2009 - 2019
2009 was shit. In 2009 I was 11.
In 2009 I was suffering from all kinds of undiagnosed mental illness issues. I can accurately say I was very depressed. But that didn't stop me from being a social butterfly. I was never cool, so I was super excited when I got invited to this popular girls birthday party, this was my chance to make friends with her and then we could all be this great group of buddies. Well no... This would be my first seeious interaction with bullies. Infact it would also be my first interaction with getting toilet water poured over my head.
Depression didn't give me social anxiety... The constant berating and belittling from this girl gave me social anxiety. And when she quit another bully would come in and take over. I was bullied relentlessly from Grade 1-9.
In 2009 I wanted to die. Not figuratively as most 11 year olds would "like totally, I would die", I litterly wanted to die. I wanted to fall asleep one night and not wake up I wanted to drop a toaster in the tub with me in it.
Fast forward to high school. 2013 I had my first panic attack, after I put my fist through a door and a wall, I broke down. Called a friend and was told to fuck off, that he didn't have time for this.
2009 - 2013 I actively wanted to die. And I hid it. I hid it really well... So when people asked how I was I could lie and say I was fine and people would beleive me.
I graduated in 2016 and realized something dramatic; it is very hard to decide what you want to do with the rest of your life when most of your formative years have been spent with depression. It takes over everything, every aspect of who you are. It shows you the darkness and it drags you down and holds you there. I didn't know what I wanted to do. But I did know I wanted to understand why my brain did that. Why I wanted to lay in bed and cry most days. Why everything I should be excited about didn't do anything for me. And this is not to say that I didn't have good days... I did. But that's not the point of this.
In September of 2016 I went to University to study Psychology. I had a few run ins with the demon in my head but he stayed away for the most part.
I started dating the most wonderful man. And when he saw me, drunk and out of my mind, sobbing, trembling in full panic, he didn't run. He didn't tell me to suck it up or fuck off or save it. He took me in his arms held me and told me everything was going to be okay.
It is 2019. I'm now engaged to marry that man. And I'm so irritatingly happy.
My point is that there are thousands of girls like me, who had expereinces like mine who didn't live past 2009, or 2013. My point is that it gets better. It gets so much better and only wish I could go back and tell myself this, tell others this. But I can't. So to you reading this. It gets better and I know you hear that all the time because I sure did. And there were times where I just wanted people stop. But I promise you. It gets better, and you need to be there to see that happen.

Falling
Its hard to fall in love with someone who is scared of you. Not scared of you per say, but scared of what you could do to them: break their heart, screw their best friend, and ultimately betray every inch of their being.
Now its not to say that its hard to fall for them, because its so fucking easy, but what i mean is that the landing is hard.

how to start studying after school
clean up your desk: it’s hard to concentrate when there’s a pile of rubbish on your desk. the chance of you fiddling with things is also higher! you’ll get more done by cleaning your desk! if you’re looking for an easy way to organise your desk, check out these handy organisers!
get your books: get out all the books you need to study that particular subject. if it’s geography, an atlas might be handy.
get a notebook: if you’re in uni or college it’s a good idea to re-write all your notes for your classes that day. make them look clean and tidy. if you’re in secondary school and you’re studying for a test, summarize everything you have learned. in any case, it’s best to have a few notebooks on your desk too. here’s a 4 pack of spiral notebooks for $7.04!
grab some pens: seems self explanatory! i recommend you having an ordinary pen, a highlighter and a pencil on hand. (a.k.a. the basics!) here are some super cute gel pens!
turn off your phone: by turning off your phone, you will get less distracted by social media. sure, people won’t be able to reach you but you’ll get some peace and quiet. obviously leave it on if you’re expecting an important call!
look for a study playlist: if you easily get distracted by your laptop too, skip this step. i personally find it harder to get distracted by my laptop than my phone, so i leave it on and look for some music to study to. here’s a masterpost of some good playlists to listen to!
get a glass of water: you really need your h2o, everyone. grab a large glass or fill up a water bottle. some super cute ones: i ii iii
get a healthy snack: if you’re like me and you love snacking on things while your studying, the best thing to do is to grab something healthy. cut up some apples and sprinkle some cinnamon on them (try it. it’s amazing.), grab some hummus and some celery or carrots or cucumber to dip in it, fill a little bowl with nuts, treat yourself to a square of dark chocolate! if you’re studying during dinner time or lunch time, make yourself a nourishment bowl to nibble on. for more study snack ideas, go to pinterest and snoop around the study snack tag for a while. try out my favourite smoothie bowl too!
take a deep breath: i know from personal experience that sometimes the workload can be really scary and freak you out. the most important thing to do is to take a deep breath and to tell yourself you can get through all your work. you can do anything if you try hard enough!
get cracking: now that you’ve done steps 1-9, you can actually start studying! good luck!

10 Rules for dealing with a Booknerd
1. Understand that books come before human contact
2. Kicking over a stack of book (even if accidental) is an insult
3. Insulting the favorite book of a Booknerd will get you replaced (refer to Rule #1)
4. Just because they don’t come out does not mean you have to go get them
5. Interrupting is unexeptable (they might be in the middle of a clif hanger or the end of the book)
6. Uncontrollable screaming/ crying or laughing is normal, and to be expected
7. Understand that they will talk about a book they just read, wether or not you want to here about it
8. Understand that you will never be able to change a Booknerd, if you can’t handle that, refer to Rule #1
9. A Book nerd will take a book everywhere (do not be alarmed if you find a book in their vehicle or in the cabinet… It was bound to happen anyways)
10. The Ultimate rule for dealing with a Booknerd is, if they cry over a book, we expect to be comforted, because we might have just lost a friend.
