So I've been thinking about EPIC: The musical alot- for reasons-

And I have thoughts I want to share on Athena

I think she represents generational trauma, in addition to being the goddess of Wisdom/war.

Allow me to make my case

She comes to Odysseus as a young man and promises to help him do great things. Later in the story, when he behaves in a way she deems wrong, she abandoned him. (Yes, she comes back in the end)

What does she do in that time away from Ody?

Sets her sights on Telemachus, Odysseus' Son.

She comes to him as a young man, and what does she do?

She promises to help him do great things.

Telemachus is unknowingly continuing the cycle of trauma and abuse at the hands of the very same god that "helped" his father all those years ago.

What do yall think?
