being one of the good guys more naturally and in a way that doesn't demolish drex's character but honestly i mostly care about ray's part in all of this. so yeah. this kind of got away from me but all this is what i wish would have happened in canon - a good redemption arc that includes much, much more tension with ray over what drex did to henry

I just had a thought about Henry Danger/Danger Force that’s making me cry.

What if the silver stripes in Ray’s new Captain Man suit for DF is a little homage to Henry’s Kid Danger suit? Can you imagine omg.

I’m picturing Ray talking to Schwoz about an upgrade and he adds in the little reference to his kid. Fans notice the update and draw the same conclusions I have; conspiracies and blogs and news articles circulate about Captain Man changing his suit to honor his ‘dead’ sidekick.

I feel like it would have a very positive reception, since the whole city is mourning one of their heroes and Captain Man was the most affected of them all (except KD’s family but obviously no one knows who they are to mourn with them). I just think it’s such a sweet and touching gesture, and definitely more than one person cried over it (no I’m not projecting you’re projecting).

Tbh I’m tearing up for a different reason than them, since we know Henry isn’t dead so we know Ray’s grief and reasonings aren’t quite what the civilians think they are, but they’re still tear-jerking and worthy of their own post.

Anyway tl;dr I think the silver stripes on Ray’s new DF suit are an homage to Henry’s KD suit and I’m crying about it now

Henry Danger x Life is Strange vague crossover idea {because apparently I'm full of HD crossover ideas today}

Maybe sometime around the end of S1 beginning of S2, after a run in with one of the Time Jerker's inventions {which blows up in his face}, Henry finds himself with powers similar to Max's in the first Life is Strange game.

Of course I imagine if/when the Time Jerker finds out about Kid Danger's new time based ability he gets really angry because Time based abilities/tech is his thing!!! Of course it's his own fault KD has time based powers now but that doesn't really matter to him in the end, KD still stole his shtick!
